What an awesome experience!  My husband and I enjoyed this tour with Captain Gary very much.  From start to finish, it was fun and exciting.   We came from the cruise ship port by a free 10 minute shuttle. We boarded the boat which was new, clean and beautifully designed, plus it had SUPER comfortable seats.  Before we even left the local bay, we saw multiple whales and seals. We went to several areas to see more amazing whales, salmon jumping out of the water, otters and a waterfall! We were able to sit inside or go on the front or back decks for photos or to hang out a bit and observe the natural beauty around us. As a fellow nature lover, It was fun that Captain Gary was excited to see the whales as well even after having grown up in Sitka and seeing them many times before.  He was a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and area, plus relaxed and easy going.  I appreciate the details about the whales names and that he recently found out how some were related. This was our favorite tour of our entire cruise, hands down.  We'll recommend Captain Gary's Sitka Adventures to everyone traveling to the area! read more

Fantastic Land & Sea Tour! The boat was new & fit 14 people comfortably & handled the waves very well. We saw several whales, sea otters, & sea lions. We then went to the land tour where we went to a park & saw several eagles & enjoyed the rainforest. We then went to the Bear Raptor Center & Eagle Raptor Center & grabbed a hotdog at the Bear place. We enjoyed both tours & saw a lot of Sitka & our driver (also named Gary) was very knowledgable about the history of Sitka & we learned a lot! Definitely recommend! read more

Do yourselves a favor and book captain Gary if you're going to Sitka Alaska. His tour was the highlight of our trip. We are a family of 5 with 3 young children and Gary and his crew went above and beyond to make it memorable . We did the land and sea tour, which i highly recommended. The amazing whale sightings and scenery is going to be a trip to remember. And to anyone that it wondering this is your is all done in a beautiful enclosed cabin boat that is beyond comfortable and that makes the other tours jealous. My family of nine, from 5 to 82 years old all had a fantastic adventure with Gary. He is so knowledgeable about the Sitka area and always knows where the whales are as he is out looking for them nearly everyday. We had a blast seeing many grey whales with all their spouts going everywhere around us and we got some great shots of then flipping their tails. They know the whales by their tails and we got to see Spot (named for the big white dot on his tail!). His new boat is fabulous and can seat up to 14 guests. Great inside watching as well as outside. Later in town, I mentioned we had gone whale watching with Gary and they all knew him, WOW!!. You can't go wrong whale watching with him. read more

We (sadly) ran into bad weather in Sitka- and the Captain (wisely) cancelled the water portion of our trip. He refunded our extra deposit immediately. I'm so glad we took the land tour. The land portion was very interesting. We were sad to miss the water tour but are so grateful that Captain Gary keeps his passengers safe. We heard from some other people on our cruise who did not have their trips cancelled and they got ill from the rough water- so we feel very lucky to have booked with Captain Gary. From the 1st time I reached out to Captain Gary to when we said goodbye the entire interaction and experience was 100% the best! He answered my many questions & was always kind and professional. Helpful & gave good advice as what to do when we didn't get off the cruise ship as quick as we thought we would have. When we met him and his mate they were friendly & welcoming. His boat.......very clean & inside seats were so comfortable. Seriously....like luxury seats. We could go the front, the back or stay in seats when we were looking at the whales & sea lions. We were able to look out the windows at all times. I believe they put something on the glass so the water repels. Had snacks and water for us. 14 people of all ages on boat. I feel we were on the water for just the right amount of time. Learned a lot about the area and the marine life. Very informative and knowledgeable of the area. Great experience with Capt. Gary and his wife. We did the land and water tours. By water we saw multiple whales (humpback and orcas), fish, birds, seals, and great scenery. You can tell that Gary knows his stuff and provides a great unique experience. We did not know what to expect on the city land tour but delightfully surprised by the experience. We saw bears, raptors (eagles), and Totems. This was a great way to see what Sitka has to offer. This was our best excursion and would recommend to anyone going there. read more

Captain Gary, Koali, and Nico were the perfect ambassadors for Sitka, Alaska. They were enthusiastic about all of the places they showed us and information they shared. We could not think of another way we would have wanted to spend our day while in port from our cruise. Some of our favorite pictures were taken during our time with them. The Fourth of July in Sitka alaska with an invasion of 4000 cruise clients is overwhelming. Koali managed to get us, a party of 11 people ,to the fortress of the bear, delighting us with anecdotes about Sitka, which she clearly loves and returned us to the ship in time. About a year ago I had the pleasure of going on a wildlife boat tour with Captain Gary. We had a couple days in Sitka before heading out on a wildlife geared cruise. Let me tell you, Captain Gary did NOT disappoint. Captain Gary was accommodating enough to squeeze us in last minute and I cannot thank him enough. While in his half day package tour, we were able to see two species of whale (I believe it was the grey whale and the minke whale), seal, eagles, and about any other marine wildlife you could imagine seeing around Sitka. Not only was the scenery and wildlife sightings absolutely stellar, the conversation and professionalism were on equal measure. Gary was great! He sent us information quickly and spent a good amount of time on the phone with us answering all our questions. He was honest and said if weather was bad, he'd give us a full refund. He met us at the marina, loaded our party of six onto his boat and took us for an awesome tour. We were lucky to see many whales right in the bay, then again coming an going from the small island preserve he took us to see. He pointed out sea life, birds and formations we don't get to see where we live. Whale watching with Captain Gary is unforgettable!! Gary is wonderful and very professional. He is a local Sitka resident- born and raised. We booked 2 tours for 4 people in each tour. Both were amazing! On the first tour our group saw hump back whales bubble net feeding and in the second group we saw a month et and her calf close up. He was easy to communicate with, prompt and the personal small tour is highly recommended. He was great with the little kids in our group and even the picky fisherman. So great!! read more

Captain Gary is amazing! I made the arrangements for my senior mom and her girlfriend for their Alaskan adventure. I contacted Gary and he responded immediately via email and then followed up with a phone call. I was a little worried and wanted to make sure my mom had a great time.
