The Pumpkin Croquettes were a slightly sweet and crispy version of traditional croquettes, deep-fried to perfection, with a light and smooth finish. Two will set you back a mere £3.10. While the spring rolls are good, I highly recommend the Vegetarian Duck Rolls, made with slightly sweet tofu skin, spring onions, cucumber, and Hoi Sin sauce. Three of those healthy rolls are a whopping £4.60. Finally, the Chicken Yakitori was also a dish worth it's weight in pounds, char-grilled to perfection and doused in a sweet yakitori sauce. A few skewers costs around £4.10. The rest of the menu is not only enormous, but sure to please any seafood-lover, especially sushi. They serve just about any Asian-inspired dish you can think of, including salads, ramen dishes, rice dishes, noodles of many different varieties, tempura, and sushi rolls, with a perfectly-paired sake menu to boot. The Bibimbap with Bulgogi Beef is one of my favorites, thus far, with the perfect ratio of rice to beef, kimchi to veggies. It's one hearty dish, so come hungry. The Signature Fried Chicken is also done to perfection, and if you've ever had Korean Fried Chicken before, you know what I'm talking about. It's not expensive, but sadly, you only get 2 pieces. Believe me, you will want more. I can also vouch for the cocktails. Being a girly drinker myself, I can't pass up a delicious fruity cocktail from people who know how to put it together well. Arang, however, charges for the banchan (and we had to buy 2 "orders" of banchan for the 5 of us; each banchan order comprised of 3 small meager dishes), as well as for the kimchee, the namuls - we even had to pay extra for the lettuce leaves for eating the grilled meat as ssam! I can't tell you how dismaying it is to be nickel-and-dimed this way (or would this be "penced-and-shillinged" in Britain?) as it really detracted from the pleasure and hospitality of Korean barbecue. Other than the barbecue offerings, Arang's other dishes are uneven in quality and taste. Their bindaeduk was very thick, un-crispy, as well as un-flavorful, and was made the cheap and easy way with mung bean powder rather than ground fresh mung beans. A mixed seafood and vegetable rice dish (haemul-deopbap) was more American Chinese than Korean (and tasted it too - not to diss American Chinese cookery, that is). However, a Korean mixed seafood fry (modom-jeon) was quite tasty - and thank goodness it was, as it was one of the priciest items in their menu. The service was good, however, attentive and polite, and the waitress working our grill was a delight. That kept our collective opinion of Arang at 3 stars rather than 2.

The soy milk noodles -- the dish we had specifically come in for -- still hadn't arrived 20 minutes after that. When we asked, we were told "five more minutes." Those five minutes passed with nothing, so we asked again, and were only then told that the wagyu for the noodles had run out. Not delayed -- unavailable, and presumably had been for a while. Nobody thought to mention it. We cancelled the dish and asked for the bill. In more than an hour, not one member of staff came over to explain, apologise, or check on us. The service charge was still added. Slow kitchens happen. What isn't excusable is leaving a table sitting for an hour with no communication at all, letting them keep waiting for something you already know you can't make, and then charging for service. Won't be back.

We opted for two okonomiyakis which was the perfect amount of food for us -- Osaka with pork / kimchi / prawns and Sapporo Mix with squid / prawn / salmon / scallops / corn. The staff cooked everything in front of our eyes and they were very attentive throughout the entire process. Once everything was done cooking, they cut up the okonomiyaki for us, and the finished product was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend!
