This place deserves to be closed by law enforcement, not a forced one-star. I have never, in my life, witnessed anything like what happened to my dog Jules here, and neither has anyone else who's seen her since. Jules, my female trained and calm golden retriever, went in for a routine groom. She came out needing emergency surgery: eleven stitches, and several centimeters of tissue removed. A groom did this to her. Not another animal, a """"professional""" groom. Footage shows she was fully still when it happened, meaning it is pure incompetence and negligence that resulted in this massacre. Also, this was not one groomer having a terrible moment. This was a facility that, in our experience, is negligent at every level. Top management of this branch never called us. It took four days before they even showed up to see us, and when they finally did, one explanation given was that they're managing five other facilities. That alone tells you everything about how this organization is run. It took nearly a month to get a written incident report, and even then, it never actually explained how a dog leaves a grooming appointment missing a handful of flesh. Looking back, warning signs were there. Every single time we picked Jules up from daycare, she was desperately thirsty. She smelled of urine and feces, thinly masked under perfume someone had sprayed on her before we arrived. Other dog guardians we know have the same experience. If you love your dog, run away from this horrifying place. Jules is no longer there, and we hope no other dog risks their life there. read more

We brought our senior dog and our puppy here for two and a half days of boarding/daycare/grooming. Our puppy left pooping blood (not even poop just straight blood) and a knicked ear from her bath and brush. We paid for many extra walks (12 maybe?) and saw our dogs going to the bathroom in the play area multiple times. Our senior dog was throwing up and not eating once our usual sitter picked them up on Saturday. Our puppy, as I said, was immediately pooping straight blood and was very stressed. We came home early from our trip to take our puppy to the vet who needed to be treated and checked out. We always have at home care but needed to use Doozy Dogs in a pickle. What a mistake. We trusted them. I have sent them an invoice from the vet, an email explaining everything as well as a picture of our poor pups bloody butt, as well a phone call to the front. We of course requested a full refund considering this has been so horrific. Haven't even gotten a phone call back from the person who "can approve refunds". We live in the neighborhood and will make sure to spread the word! ^^ this was now two weeks ago, we are still getting our dogs back on track after this visit. More vet visits. And still no contact back from Doozy Dogs! Disgraceful. read more

My dog's been coming here at least once a week for daycare for a few months now and absolutely loves it. As soon as we get onto the same block, she can't contain her excitement. I had a very bad experience with Doozydog Club, and I hope it helps others when considering a place to board their cherished pet. I live very close to this dog hotel and the first time I booked a 2 night stay for my small dog I was impressed. The check in was quick, the front desk staff seemed nice and they gave me a tour. It was only a 2 night stay, but when I picked up my dog, everything seemed fine and they were also fast at check out. I recently re-booked a stay for this past Thanksgiving. It was a longer stay and I booked a dog suite since I have an older tiny dog and didn't want him staying in the open pen where he could be attacked or injured. The stay was $100 a night and it was for multiple nights. Drop off once again was quick as well as pick up. But my real concern is when I brought my little guy home. He was in major pain. I didn't connect it with the stay until a few hours later when I took him for a walk and he started to cry. As he went to the bathroom, he began to poop out towels. It was actual cloth and not just a little, but seemingly a never-ended poop trail of towels which I also had to help him get out (not fun for either of us!). I called Doozydog Club and spoke with the store general manager Andrew Phebus. I calmly told him about the incident and asked how this could have happened? One of the biggest claims when I was researching a dog hotel at this spot was the personalized attention and making sure your dog was safe and cared for. He apologized and said he'd immediately look into the issue. After a week of no response, I called the dog hotel back. Every time I called Andrew seemed to be away from the office, on break, or not available. I followed up with photos upon their request of the cloth that my dog digested (and excremented). I emailed several times. I never received any calls and no more than one email just saying they were looking into it. It is nearly a month later and I still have no explanation or any follow up from this faciility. For a place that claims to provide close care of the pets on site, this is really concerning. How did my dog ingest so much cloth without a worker seeing it? And even if they didn't find the answer, it would have been nice to at least get a follow up on what actually happened (or if they couldn't determine it). I was so disappointed in this place. And I caution any pet parent in leaving their dogs in their open dog pen environment. Clearly the staff isn't paying attention and the dogs can get into whatever they want. read more

