Prost, Cheers, Salut! Whatever form that you celebrate too a…read moreliquor store is near. What time it? It's time for cheers and beers right! Claiming Vegas as my backyard, for a minute the moments that I needed an extra boost, I found here. Happy can be found in whatever feeds your needs at the moment. My moments as I do work in this small little town will be remembered when I reach for the potion that kept me warm and secure. I breezed in as fast as I breezed out. Snooze that alarm clock goes off and I wake up. The snooze is a must because the sun is not even up yet. Maybe snooze one more time. As I remember to stand, I make it to the drink; I'm trying to recall the memories that might have been, the moments that I'm living now. It's another day, let's visit this little store to seek what makes my moments more bearable. Back in town again, the local hotel it's walking throws to this store. The clerk does not know my name. He smiles and probably wonders why he's here. The small brown bag are just the joys of my life as of now. These are my todays, these are the past moments that were my days. These days are now a little brighter and less broken. We all must go through moments of transition as pen this and recall the past, this is where these times stay. Now into the future, yes the future brings joy too! Who would of thought? Times do change, again recalls of the past make todays even better! It reminds me of some words that "you" shared with me. Then, the days these moments when I breezed into town held these moments and memories are never gonna happen to be the same. The days always seemed to move together and in a mesh of fixed blurs. No smiles grazed my face, the memories before your name took these moments and made them reflections in the fast. The moments I lived, my old days fade away when your name pops in my brain. Let that play again, "the moments I lived, my old days fade, when your name pops in my brain." An ordinary life and moments reflect in the mirror are the past: replaced with in between hope and ultimate joy. Some habits must be buried and bring better days! As it seems now, my days and thoughts of needing a bottle or two or three to soothe me are over; this store was the foundation of my visits when I came to town to work. Sure it's an ordinary liquor store in the middle of a no where town in any given city; but the kindness of the clerk made me happy. A smile and conscious genuine joy of other human beings was all the standards that one needs especially when we feel so low and alone. If you ever roll through here stop in for that "drink of choice," as needed. But the liquor store stocks hard to find sodas that you may of only had as a kid. Take a stroll down memory lane, or just wander in so the store clerk can smile at someone and be reminded of humanism too. Smile and pass along joy in the wink of the moment you meet another's glance. Remember we are all in this together, it's always better to be nice for it makes life much easier and happier!

Japanese Sakè (sah keh) made in the high country of northeastern Arizona by a Tōji/master Sakè…read morebrewer from Yokohama, Japan seems like a mirage in the dry, arid, high desert in an area known more for Navajo Native American culture than creation of East Asian libations. On the return trip to see the total solar eclipse in Dallas, I went on I-40 to visit various iconic Route 66 towns on the Mother Road, Holbrook being one of them. I called Arizona Sakè around 8am as I was approaching Holbrook to see if I could get an appointment and got a prompt text message saying that Arizona Sakè would be ready for me at my eta at 9:30am. Atsuo Sakurai (ah tsoo oh · Sah koo rah ee) is the mastermind behind Arizona Sakè who has created a rare type of Nama/unpasturized Sakè (sah keh) that still has active probiotic yeast left from the fermentation process as his chef d'oeuvre/masterpiece since it won best in class at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition and gold in the Tōkyō Sakè Competition 2018 for Sakè made outside of Japan. His technically well finished yet unorthodox Sakè definitely has unique flavours with roots in northern Arizona that will go well with American BBQ, steaks, game meats, hamburgers, hot dogs, and I would suspect Navajo cuisine. At the same time, I can see a pairing with red meat Sashimi like Hon Maguro & fatty cuts like Toro & Hamachi. Be ready to sample about 3 different Sakè: 1) Junmai Ginjo Class, Nama, "The Premium One": Nama means raw, uncooked in Japanese which in this case means unpasturized. That means that the Kōbo/yeast & Kōji/special mold, which help change starch into alcohol, are still active to help add more beneficial flora into the digestive system. Refrigeration is suggested to keep the Sakè fresh. Rich, smooth sweetness yet touch dry with bit of ripe pear & apple along with toasty, light nuttiness balanced by a bit of refreshing acidity. It's a pleasing, robust Sakè that will definitely pair well with American Barbecue or meaty, beefy hamburgers. 2) Navajo Tea Sakè I Googled Navajo Tea and learned that it is the desert plant known as greenthread. The greenthread stems in the bottle add an unmistakable high desert vibe to this Sakè. Faint cherry blossom, green plum. Sweet, smooth, earthy toastiness. I paired Taiwanese Lobster with heavy hoisin sauce, garlic, red chiles, and it went well. 3) Herbs & Bitters: Cinnamon, French thyme, musky, earthy, touch smoky, apple pear cider. Really went well with Carré d'Agneau/lamb chops marinated in rosemary, garlic, cracked black pepper. 4) Prickly Pear Sakè: Bright magenta colored!!! Smooth, fruity, may be the best for preprandial apéritif to whet the appetite before start of the meal. Or as a chilled sipping Sakè. Arizona Sakè's big, bold flavours may not always pair well with classic Japanese Èdo Maè Sushi nor Sashimi. But can handle California Sushi where mayonnaise, Sriracha garlicky chile sauce, and extra sweet "eel sauce" hold reign. Also, Japanese Tempura, Nimono/ soy sauce braised cooking would work well. Arizona Sakè's strength lies in being great with non-Japanese cuisines such as other Asian cuisines, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Italian, etc. Arizona Sakè is definitely worth a detour when in northeast Arizona. 5 stars for a unique Sakè experience found no where else in the Sakè universe. Btw, hope that you found Chateau Roumier, Sauternes, 2020 to be of interest for your sophisticated palate.

Apart from truly an "A winning Arizona craft sake" experience- meeting the brewer himself was pretty awesome. The sake he crafts is smooth and with unique flavors to represent the diversity of the state and its flora (Navajo Tea, Prickly Pear...). More cool info and bio of the master sake brewer featured in the Smithsonian magazine and NPR.

We questioned her about the price, and she snapped at us and said that we didn't tip her so she took it upon herself to begin charging double for the price of one drink. SERIOUSLY?! Tips are a privilege, not a right! Be careful when stopping here, and do not leave cash on the bar table because she will help herself to that too! Is this lady on crack or what?!

I was DISGUSTED earlier today when I went in to buy my usual and not only was there a OBVIOUS MINOR, had to be no more than 15 behind the counter (AGAINST THE LAW!) but she was DISGUSTINGLY DISRESPECTFUL and insulting to the poor lady upfront who has ALWAYS BEEN SO KIND. Not only that but I believe it to be this startling disrespectful little girls mother was also harassing Maria and calling her names, mistreating her in front of a line of customers!! No wonder where this girl gets her influence from!! Great role model!!! It is inconceivable that Maria even apologized to me after what I had witnessed. 100% disappointed. If it wasn't t for Maria I would NEVER go back to this place. Some kind of authority needs to be put in place here. Ruined my day. I am appalled, outraged and disgusted. Someone help this lady.
