Wow - Absolutely worth the stop 100 times over. I found Dorado's Bakery on Yelp & immediately knew we had to stop by. When we pulled into the parking lot, I was a little perplexed. No windows. No signs of life. A little ominous. But we trusted the process. It was the tiniest lil' bakery shop of all time. The nicest man was behind the counter, available to help us & answer any questions we had. Almost everything on the shelves was priced at $1. We loaded up bags & bags of pastries - Things we didn't recognize, things we thought looked interesting, things that were colorful, things that smelled good... Our total was $16. We gave the nice man a $20 & said keep the change, because it felt like we were making out like bandits. I can't eat the pastries because I'm gluten intolerant, but I've watched my family members taste test everything from our haul & the response has been a resounding WOW this is so good. What a hidden gem! Super close to the salt flats and a great spot to get a bite on the go or just sit down for a bite! This small and simple metal building stands alone just a few turns off the interstate but houses amazing, traditional, Spanish pastries. We ordered a simple concha and Mexican cinnamon cookie. They reminded us of San Antonio's best. The man before use ordered a wide variety fill two sacks. Looked like for either a party or dessert tray in a local restaurant. He was obviously a regular. The only thing missing was a great cup of coffee, but it is a bakery, not a coffee shop. Orders are to-go. Oh my gosh we made a haul!!! With 6 kids in tow - we could try everything!!! I think we got at least one of everything. Every thing was super sweet - except for that Concha - I didn't know what that was till this place. Which was my favorite. Probably for that reason. The churros were gone first with my crew. I made a Yelp account just to review this bakery! I had quite literally the best Concha of my life from this place and I have lived in Southern Arizona and Southern California all my life. It was the size of my head and the churro was perfection. All the pastries were phenomenal and affordable! The owner/baker was kind, helpful, welcoming and even served us before he officially opened because we had the opening time wrong. I can not recommend this place highly enough! This bakery is not closed, I'm not sure why Yelp says it is. I got a pineapple pastry and a pound cake looking item. The pineapple pastry was interesting, but I wish there were less jam, less sugar, and more actual pineapple. The pound cake was good but was a bit sweet as well.