Where do I start with this outstanding facility? We have been customers of DoozyDog for 5+ years. When we lived in D.C., we could walk our two dogs over to DoozyDog for daycare, boarding, or grooming. The front desk greeters really lived up to their job duties. Every employee that greeted us was always happy, friendly, and loving toward our dogs. We've been going to "the club" as we call it, for so long that we know the names of staff members! Koto is an amazing person and groomer. She takes the time to make sure our Akita looks her best when she leaves DoozyDog. Calvin is super patient with our very needy senior Chihuahua. Josh has really gone above and beyond for our Chihuahua and we're so grateful for him. Mishelle is so personable, caring, and knows our dogs so well. When we need to go away on vacation, we can rest easy knowing our dogs are in the capable hands of DoozyDog Club employees. Andrew, the Manager, is dedicated to getting to know his customers, human and canine. He works hard to ensure the employees keep the club spick and span. I've even commented to him that he has a talent for hiring "top paw" employees. He is responsive to my senior dogs' needs and is a friendly guy that I now consider a friend. Recently, I went to pick up our Akita and my toddler fell asleep in the car. I called the club and Caitlin was quick to understand my needs and had no hesitation in "valeting" Sasha right to my car so I wouldn't have to leave my little one. Oh, and no one does grooming at the level that DoozyDog Club does! Our dogs come back smelling SO good and are shining from head to paw. read more

DoozyDog is usually really clean, convenient, and efficient. I wanted to like it really badly. However, without being unnecessarily disrespectful or rude, I have to say that this was the worst grooming job my dog has ever received. DoozyDog, come on. Do better. My toy Australian shepherd was buzzed throughout, except for his neck and head which were left at a normal/clean and poofy 2 inch cut. It was noth even close to what I asked for when I spoke to the groomer. It is nothing like a standard shepherd/border cut. He looked so bad, in fact, that every person we passed on the walk home laughed, one even asked if he had surgery! How did this get by the staff honestly? You should be ashamed of yourselves taking people's hard earned money (which is being STRETCHED for everyone during this pandemic). It's unacceptable to pay over $70 for this service. read more

Heartbroken and angry. That's how I felt after stopping to watch the dogs in this facility. None of the dogs looked happy. None looked relaxed. The only human "interaction" was when an employee came in to clean up a mess. The dogs were so excited, but the employee neither said a word nor gave them a pat, let alone play with them or appear to care about dogs at all. There's no way I'd leave my dog here. It's a warehouse that appears to meet the bare minimum standards. The dog will probably be alive when you come to pick them up, but will not have received attention or love. We booked a simple grooming appointment and nail hair trimming for our long hair dachshund and when we picked him up his whole body had been shaved. Been taking my dog here for grooming since they first opened ages ago. They used to be great (before the pandemic). My dog would always come out like a freshly cleaned teddy bear, smelling like roses, with a bandana around his neck. No more. They've gone way downhill recently - inflating prices while dropping quality of service. These days my short/medium hair dog is always still wet when I pick him up (no blow-dry or brush?) and they frequently neglect to cut his dewclaws even when I remind them beforehand. I also pay extra for a de-shed but I usually just have to do it myself at home afterward (after waiting for him to dry off) because they've neglected to do it or don't seem to do it properly. The people who work the desk are always nice and sweet, so no disrespect to them, but whoever's in the back doing the grooming are not up to par. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I haven't complained to the staff while at the location because my dog is always shaking like a leaf when I pick him up and just wants to gtfo of there. So, finally, I think we're just never going back. Gonna have to find somewhere new. read more

Every time we come into town we bring our dogs for day care while we explore the city. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is immaculate and cheerful. There are floor to ceiling windows in the doggie play rooms so that you can see your dog interact with other dogs from the outside. My dog absolutely loves it here! They've taken great care of her for daycare and overnights, as well as the occasional grooming (she's short-haired so that's a much less frequent need). She gets excited beyond all reason whenever we walk through the door, so clearly it's got her paw seal of approval. I'm increasing this review for completely outstanding service by DoozyDog, but leaving it at 3 stars for level of talent of their groomers with poodles. The gm called me and returned my money, apologized, and set up a follow up appointment for clean up. That was well above what I expected from any company and I really appreciate it. I had some anxiousness about it, but I brought the dogs in for a clean up. They had a different groomer do this. Both poodles were just brought all the way down losing any shape that was in the original cut. I'm not a Groomer, so perhaps the hair wasn't able to be saved. Ears were still not plucked, but it was reasonably even. If you have a poodle, I would just pay the extra $20 and go to Masterpiece Groomers when they open back up. The groomers at doozy seem to cut most dogs fine, but this location does not have a groomer that is worthy of a $85 cut on a poodle. read more

