He went everywhere with me. He passed away on a Sunday afternoon, and when I called Angel Oaks Pet Crematory, I was honestly surprised someone answered. I could barely speak through the tears, but from the very first moment, they were incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate. They immediately put me at ease during one of the most difficult moments of my life. When my wife and I brought him in, the level of respect, care, and understanding they showed was truly remarkable. You can tell they genuinely care. I was told the urn I selected might take 7-10 days, which I completely understood--but just two days later, they called to say everything was ready. The urn itself is absolutely beautiful. I can't say enough good things about Angel Oaks. If you've lost a beloved pet, I highly recommend them. They treated my dog--and us--with the dignity and compassion we needed. I'm truly grateful.

I cannot recommend this business based on my experience…read more I want to begin by acknowledging that the owner was professional and respectful throughout this situation. Unfortunately, my overall experience was negatively impacted by the handling of my case by the front desk staff. After my dog passed away, I was told I needed to complete a JotForm before the cremation process could begin. I informed the receptionist multiple times that I had never received the form and asked for it to be resent. During my first call, I was placed on hold for approximately 16 minutes and was assured it would be sent. By the following day, I still had not received it, so I called again. Rather than addressing the issue, the receptionist was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted me, and was unwilling to listen as I tried to explain that I had never received the form. After more than a week with no updates or communication regarding my dog's remains, I was informed that the cremation would no longer be performed and that I would need to retrieve my dog's body instead. As a grieving pet owner, I found this deeply distressing. After my dog's body had been in their care for over a week, I was faced with the possibility of having to identify and transport her remains myself. This is an experience no family should have to endure, particularly when the delay resulted from a communication breakdown outside of their control. Compassion, clear communication, and professionalism are especially important when families are coping with the loss of a beloved pet. While I appreciate the owner's professionalism, the lack of communication and the way this situation was handled by the front desk left me disappointed and added unnecessary emotional distress during an already difficult time.

I called them and they told me that they couldn't help since they only help with euthanasia and don't assist with cremation after a dog has died. Laps of Love recommended that I google search "pet cremation" in my area. So, I did that and found Four Paws Pet Cremation of Houston. To my surprise, they were in my neck of the woods just 30 minutes away. I immediately called them and was told that they were open 24 hours and to bring my dog in to be cremated (as he passed away in the yard that same day). I was told to fill out a form via a link to be sent to my phone, but I don't have a smartphone so therefore I couldn't do that. I asked if I could fill out a form in person and was told that I could. So, we placed my dog in a padded box to make sure his body was comfortable to transport to Four Paws. When we arrived, their front door was locked, with their vehicles out front. I didn't understand why the door was locked on a 24-hour establishment, so I knocked on the door. I was greeted by an elderly man with glasses. He greeted me with a smile and told me to retrieve Pocky from the vehicle. The waiting area was very small with two chairs to sit on. My whole family came to see Pocky off as he has been in our family for 15 years. Pocky lived to be 15 years old. I had him since he was a puppy. The elderly man gave me a paper form to fill out. I filled it out and requested a paw print with a special urn, but decided against the special urn as the complimentary box was a nice option. The elderly man kept asking if I wanted private. He asked me three times back to back at which I told him yes each time. My sister and I even discussed with him that we wanted a paw print and he agreed to make us one. He said that it was popular. However, when I went to retrieve Pocky's remains. I walked into the establishment and the elderly man was there again. He remembered my dog's name and we joked about his age as he wanted me to guess. He asked me again, "Did you want private remains?" Even after the fact. I told him, "Yes, that's what I requested before." He showed me everything that came with the cremation, a poem, a seed to plant of remembrance, the certificate, and the wooden box with the remains. However, I did not see the paw print that I requested originally. I asked him, "Where's the paw print?" The elderly man said, "You didn't order one". I told him, "Yes, I did. I checked the box on the paper form." My sibling came into the establishment and agreed that we requested one. So, the elderly man walked to the back of the establishment puzzled. I guess he was trying to search for one. Then, he came back to the front and was looking through his sketch pad. He said, "Oh, I didn't write down that you requested one". I said, "Well, you can see on the paper form that I did." So, he found the paper form. He is analyzing the form and looking directly at the form, he says again, "You did not check the box." I said, yes I did. So, low and behold, he sees that I marked an "x" to a paw print. He admits that I did request a paw print and he appeared to be disappointed. That's when the owner, Brandon walks in. The elderly man tells him his mistake. Brandon appeared to be more apologetic than the elderly man! Brandon tried to make things right by offering a refund or even a necklace. I was already disappointed since I trusted them through this process. Brandon refunded me $30 in cash and apologized to the elderly man. He said that he wouldn't just give me any ol' paw print which I appreciate, but at the same time, it sucks that Four Paws did not honor what I requested. This is my dog who is a family member. To anyone considering Four Paws to avoid what I went through, please bring with you a yellow highlighter when filling out the paper forms if the elderly man is at the reception. Mark and even circle what you are requesting. This business would be 1000X better if they didn't have the elderly guy working the reception. This would have been a 5-star review if they had done the right thing and been thorough with checking the forms. Why have me fill out a form if you aren't going to abide by it? That's the mystery. I don't even know if the remains I received were Pocky's only since the elderly man constantly questioned if I had chosen private or communal. Absolute disappointment and a letdown. I won't be recommending this business to anyone and will not return in the future.

