You can take a boat from Lagoa de concecion to stop 16 where there are a group of restaurants and a short trail to a nearby waterfall. The restaurants by the water all look the same and seem to serve similar food, we try a progression of shrimp for two at Sabor da Costa. The steamed shrimp are large and nice and unpeeled. The milanesa are tasty but contains the dirty string urk. The fried are very small and fried with the shells, way too crunchy for me. The sides are the usual white rice, beans, fajao.
We are almost alone and get drunk on artesanal cachaça while having a great conversation with the waiter. The food is not memorable but the trip and the setting is well worth it at least in late October when it is not too warm and not too many people. read more