BEWARE. Short: I have had my pup groomed multiple times at Doozy Dog, but have only boarded her there on 2-3 occasions. Due to the condition that my pup was in upon pickup after boarding, we will not be returning. With past boarding at Doozy Dog, Harley has been groomed prior to check out. However, during this stay, Doozy Dog forgot to groom her prior to checkout, as scheduled (the scheduling of which I confirmed both before and during check-in), and would not "fit her in" this afternoon despite the error being theirs. As frustrating and as inconvenient as this was, it was a blessing in disguise. If it were not for this failure-- I would not have seen the dried mound of feces that must have been clinging to my pup for the several day duration of her boarding (photos attached). Further, her and her belongings smelled atrocious. This begs the question as to whether this has happened in the past, and due to her grooming prior to checkout I've been unaware? I will not subject her to this again, nor do I intend to pay a premium to do so. I originally went to Doozy Dog because of their nice facility, and the fact that I could get my dog a private suite. However, these things are useless if what I experienced today reflects their usual standard of care. Note, as to the grooming issue -- they offered to schedule her next weekend. While I initially accepted, Harley's condition upon pickup resulted in my cancellation. The cherry on top, I heard someone yell her name in a harsh tone while I was waiting for her to be brought out. I chose this spot because it was convenient to my house, and now that my 6 month puppy is older--it's a lot harder to "tire her out." When I did my meet and greet, there was a lot of staff around and it seemed super pro-active. Fast forward to watching the camera throughout the day, and my 6 month puppy got HUMPED 17 TIMES by this one dog while she was trying to play with a black dog. There was no staff in the play area monitoring. No matter where she went, she was aggressively stalked and dangerously mounted by this brown dog, her play partner was not spared either. Luckily both dogs submitted, but I don't think this is "healthy play" and could have easily caused a problem were it another dog. It took 7 phone calls before I reached someone to ask to separate my dog. I bet if I hadn't been watching she would have spent the rest of her time trying to run and avoid this one dog. Does doozydog support this behavior? Where was the staff? Why aren't they monitoring the dogs closer? I don't understand why it took so long to get ahold of someone and why there isn't someone to correct this behavior. I already purchase a 24 punch card, and willing to give this place a second chance and update my review as my puppy continues to go there. read more

I wanted to treat my dog to a spa day today for his 4 year rescue anniversary (which was discussed in my initial phone call) the man on the phone listed a blueberry facial and teeth cleaning to be added. I remember him repeating back to me the 3 things were listed in puffs appointment. Well...my boyfriend takes puff the morning of my Dogs big day! Checked him in and SPECIFICALLY said he's here for a blueberry facial DIDNT even mention the wash and cut. No facial, no teeth cleaning, EVEN THE COMPLIMENTARY treat and bandanna was not given to puff that listed on their website!!. Called the manager, she very unsympathetic and kept repeating "you weren't charged for it" when I don't care about the money, that's not the issues I am heartbroken for puff that his special day was completely ruined by this place. And their lack of professionalism to do their job!! To top it off His haircut is pretty awful. He is a long haired chihuahua, the photos I received the man is wearing his mask on his chin while handling puff. Not a happy dog mom right now! The manager finally offered a complimentary facial if I brought HIM BACK (he was so scared he does not like spa days. My roommates boarded our dog (he is pretty old, mostly blind and deaf) at Doozydog for 4-5 days. He normally gets around our house just fine and does not have any serious pre-existing conditions. When we picked him up on the last day, we literally had to carry him out of the facility because he couldn't get up or move at all. His back legs had completely given out, his fur was matted because he had peed himself multiple times -- he was essentially in a stupor. A couple days in, we had checked the webcam of the main room where they keep the dogs, and he was laying on his stomach with his back legs splayed out and had pooped himself due to stress. We're not sure how long he was in that position, and WE had to frantically call the staff to ask them to help our dog and clean him up. Additionally, our dog was groomed before we picked him up, and yet again -- no one called to tell us he was in distress, that his back legs had given out, nothing. If we had known, we would have removed him immediately. This is completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and a very scary experience to go through. It's been 3 days since he left Doozydog and he is just barely starting to recover -- we still have to carry him up and down stairs. He could have died. Bottom line: when you take your dog to a daycare facility, you should be able to trust that the staff will care for him and at the VERY least notify you if something is wrong. Never again. read more

