I…read moreended up walking from the Equinox resort to this loop trail and back and the overall round trip took me less than one hour with a decent pace. Seeing the trail map, I expected to be walking the perimeter of the pond at water's edge the entire time, but this was not the case. The majority of the trail does not have a view of the water. Only at the very end, if walking counter-clockwise, is there a small section where the pond pavilion is located, can you walk up to the water. Also take note, there isn't any public parking for this trail so I would recommend coming on foot or even biking up to the entrance. Overall, a pleasant nature walk, though it's more woodland trail than waterside promenade.

Red-winged blackbirds zip around looking for picnic crumbs, there's lots of shade, and the lake is shallow enough around the edge for my two young grandchildren to play. We had my grandson's 6th birthday party here and used one of the charcoal grills to make hot dogs. Be prepared to bring a table and chairs because all of the picnic tables have been removed due to COVID. The lake closes at sunset. Go!

There is a revolutionary war era cemetery near by. Several picnic tables available and a porta potty. This year we were here in mid June and the mosquitoes were brutal. No amount of repellent would keep them away from ourselves or our dogs. But the views were still spectacular.

The YMCA is permanently closed, and instead we found an elementary school where you can park, alongside which you begin through a short woodsy path and then must walk maybe 1/4 mile through the neighborhood before discovering the trail. The hike is a beautiful gentle up and down through the woods and along a river. It's only about 2 miles in-and-back, mostly very easy, but has a few tricky but fun spots where you may have to navigate over a tree trunk or carefully walk over rocks/uneven terrain at the edge of a shallow point in the river . The waterfall is a nice feature where you can sit and enjoy the sound and vibe before you turn around to head back.

I dragged my son in with me and he wants to make a trip back to this park already. There are multiple softball grounds and has some historic significance which I have no clue. I can't call it a "large park" because the areas where you can do stuff (a playground, a seven-move fitness area) don't take up a lot of real estate. It is, perhaps, a perfect sized park. We came for the playground area and it was a lot of fun. There were many slides and steps for kids to climb on, but I can say it wasn't built for toddlers. School age kids would appreciate the reach and engage with the challenges more. There was some candy on the ground (and bees... boo) but we were able to avoid them. Swings and ladders provided lots of areas to play. It is built on wood chips, not that rubber stuff, if that matters to you. It looks like this area was an old school, as a very large round paved area could have been a running track at one time. Another large, rectangular area seems the right size for a basketball court area. Now, both are just flat pavement. The area is bounded by several hills which likely would be great for sledding. There were also several picnic tables for snacking on, and a water fountain which was sadly enclosed with a fence. Parking was plentiful. This seems like such a nice playground in seemingly the middle of nowhere. I hope more kids discover and enjoy it.

Rating 4.7 Came to…read morevisit for a short walk to the thundering brook falls. It's located in killington VT. Once we arrive we parked on the aide of street as designated parking is very small. The area is connected to other hiking trails as well but the fall trail is just 0.5 mile. The trail itself is maintained well and has solid wooden path and some gravel along the last part of the trail. We changed into hiking shoes but was probably not necessary. There are lots of flowers along the way and as we get close to the fall we go into area with lots of shade, trees and moss/rocks. The fall itself is very pretty and the water runs down to the river at the bottom. It took us about 20min roundtrip. It's a nice and easy walk that are kids and dog friendly and provide pretty view. A must stop for all visitors coming to Vermont.
