This was my 25th wedding anniversary and the wife always wanted to swim with the manatees...what a great decision to go with Double J. If you want to enjoy time with the manatees with a team that makes the trip worth it... Double J Adventures is the place. We saw numerous manatees and the captain always gauged what the customers wanted and took us to some really great spots. CPT Garret was from the area and made sure we were taken care of. The 3 sister springs was the ending spot where we relaxed in the warm water and still spotted manatees on the way back to to boat. We are so glad we did a trip with Double J Adventures! Have to admit that I initially planned on booking with 1 of the bigger operators, but they did not have slots at the times we wanted. So I looked for other operators on TripAdvisor, and found really good reviews for Double J. Gave a quick call to Capt. Joanne, and booked for the trip on their website. On the actual day, we got the boat to ourselves (there were 6 in our party). Capt. Jo was enlightening, and explained everything to us. We went to 2 spots where we got to swim with not less than 6 or 7 different manatees. Also got to touch and interact with them quite a bit. In the course of the break, some of us needed to use the bathroom, and Capt. Jo very kindly obliged. She also lent us her waterproof camera, and emailed links to the photos to us the following day. All in all, a very special experience, with a really professional operator! Word of advice: go for the early tours before the place gets swarmed with visitors! read more

Amazing experience! Captains Joanna and Jeff are so accommodating and pay great attention to the customers! Was so nice to be on an exclusively private tour and not crammed on a boat with a big group of strangers! Accommodations for the tour were great and they had everything we needed to enjoy our time in the water with these local guides. Absolutely an amazing morning. The experience and customer service was outstanding. Seeing the manatees is a once in a lifetime experience.

I didn't review on my first trip (although I should have). I've now gone out scalloping twice, and they've had newbies and experts both on the trip. The captains are fantastically-patient with the newbies (which I was last trip), and the experienced scallopers are able to go do their thing. The captains make sure you come away with the loot for sure - if the scallops are there, they'll be on top of them. I don't think many other (if any) boats actually shuck the scallops for you either. As an added bonus, they taught us how to do it too. You don't HAVE to, but they're willing to show you how - which in my opinion only added to the awesomeness of the experience. Once we hit our limit (earlier than the allotted time), they were more than patient and allowed us to hang out and swim recreationally for a bit. We never felt rushed for anything. The Double J team are just genuinely good people, and they sincerely care about you having a good experience. read more

We did a private swimming with the manatees outing on Christmas Eve afternoon. Great experience! Our guide was so kind and helpful. She brought an underwater camera for us to use, and then later emailed us all the pictures. Further, we had our 4 year old with us who suddenly decided she refused to get in the water. Our guide happily entertained her so the rest of us could go in the water and view the manatees together. (We were in eye and ear shot of the boat; don't call Child Protection on me please.) When our swim time was done and we were almost ready to leave, we noticed a mother and baby manatee. Our guide took extra time to allow us to view these 2, and get some extra pictures.
