The lounge has a classy interior and is located up on the thirteenth floor of DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds City Centre. The hotel had given us drink vouchers redeemable for a medium house wine, beer, lager or soft drink. The rosé was nice and smooth. My brother also ordered a dessert cocktail, which had a good, strong coffee flavor. ----- Solstice Pinot Grigio Rosé - Italy (£7.75 for 175ml). ----- Stravinsky's Coffee - Spain: Rémy Martin VSOP, Licor 43, dark chocolate liqueur, coconut purée, espresso, coconut syrup (£13). -----

The door staff are occasionally rude, the bar staff always serve the pretty girl before the bald man, the on floor staff are generally more than abrupt when it comes to throwing you off the balcony (in to the bar, not _off_ the balcony)... At this point you'd be forgiven for thinking that I hate The Sky Lounge. The truth is that if it wasn't for the drinks I honestly would, but the cocktails here are amazing - with the Mojito and French Martini's being amongst the best I've had in Leeds... and probably much further afield than that too. Arrive early, avoid any staff that you don't absolutely have to talk to in order to be served, and be prepared to wait for your drinks to be made... then sit back, relax and enjoy!

Situated on the…read moreground floor of a fairly new apartment block, the surrounding area is a hotbed of redevelopment, and is already taking shape as an exciting area of Leeds city centre. Although I do love tasting wine and experimenting with new varieties, I generally despise the atmosphere of wine bars. In my experience, the pretentiousness of them seems to be overwhelming. I think Lazy Lounge avoids this pitfall admirably. Their passion for wine is evident not only due to the extensive menu, but also through wine tasting events they offer at the venue. The evenings exhibit various tipples from one particular country and with Australia and Spain on the horizon, I feel a visit is imminent. The food I have sampled at Lazy Lounge has been perfectly pleasant. Full meals are on offer, although I have mainly tried the bar snacks and sharing platters - ideal for social grazing. I used to live in close proximity to Lazy Lounge and it often proved to be a convenient and enjoyable meeting place for friends. The slate flooring, contemporary furniture and sweeping staircase creates a relaxing and intimate atmosphere.

Lazy Lounge is a few minutes walk from the back of the train station and is underneath an apartment block. This is a lovely bar / lounge and is a great place for young (& not so young) professionals and anyone who likes great food, great wine, great cocktails, great music, great service and a great atmosphere. My friend and I had a really good winetasting last week. Our sommelier was knowledgeable, fun and just happened to be one of the joint owners / managers. We tasted 3 whites and 3 reds including one of the nicest malbecs i've had. The cheeseboard was also lovely and I tried (and loved) brie for the first time. Now to the food. I could go on about the food here for the longest time, but I won't. Let me just say that last week I had the lazy gourmet burget and my friend and I went back AGAIN this week and took someone else with us. We all had the lazy gourmet burger. This is burger heaven - seriously. It had meat, bacon, cheese, onion rings, salad (i think) and came served with homemade chips, yes CHIPS - WHOOP!, coleslaw, and some caramelised red onion. This is seriously good food. We were too full to move for a while but that didnlt stop us getting jealous when we saw the table next to us having the fish and chips!! There is nothing negative that I can say about Lazy Lounge but for those who find it hard to believe a review unless it has something negative, let me say that the cheese sauce (served seperately to accompany the burger) wasnt necessary. That's all. Needless to say i'll be going back. Just hope I can hold out until next week!

My suggestion was actually a hit. I did my indecisive alterego very proud. There are many quality club nights organised by the Lost and Found name and this was no exception. Dance off, being £1 entry, sold it for me. Doubles for £3, a range of sambucas £1.50? Messy. Dance off saw a battle between three major DJs, strangerways, good vibrations and juicy DJs playing a mix of Joy Division, The Temptations and Dr Dre. Amazing combination. Ruby Lounge is renown for it's quality club nights and live music. The venue is perfect, with an adequate dance floor, a stage to match and plenty of seating on a slightly raised level for a chill out. Another great Northern Quarter location that needs to become a regular thing for me.

The gig was billed as The Cribs Aftershow but it was basically just a gig- most of the spectators were either in one of the four bands, looked like they should be or were girl groupies who were way too impressed with themselves that they were getting backstage. The sofas and high backed armchairs in the main bar area were nice touches, there were a few mirror balls around too. Plus velvet curtains - hello, strip club? Then you turn to the grimy stage area with the big grill up between the bands and the crowd. That said, no one went past the pillar anyway. Too cool to stand right at the front. Alright drinks prices - get some of their cheap vodka mixers or flavoured sambucas otherwise you'll run out of money quickly. After the bands they had Gareth Brooks from Xfm DJIng but we didn't end up staying.

I maybe should have continued that rather embarrassing trend on heading into Moko. Holy multi coloured cow! This is one bright and colour splashed mother. It is like a rainbow explosion or the results of over eating Skittles. However it kind of works. The scheme gives it a vibrant and funky edge and after a while I stop checking what cigarettes I've been smoking or who has had access to my drinks. As for the music you'll find house and r n b on a Saturday. All mixed together by the in house DJs. Just a tip here to one said DJ, maybe DJ Lawrence James isn't the most catchy signature tag. Just a thought. If you want to come throughout the week though, they have ample nights of bedlam and musical highs. Tuesdays are Geek Chic night with the aptly named DJ Trev at the helm for some Indie themed inspiration. Why go elsewhere - I've got music venues, brilliant bars, eclectic nightclubs and a plethora of great restaurants within a few miles of my home? One reason is, of course, friends. Harrogate is a different night out to Leeds, you'll notice that as soon as you step foot out of the train station. There's less of a scene. There's no defined indie/electro/dubstep or any niche nights of note on a weekend. Harrogate isn't specialist. Moko Lounge, mind, is open till six in the morning on a weekend. And that, for those of us who have the stamina to dance, literally, all night long; it truly is a very special place. It's strange walking out of a club and seeing people go to work though, really strange. Drinks aren't cheap but the barmen are all skilful, flaring left, right and centre and concocting thirst-quenching mouth-wateringly good cocktails. At a price. In the girls toilets, there's straighteners which made the night of the girls I was on the town with. Give me a toilet attendant who's got Chupa-Chups over straighteners any day, though.
