Pretty well oiled machine, everything met my expectations, fishing, food, accommodations, great guides, owner was cool, Nicole, who ran the crew, is epic. This is my fourth year fishing Alaska in five years at all inclusives. Guess I've been lucky, haven't had a bad experience yet. This place is at the top. read more

My family and I did not stay at the Dove Island Lodge, but instead went for dinner. The service was impeccable from the very start. We were picked up at the main dock in town, and took a very short boat ride to the island. We were greeted by two waiters who had hot towels and cocktails ready for us as we pulled in and escorted us to the dining cabin. The executive chef came out to greet us, all by name, and asked us if we had any dietary restrictions. He was prepared to make anything from raw, palio, vegan, vegeterian, etc. The dinner was delicious! The whole experience was very personalized and relaxing. I would highly recommend to treat yourself to a dinner or stay for a special occasion! read more

As we end our Sitka vacation, I wanted to remember some of the wonderful things about Dove Island Lodge, our home for the week! The staff, the amenities, the location-- all amazing! And the food! The chefs served a different, creative 5-course dinner every night, with the only Wine Spectator-Award winning wine list in Alaska. With an incredible Scotch list too! We were also treated to a final night meal inside their Himalayan salt brick spa. Can't say enough good things about this place and how lucky we were to experience it! read more

This is advertised as a luxury fishing lodge. The meals were tasty and the chefs are extremely accommodating. The island itself is charming. The rooms come with a Jacuzzi, fireplace and sitting area. You do not have Wi-Fi in your room. It is only available in the main lodge room. The reason for the low rating is due to the fact that they never refunded my money for a boat excursion we paid for. We paid to have the boat to ourselves. My husband gets sea sick and we wanted to be able to return if he could not tolerate fishing in the ocean. On our way out to sea our boat broke down. Another boat was following us with 4 other guests in it. We joined their boat. I did fish but my husband was incapacitated the entire time. The other aspects of the trip were fine. I just did not think this very professional not to even approach us about a refund. I had to say something and they promised to send a check. I requested the refund in August 2016. It is now February 2017. So, I am putting it down as a loss. My flying fishing guide is the best. Flying in to fly fish was so much fun. If you want to catch fish, Dove Island is the place to go. read more

Five star food and top shelf drinks. Albeit, the food was kinda overpriced since we didn't get to have king crab and they actually didn't wait for us at the dock with drinks or hot towels but that's because it was rainy. We did get a tour of the place that made us want to come back again. I highly recommend for special occasions b/c of the price. read more

We came to Dove Island with another couple, our plan was to have an epic Alaskan vacation and that was exactly what we got! I would give them extra stars for the food if I could. Both chefs are extremely accomplished, and showed off their talents every evening. The owners and staff work really hard to accommodate every single guest. They are friendly and eager to help out any way they can. They orchestrate daily fishing trips, both salt and freshwater, like true professionals. Whether you are an experienced fisherman or a novice, the guides at Dove Island bend over backwards to make your experience special. And if you just want to "chill" the lodge is both beautiful and comfortable. There are jacuzzis, a sauna, a cute little bar with a patio, I could go on and on. The views are spectacular. They are also happy to plan a trip to town to see the Sitka sights if that is what want. Most of the other guests were returning to the lodge for 2nd or 3rd time, I can understand why. Dove Island Lodge is Five Star in every way. read more

This all inclusive lodge in Sitka is located on a small island in a sheltered bay, a ten minute boat ride from the dock in Sitka. It features very comfortable accommodations with decor appropriate for the area, world class gourmet dinners prepared by two chefs, great fishing for salmon, halibut, rock fish, ling cod, etc. The fishing was great. All fishing gear, boat with a very experienced captain who knows the surrounding waters very well, and fishing clothing and boots were included. We limited out on king salmon, rock fish, and halibut every day of our three day stay. The staff is very helpful, warm, friendly and eager to assist. The scenery is breathtaking! Snow capped mountains are viewed across the small inlet on one side and island dot the bay on the other. We saw sea lions and whales while fishing, and the lodge has many bald eagles flying around it. We were well taken care of from the time we arrived at the Sitka airport until we were checked in for our return flight. Each suite has a bathroom and a sitting room; the two cabins have two bedrooms. Very clean and well maintained. All have great views. The lodge is the only facility on the five or so acre Dove Island, which is owned by the owner of the lodge. A separate sauna is available, and a spa is under construction. A very well stocked bar in available in the great room as well in the area where the boat docks after a day of fishing. Both feature great views. The lodge owner owns and operates a vineyard in Napa, needless to say this is a great place for a wine connoisseur. Truly a world class lodge with world class, exceptional service. We will be back next year. read more

Being a restaurant owner I never like to rate a restaurant without having tried their food, however experience really is everything. I had a girls trip planned in July and called ahead to make reservations for dinner, very excited from all of the positive reviews I had read. After several days of phone tag I made reservations and received all details regarding pickup time and location in Sitka. Come our reservation date all 4 of us anxiously awaited the water taxi, only to be told there was no reservation under our name. Rather than checking any type of reservation book or trying to source the mishap of the date/time, we were simply told we were wrong and there wasn't room for us. We had to pretty much beg to come to the island for a drink - and still seemed as though we were an inconvenience. We were told this would work but it was stressed to us no food would be available. We came to the island and enjoyed a couple glasses of wine we paid for in full along with gorgeous scenery, but without every receiving any type of apology for the misunderstanding. Overall we are just very disappointed in missing out on the dining experience and the overall situation could have been handled very differently. read more
