I can distinctly remember the experience of trying to purchase an iron-on t-shirt on the Wildwood…read moreboardwalk in the 80s and 90s: dance music blasting out of every store, "that guy" standing outside, hooting and hollering at all the girls and boys walking by, trying to lure them into the store to buy something. And then the negotiating would begin. It was next to impossible to get these places to tell you what the final cost of your t-shirt would be until after they pressed it. That $5 t-shirt advertised on the wall would suddenly skyrocket to the $20, maybe more, depending on what decal you selected, and then another few bucks to wax over the print so it would hold up in the wash. Of course, none of these costs would be disclosed to you until it was too late, and oftentimes they'd try to rope you into buying a second t-shirt for a discounted price before giving you the tally for the one you actually wanted. It was an experience that left you feeling dirty and far poorer than when you first walked in. So when my kids asked me if I would buy them t-shirts last week as we walked the boards, I was quite leery. Even worse was the idea of trying to buy them in a store called Deja Vu. But this store looked as good as any. No loud, obnoxious club music blaring away, and "that guy" was nowhere in sight. A friendly Russian girl was the only person working in the store, who greeted me without immediately launching into the hard sale. Apparently, the shady practices of the past have given way to far more straightforward pricing: all blank t-shirts are priced as marked and any decal is free with each purchase. $5 more if you want the wax protection. In the end, I escaped unscathed. Two $9.99 t-shirts, each with a decal of my kids' choice, plus the $10 to protect them both. That latter part may very well still be a scam for all I know, but at $15 a shirt, I felt like I got a good deal. Would have cost a lot more 20 years ago, believe it or not. #progress

This is the smallest Burlington I have ever been in…read more It is organized, sometimes a little over filled racks, but well managed. I have gone in not really with a set thing in mind but just to look and have come out with something that either smelt great, looked delicious or found something super functional for my space. Some items are a bit pricy for the genre of store but I just move on down the rack. Customer service is pretty good too. Have not run into an unhelpful employee yet.

This was late February or early March and fortunately the store was open. We were greeted by a person who I suspect was the owner. We explained the situation and we were totally impressed by the great treatment we received. The replacement turned out to be less expensive than the item returned and I was refunded the difference.I didn't have a receipt and no idea what the shirt cost. I thought I have to review this interaction and kept forgetting to do so. While out to diner I saw a lady wearing a Sand Jamm shirt this evening which motivated me to finally do the review. I walked in with my children so my son could purchase a hermit crab. The music was blaring in our ears so I could barely hear the girl " Maya" helping us. She gave us the dirtiest, broken cage they had. She acted like she was giving me a "discount" but in reality it was their broken, dingy items that wouldn't have sold anyway. Their things look like they've been sitting in a dirty attic for ages. Before she gave it to us she dumped out whatever junk was inside. My poor son was sick so we had to leave our vacation early and these people made it even worse. We walked past another store to check out extra shells and the lady told us that our cage was dirty, broken and had no handle. That we were completely scammed. The price we were offered for the same items was significantly lower than the "discount" at waves. When I went back to explain this to the staff, they pointed at the sign that said no exchanges or returns. They tried to bring me a smaller cage after haggling back and forth for a while. They were so rude, nasty and YELLING at me. Lied and said he was the owner and when I asked his name he said none of your business. The man then said this is my money why would I give it back to you? No exchanges or returns. And the girl told me I couldn't talk about them to other people when another customer asked me what happened and witnessed them screaming at me! I've never seen someone so greedy over 40 dollars. They were SCAMMERS! They sent us over to their "other store" a few stores down and finally exchanged the cage for another dirty looking one with a handle. Long story short avoid this place. They are straight up scammers. I don't know how people get away with this kind of behavior

Be extra careful if they try to throw in a deal that's too good to be true or if you visit, an employee immediately asks you if you want that decal. Be firm, they do try to pressure you. After a heated discussion and being told they can't refund they eventually refunded us back to adjust the price to $10 a sweatshirt. Although math still isn't right, I cut my losses. Our total came to $437 for 4 sweatshirts. They do not give you your total until after they print the sweatshirt. Horrible experience! They wouldn't let us keep our receipts after the "refund" unless we signed a paper stating we were taking the receipts. I have never in my 40 years living in Jersey and going to the shore come across such crooks.