I live down the street and have always thought this was a good place to leave my dog. However, there is a large window on Florida Ave that looks into Doozy and I happened to be walking up and looking in when I saw a taller man working there that reached down to slap a dog. I gasped on the street, horrified, and then watched him drag two more dogs in by their collars, shoving them in by their necks and then throw another two into kennels that were elevated. I brought my two pups Woori and Max and my poor Max got absolutely traumatized from his stay at the doozydog club. Max is very shy and he needs his sister Woori to feel comfortable in a new environment. When I brought them for a meet and greet trial both were sent to the medium dog room and both passed. When I dropped them off last Thursday for a full day daycare, they somehow moved Woori to the small dog room and left Max alone. When I went to pick them up Max was all sticky covered with pee and absolutely dehydrated (He doesn't drink water when he's too nervous). I just couldn't believe how no one paid attention to him and let him suffer all day. The next morning Max refused to come out of the bedroom and was barking at the door nonstop. I brought my bernedoodle in for a haircut after it had been a few months. I knew she would need a shorter cut due to some matting. Her body looked great. However, the groomer butchered the trim around her face and completely shaved her tail. Her hair was so uneven on her face that I had to cut a significant amount of hair myself after spending over $100 on a haircut. It looked like he trimmed one side (poorly) and forgot entirely about the other. I sent an email afterward asking for a call back to discuss my concerns and never received a call back. READ BEFORE CONSIDERING Taken my dog here several times, she's a very healthy dog with up to date vaccinations. Every time I board her (in a suite) I end up spending half as much on vet bills. The first time I boarded her for a week she had been exposed to Giardia, this time around it was kennel cough. When I picked her up most recently after boarding her for all of 4 DAYS she walked down the stairs coughing, hacking, and wheezing and the individual at the front desk saw nothing wrong with it. In fact I'd go so far as to say they simply didn't care. This is my first Yelp review. Frankly I think it's a waste of time to be so critical of a business but this operation is extremely questionable. It would be nice to find out the reservation that took a week to get has been canceled by the groomer prior to waking up early on a Sunday morning and driving to the place (not a morning person). Since the groomer left there was nothing the manager could do. To be completely fair and honest we were 15mins late. Funny thing is our very first time coming we waited for the groomer, who was running late by 20mins. However I was understanding and accommodating. I have so many great things to say about Doozydog! Club that it's hard to remember the entire list. But first, an anecdote: I had some very mixed experiences with dog daycares starting in 2016 when I first got my Airedale puppy. I was in Santa Barbara at the time, and religiously took my dog to a very monopolized dog daycare over there. They were extremely overpriced, and towards the end of my time in the SB area, I started to lack trust in the employees taking care of my pup (this was all based on one pretty disappointing experience). From then on out, I vowed to never take my dog to a daycare ever again. All of that has changed since I walked through the doors of Doozydog. This is an amazing establishment. The facilities are extremely clean and spacious. You can tell immediately that the employees there have huge hearts for the dogs. My dog, being the big rambunctious one, is always so excited to run through the doors of Doozydog. It's really heartwarming to see when I bring him, because I can feel how much he loves the place. In addition to their clean facilities and their wonderful staff, Ruby (the manager) is absolutely phenomenal. She is extremely enthusiastic, really takes pride in the quality of her business, and is very responsive to her customers. It takes a lot of patience and willingness to work for or run a dog daycare (believe me, I can only IMAGINE how difficult it is to consistently clean up after 20+ dogs). Ruby always has a smile on her face, and is really optimistic, yet also very methodical in how she runs her business, which makes me and my s/o feel reassured that our dog is always in the best of hands. I cannot thank her enough for her commitment to their mission to always tend for the dogs, and to really show each and every pup a great time. I have not tried the grooming yet, but it sounds like the dogs get treated like kings and queens. I will have to update my review if I ever decide to get my dog groomed there! Finally, the pricing. Ruby had a promotion during the beginning of the year which allowed me to collect 12 days for the price of a 10 day package. Regardless of this promotion, you can't beat their prices. Yes, it may be expensive for some, but I went to a dog daycare that used to charge $50+/day. I am extremely content with the price, as I believe it's reasonable given the quality of their employees, as well as their amenities. Overall, I couldn't recommend Doozydog enough! This has been such a great experience for my dog, and the fact that I can watch my dog on webcam is very reassuring. I would give Doozydog 10 stars if I could, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to settle for 5 on Yelp. So note to those who are shopping around for dog daycares - PLEASE do not hesitate to try out Doozydog. If you mention Yelp, I think you're able to get a free day of daycare, so long as your dog passes their socialization test (which is routine for a LOT of dog daycares). Hmm.... Something odd must've happened the last 1-2 times I took my 3 year-old Boston Terrier (Fred) to Doozy. Each time we went for bath & brush service (with a few add ons) he happily walked away with the staff member. This last time he clearly did not want to go and was pulling on the leash when I left. Maybe 5-10 min after I got home (10 blocks away), they called and said he was ready to be picked up. I remarked Wow, that was fast! The guy just said, "uh huh, see you soon." I arrived, checked out and someone brought Fred downstairs. He could not get out there fast enough. The woman behind the counter commented - as if speaking for Fred "I don't wanna talk about it." I thought that was weird but blew it off. I didn't connect the dots until now, but ever since that day, every time we brush him, wipe his face or paws, he starts trembling. He often runs away and hides under the couch before and after we do any of it. I adopted him a year ago. In that time, he has NEVER been afraid of me. Now, the site of a brush or conditioner in my hand terrifies him. I really wanted Doozy to be our go-to groomer, but after this experience and reading some other stories here, we'll be checking out other options. read more

