She saw me through a very difficult pregnancy in 1990 with complications prior to and following the birth that caused me to get to know a good number of specialists that work out of the Stamford Hospital system. While in the hospital, I asked several doctors who they chose to use or whom their wives chose to use for their OBGYN care. Everyone I asked told me de Cholnoky including the then head of Surgery for Stamford Hospital. His comments said all. Here is what he said: "There are lots of doctors who can deliver babies and that's pretty norm for the course during the life of an OBGYN. The reason my wife see de Cholnoky is because I have seen her at the operating table. She's as cool as a cucumber in the event of an emergency. And that's what you really want. Someone who can react well when it's necessary and someone who can handle the more complicated issues during a pregnancy or any other malady in a women's health care. de Cholnoky skipped first grade at Greenwich Academy. She then went on to succeed with obtaining a degree from Harvard Medical School during an era when professors were walking into classes and addressing the class with "Good morning Gentlemen." It takes smarts and guts to be a breakthrough woman in any line of career. She's won my respect. I can't recommend her enough and have advised my daughter as a result, to also see her. I researched doctors in the area thoroughly and landed with her as my choice. I hope she'll do a good job for anyone choosing to see her as a result of this post. Dr. Goldpin discussed delivery plan with me - epidural, cut or tear, etc. She was willing to wait for normal delivery which happened at the end of 41 weeks! The move to Stamford Hospital has been painful. It takes forever to get to the office. In winter months, finding parking and then walking to the building is tough. But I hear they are moving again and it is going to get better again.

While at the gym today, a very infirmed man had trouble and was in pain to the point of nearly fainting. I asked if he needed help since he could barely stand even with a walker. I looked around the Ground floor for help, but there was no one. I recommended that he press his emergency pendent, which he did. No one came. After five minutes, still no one came. More time passed. Still no one. I decided to go upstairs to the main desk to say someone needed help in the gym. They said they were aware of the emergency call but could not locate him. I then went downstairs and noticed a woman had finally arrived. However, she was rude, and ignored his request for a wheelchair, and began for forcefully push him backwards on his walker. When he mentioned his frustration about not being found after pushing the pendent, she just responded, "I'm here now." I said she arrived only because of me notifying the front desk, and she again slightly angrily repeated her statement. I was appalled at her attitude, but more importantly, her ignoring his request for a wheelchair, which he clearly needed. I went upstairs to reflect what I witnessed and to complain. I was then introduced to a manager. I said that I would hate to have my 84 year old mother treated this way if she had an emergency.

I actually leave with a smile on my face usually not the case when you visit other facilities. The brunches pre Covid are amazing with unlimited mimosas even though my 93 year old mom never has more than one. My mom loves it there and that's the most important thing. From Albert who's like a personal concierge eager to help to Gaye and all the people in nursing to Jessica and others in food service are amazing. Peace of mind that's she's well taken care of.
