One month before my 2-year contract ended, I called to cancel my subscription and I received confirmation that October 2019 would be my last charge. They charged me in November 2019. I sent them a message through FB asking for a refund and requesting my financial information be removed from their system, they confirmed it had been done. Two years later (Oct 2021), they billed my account. I sent them a message through FB and a message through their website asking them to refund my money and remove my financial information from their system. I have not heard back. I finally submitted a claim through my bank to block any future charges. Pay attention to your bank statement once you cancel your membership.

It seems like there's a limited understanding of proper technique, and a lot of what's demonstrated would likely lead to bad habits in the long run. The classes often lack structure, and it's difficult to follow a clear progression in the training. Speaking with others in the Jiu Jitsu community, I've heard similar concerns--many have noted that he curses frequently, which makes the environment feel unprofessional, especially when younger students are present. On top of that, unless you sign up for a formal class, you shouldn't expect any instruction or feedback from him. Speaking of the kids' program, I'd encourage anyone considering it to take a look at their social media. The classes seem more like unstructured playtime than a focused martial arts program, which may not align with what most parents are looking for in a Jiu Jitsu school.

Josie advised me that the best option for me would be a punch card that is 100$ for 10 visits. I'm not sure why anyone would buy the punch card if you can just pay the mat fee and still pay the same amount. Overall it seemed they were trying to wring as much money out of me as possible with no respect for the sport. Past gyms I have been to always made me feel welcome and it seemed more about establishing a community and spreading good energy, not about making as much money as possible. I was very excited when I saw the BJJ sign driving by but now I just feel disappointed.

I usually grab groceries at Safeway or Chinese food from Happy Wok while he's in class. He has loved making friends & us parents wait in our cars or watch creepily from the windows lol.
