I recognise the place is not cheap (over 1000 Reis for two, both times), however I think it is more than worth it for such incredible food, expansive wine list, delightful ambiance, and welcoming hosts. Personally, coming from NYC the prices seemed an absolute steal for the quality, but I understand Mar Massas is an outlier in the area in terms of cost (and quality). The food is absolutely to die for. I highly recommend the Octopus (Polpo Oro) starter - one of the best preparations I've ever had - and give one of the bruschetta's a shot, you can't go wrong. The pastas are excellent, frankly some of the best I've had outside of Italy. I had the Spaghetti Montechiaro (both times), with two steak filet medallions, perfectly cooked to my taste topped with melted burata (it simply does not get better than that), while my girlfriend had one of the seafood pastas the first time, and the Tagliatelle do Tio Blasco the second - which was probably the best dish we've had there thus far. To top things off Mar Massas has one of the more extensive wine lists I've ever seen, with a superb and diverse collection including some true rarities. Most shocking, to me, was the discovery that the lovely host, Ana Rita, is both co-owner and one of the chefs. Our first visit she was performing all three roles, with the aide of only one waiter - truly incredible! I can't speak highly enough of this place: If you're in Floripa and want to experience the best food the island has to offer, you must make the trip. You won't regret it.

This Cantina Italiana was a the place my fiancé and I chosen to have our Engagement Dinner. We combined my family in one side of table and her family on the other side of the long table they were very graceful in setting it up for us. We had people coming from 9 different cities and 2 countries and they all loved the place. The well Italian decorated ambieance that made everyone feel that they were in Italy. They also were very accommodating in allowing us to bring our wine as well as consume theirs. We brought like 6 bottles and consumed about 5 from them. Then, the service: the waiter had the personality of a door knob. Didn't even said goodnight, offered to get us something to drink or even smile. Mac Donalds have better service. The food was another whole FIASCO: an overcooked pasta dish with a few pieces of dry meat and a barely there tomato sauce. The bolognese lasagna had no cheese (?) and was just the lasagna noodles and a creamy sauce with traces of what should have been grounded beef. Again, overcooked. We were starving so we ate that something, that I could have cooked better at home, myself. We asked for the bill and then to split it. The waiter said we should pay in the cashier in order to do it (?). I told Mauro (the completely unprofessional waiter that brought us the bill) the situation involving the food, service and asked what was the problem in doing that. He said IT WAS NOT HIS JOB. Seriously? In a restaurant where they want to be posh and upscale (despite the tacky, outdated decor) and actually present the plates covered and the waiter is (supposed, because they don't really pay attention to the tables) going to serve the food french style, they can't bring to the table a split bill and the waiter actually argues with you. How fancy is that? Laughable. When confronted with what was happening the manager just said "Im sorry". This place should close its doors as soon as possible. In a scale of 0 to 10 it definitely manages to make an everlasting impression with a negative number.

My friends and I got a table in the VIP section (Call ahead or email ahead to get a reservation). Tickets were going for about R$650/person at that time. Anyways, the club is gigantic. There are actually 3 clubs inside of the main club. The whole thing is outdoors so make sure you go on a non-rainy night. There are 2 smaller clubs which have a roof but the main club is located outside so you can see the stars while you are dancing away. Green Valley gets some of the best dj's in the world to come play for them. They are not open all of the time so make sure you check their website to see if they have a party that weekend. My group was given R$500 to spend from the club because of what we paid to get in. We got a bottle of vodka and a bottle of champagne to start off. By the end of the night, I had personally paid for 9 more bottles of champagne. Each time a bottle was brought to the table, it came with sparklers so everybody saw us. Oh. 1 bottle of champagne ran me about R$110. So my personal tab at the end of the night was over R$1000. But for around $500 USD for 10 bottles of champagne???? Impossible in the US. And at one of the top clubs in the world??? You couldn't ask for more. I ended up having security help me leave and walk out so that nobody would jump me as we left. Now I realize that not everybody goes as balls to the walls as I do but you can still have a great time. The club can fit around 8000 people and Armin Van Buren has stated that this is the best club in the world. If you want to come party and have a blast, Green Valley is the place to come!!!