Our dog went to Doozy Dog for grooming and boarding for years and we were always impressed with the professional, excellent work of Doozy Dog's staff. However, their recent kindness deserves special note. While our family was out of town on vacation, our very old dog suffered from a stroke and was clearly facing the end. The team called me right away to share the news. As we were organizing a way to get home, Doozy Dog's staff transported our dog to and from the vet, cleaning him as he could no longer walk, tending to him, and making him feel as comfortable as he could before we could be there. They were so kind and caring with our family, went above and beyond to help our dog, and stayed in touch throughout the process. I can't say enough positive things about how attentive the team was. read more

We took our pup here for boarding due to a last minute trip out of town. We gave him a bath only a week before we dropped him off but when we picked him up, his legs and belly were covered with brown stuff and he smelled very bad (mix of strong chemical, cleaning solution maybe? and the smell of urine). During his stay, I checked camera regularly but every time when I checked the camera, there was nobody there but there were at least 8-12 dogs there at any given time. I doubt they clean the facility frequently. Take your pup here only if you absolutely have no other options. We will never return. read more

I can't recommend Doozydog's grooming services enough! We brought our golden retriever in for a bath, brush, and overall clean up. Since we had never been to Doozydog we had a ton of questions that they were so patient in answering! The folks here are super friendly and super responsive! Love that they have a customer portal that is really easy to use and manage your appointments, documents etc. The grooming on our dog was FANTASTIC. He smelled so good and the cut was absolutely perfect. When we picked him up he was happy and excited and clearly had a great experience at Doozydog. Our dogs seem to really enjoy Doozydog! We have a 2 year old, 100 pound Saint Bernard mix and a 5 month old French Bulldog. We take the dogs to Doozy if we're going to have a long day at work or if we just want a break from them. Both pups are always excited when they arrive and are good and pooped out when we pick them up. They usually sleep most of the day after also! The staff there is great and the Manager, Andrew, is very friendly and professional. It's obvious that they really care about the pups. We use the grooming services too and have never been unhappy. This place is truly amazing!! My friend and I had reservations at a restaurant nearby for brunch and we were unable to take our 7 month puppy in the restaurant and unable to obtain outdoor seating. We tried calling so many places for daycare and no one was able to fit us in. We then called doozydog club. They were extremely busy, but still fit us in. Our puppy evaluation was short. They are so friendly and welcoming. The place was super clean. After leaving my puppy, I was a little anxious as it was all last minute. 3 hrs later when we went to pick him up, our puppy was so happy and seems to have had a great day. They did not even charge us a dollar for the service as it was just a test day. We will definitely give them a call the next time I am in the city. They are amazing!!
