My family of 10 went on the Doolin Ferry to go on the Aran Islands tour. It was a gorgeous day. It was a simple ride to the islands and we loved every second of it. Great little sight seeing adventure. read more

We used the ferry for the cliffs tour. It was drizzling and very windy but smoother out from the dock. There was commentary during the tour and an amazing view. There is plenty of parking (be sure to pay), toilets, and food stands. It is a perfect way to get a sense of how truly tall the cliffs themselves are! read more

Worst ferry experience I have had BY FAR. When getting back in line for the boat, I had a crew member press their chest up against me (appearing as if he was about to assault me) and told me to "stay in your place as a woman" for simply asking a question. Crew member was very sexist and discriminatory towards Americans and it showed. Please, please, please take another ferry to the island because I was scared for my safety and well-being!!! read more

Decided to take the Doolin Ferry ferry from Doolin to the Aran Islands on our trip to Ireland in the summer of 2011. We chose to buy from this particular ferry company versus the 3 or so others because they had a lady selling tickets near the pubs we were visiting in the city of Doolin near Gus O'connors. This ferry did what they said they would (Dennis Green anyone?): they took us from point A to B and back safely. This particular morning I am proud say that of around 40 people, I was one of around 3 people that didn't end of ralphing their Irish breakfast onto the boats floor. I am serious here folks. They put up barf bag stations (plastic bags hanging from the overhead support bars) on the inside of the boat in preparation for the puking ahead. People started puking within 2 minutes of take off. A woman who looked like Napoleon Dynamites mom was puking. A young boy was puking. Grown men were puking. My wife was puking (granted, she did make it 75% of the way there). IT SMELLED LIKE PIZZA FLAVORED COMBOs IN THAT BOAT! HOT TIP!!!-- DO NOT SIT ON THE INSIDE OF THE BOAT! Sit on the outside (where you may get a little wet if the water is choppy, which it always is) but you will have fresh air and decrease the likelihood of smelling the pizza flavored Combos and puking yourself. Doolin ferry will bring you from Doolin on the Clare mainland to one of the Aran islands. When we arrived we were met by two different tickets sellers vying for our business and was quite entertaining to watch. But both are exactly the same price so we went with the ferry ready to go. The journey to Inis Orr was around 25 minutes and the vessel was like an old fishing vessel that went up and down in the choppy waters but gave us a real experience of how the islanders must travel regularly. As it was a lovely clear day we got a great view of both the cliffs of Moher and the landscape of the island. Well worth a visit to the island by ferry. Just watch the children closely. read more

We went to Inisheer on a pretty clear day. There was a bit of mist and choppier water on the way back, but the trip both out to the island and back was pretty smooth. The boat was what you'd expect, not luxurious, not very clean, but functional. Some of the crew were flirting with the young women and badly in need of a shower, but it was pretty comical. The only real downside was that someone kept smoking cigarettes, I think in the wheelhouse, and the inside compartment filled up with smoke from them, and the diesel fumes were pretty overwhelming at times. read more

We booked the trip to Inis Oirr island with the return trip going to the Cliffs of Moher. The ferry departed for Inis Oirr on time and arrived quickly. The return trip was not so good. The boat to pick us up arrived packed with people and we were told it was full. We were put on a slower boat back that did NOT go by the cliffs. read more

Went on the Aran Island tour.2 adults and 2 kids we were not with a tour or anything. We left on time and were told be back at the pier at the island half an hour before sailing to return to the mainland. We were back 45 mins early as we had done our exploring and to be honest there wasn't much else there. To cut a long story short they boarded all the tours first and told us we had to wait for the next boat in another half an hour........ We were not impressed we were on an exposed pier in the cold with children who were cranky and ready to leave. The boat left and then another employee of the company came and told us it would in fact be another hour! I wouldn't go back again if you are not part of a big tour they don't care about you there were up to 10 kids all ages crying on the pier that day we were there , no priority given . It just wasn't good enough as far as we were concerned. They know how many tickets they sell amd the capacity of their boats! Wouldnt recommend this tour but the one from Galway much more professional. read more
