Recently ,I suffered a broken shoulder. It was my left side.I was healing,very slowly,with some severe complications.As luck would have it, on my way to the ortho surgeon, I SLIPPED ON ICE AND FELL,BREAKING MY OTHER SHOULDER!!! The E.R. DR. was so accomodating,and I had a really superb DR.in the E.R. He went to bat for me,insisting I be admited ...INITALLY, I WAS TREATED AT THE SMALL,INEFFETIVE LOCAL HOSPITAL,IN GLENWOOD,MN.I was in such ubearable pain,I decided to drive up to a real hospital.Douglas County Hospital/ Alomere Health.I was immediately taken into a very private room,in the E.R..The entire staff,nurses,Drs. and techs all had great bedside manners.There, a very conscice,and talented physcian was truly the best example of compassion, and skilled treatment.He felt the best solution was to stabIise my condition, and he went the extra mile to accomodate my real needs.I was swiftly rolled up to a nice quiet private room ,where every nurse and staff was attending to my every need. All worked so effortlessly to assure my comfort, and kind loving care! I was given a late meal, a delicious sandwich ,and treats too! I was well observed, so my treatment plan was specific to the tender issue .The following day, I was released in the afternoon .Even the aftercare was well planed. Now called Alomere, a non profit hospital. Unfortunately while visiting the incredibly beautiful city of Alexandria, I ended up needing life saving care here. From the emergency room (Dr Kitt) through surgery (Dr Lanham) and recovery, everyone was great. Maybe people in Minnesota are nicer? I enjoyed the three days I spent with this hospital except for the awful pain part, Lol. The hospital bed was really comfortable and the nurses (Aly)were so kind. Thank you very much. read more

My daughter had to have emergency surgery on Memorial Day. She was at a friend's cabin when she became ill and was taken to the hospital during the middle of the night. She was lucky, it was a very quiet evening and she got right in. They ran a number of tests and were able to get her scheduled for surgery that very morning. There was basically a skeleton staff working and people had to be called in because she was not the only emergency surgery that day. The staff came in, were on time, engaged and all in all very nice. Her surgery went well and she got to go home right away. The only downside or upside (I guess if you work there), even the lobby, was quiet, the gift shop was closed and they have no cafeteria or vending machines. So, if you are there with a family member you better stop on your way in if you need something to drink or eat. All in all, a very clean and caring environment. read more

Until tonight, I have always had really good experiences. However tonight we waited for 2 in the waiting room for 2 HOURS. We watched people who went in after got there go back and leave before we ever got back. I understand a busy night but it crazy. Im sure other times will be better. read more

I was brought in to the emergency room on November 3, 2016. The nurses and doctor were there to assess me immediately. I received the best care as they were talking to me all the time explaining what they were doing or going to do. They provided great, caring skills while I was in the hospital. hi, my name is Steve, i was brought into the emergency unit on 5/1/17, i don't remember much of my first couple nights, but my liver, lungs, and kidneys shut down, the staff did a great job, took very good care of me, to be honest, saved my life. i had Dr, Nelson, and forgive me but i cannot remember the initial Dr, but they were fantastic. a huge shout out to the RN Todd,on the second floor. a very respectful person, treated me with respect. was more like my brother than my nurse. i had a couple other very good nurses, once again, i apologize for forgetting names. but i did have a few good nurses, one bad nurse. i don't want to get anyone in trouble, but i would just ask this lady, to please find the love and compassion i believe she once had for her job. i understand people have bad days, but when someone is dying, they are unaware of what they do when they are in a medicated state, and wake up with there hands tied down.you know who you are. other than that, everyone was great. i have been told they wouldn't take anyone there. i disagree. great hospital and great staff read more
