I've been with Debbie Potter's office for almost 10 years, and in the past 2 years the service has…read moregone in the toilet. Last year one of her employees cancelled my home owners policy so my home had no insurance for over a month before the BANK informed me that my policy had been cancelled. Then they never processed my flood insurance request so I had no flood insurance even though I live right on a bayou. They apologized and told me they'd do better so I stayed with them. Well, today was the last straw; I had a water pipe break on the weekend. I got the water turned off, and then I called the office because I didn't know what steps to take next because I knew this would be an insurance claim based on the amount of damage. The office recording said, "If this is an emergency, call Debbie at home at...." So I called the number because I didn't know what I needed to do and I wanted her to guide me. No answer on the "emergency contact" number. So I left a message thinking someone will call me back quickly. Nope. They finally called after almost 36 hours. I advised them I'd already taken care of the issue myself. Not exactly helpful to say "call this number in an emergency" and then to never bother answering your emergency calls. This is what I pay an insurance agent for... that THEY handle all this and I don't have to phone insurance companies, and figure out what I'm supposed to do and when. If I wanted to be ignored in an emergency I'd go with eSurance or some cheap online service insurance company that doesn't have agents. An insurance agent is supposed to be MY support during a crisis. Frankly I'm not getting that at all anymore... so I'm going to be taking my business elsewhere. So disappointed.

She is knowledgable, thorough, efficient, incredibly accessible, and proactive. We always get a quick turnaround with a question or an issue. She knows Farmer's products inside and out, is able to offer us very well-thought-out coverage options that match our needs and budget, and knows how to carefully interpret the policies when we need to file a claim. These past weeks, she has been helping us with someone hitting my parked car, busting my headlight and bumper, and driving off without leaving a note (jerk thing to do). She has made the claims and repair process seamless - including arranging for a rental car - even though I was out of state for part of the time. This is not the law, nor is it necessary. So after all my issues with them, I couldn't even cancel my policy through her. I really hope this agent gets better representatives to help at this location. I have specifically left just because of her... I'm happy to not be a customer here anymore. On August 21, 2022 Vickie was made aware of new replacement cost calculators at SafePort Insurance Company that would be in place if she didn't bind home insurance policies by September 12, 2022. She NEVER made me aware of this as I could have paid for my policy by then and it wouldn't have been an issue. Our policy expires September 25, 2022 and when I asked to pay it on September19, 2022, she told me it would be $3,000 more blaming it on SafePort. When I called SafePort myself, they set the record straight and let me know Vickie was aware of this change in August and the increase was due to her lack of attention to their notice. Due to her incompetence, we would have to pay $3,000 more for home insurance. I asked her to make the situation right and for her to cover the additional cost we were going to incur. She simply said, "find another agent." I would definitely look elsewhere for an insurance agent. I will be contacting the insurance licensing agency to file a complaint.

According to her, I am not allowed to request an ELP service because they have to keep calling me every time I make a request. She also claimed that they are the only local provider in my zip code and it's their territory which is not true, as another local provider had already contacted me. When it comes to shopping for home and auto insurance, I want at least three providers to compare. The agent seemed annoyed and entitled, expecting me to only wait for them. I have been using the ELP service for years and have always had a positive experience, but this is the first time it has not been the case. This insurance provider is unprofessional and gives the Dave Ramsey ELP service a bad reputation.