I would NEVER recommend to anyone I know. Back on August 17th, my husband and I brought our 2 month old PUPPY, Hazel, we just came home with on the 15th to Greatwood Veterinary Hospital for literally just vaccine boosters. While we were there I mentioned her urine was a little strong smelling but that we recently lost our 14.5 year old dog in April to kidney disease so I don't know what normal puppy urine smells like but just wanted them to confirm her urine was okay. We only had her for 2 days- I had no idea what was normal or not lol. Long story short- they ran a urinalysis and saw she had a UTI and put her on meds. The vet also mentioned she had a little glucose in her urine but wasn't concerned at all about it bc it was so mild and likely caused by excitement or infection. I was concerned though since we just lost a dog to kidney failure and I needed reassurance so we took her in 2 days later for a full blood work up, met with a DIFFERENT dr at this visit who said she was perfectly healthy and her bloodwork was fantastic and her glucose in her urine was nothing to worry about bc it was likely from excitement. Fast forward to Monday the 24th where we had our follow up appt to check if her urinalysis was clear of the UTI. My husband brought her in and I was on speaker... to see a DIFFERENT dr again. I was told this was Dr. Lindsey. I was not told her first name. So now 3 visits with 3 doctors. Whatever, anyways.. she ran her urinalysis and immediately came in saying her glucose had increased and she recommends a full bloodwork panel.... which we just got 5 days prior. She told my husband "no I have notes you guys denied bloodwork" and essentially accused us of taking her elsewhere to get her bloodwork done. We obviously didn't. She finally went to CHECK HER RECORDS and came back and said ok yeah her bloodwork looks good and my bad her glucose in her urine hasn't increased it was a "computer glitch" that stated we got another UA done a day we weren't even there - but then starts telling us how she thinks our perfectly happy and healthy puppy has congenital kidney dysfunction. When asked what we do from here we were quite literally told to REMOVE A KIDNEY (for what, idk?) and have her live the rest of her life with one kidney doing all the work. When asked what this meant she told me the very few dogs she's seen with this lived a very short life and died from early kidney failure. Anyone who's ever seen a dog pass from kidney disease/failure knows how traumatizing it is. I was absolutely devastated hearing this. She also told us they couldn't send her urine sample to the lab to be confirmed because it wasn't sterile because she peed on the floor, which is where the sample was gathered from. Absolutely CRAZY to me. I immediately got on the phone with our old vet (who we only didn't go back to bc she moved and Greatwood is so close to us) - we got in same day to see her and even she said how the vet handled this was insane because our puppy is perfectly healthy and you absolutely cannot diagnose kidney dysfunction off the information she had - especially based off levels on a urine sample gathered FROM THE FLOOR. Even a simple SDMA test (which was never offered to us at greatwood) showed a perfect value. Ultimately, we've wasted hundreds of dollars at this vet just to get her urine sample yesterday COLLECTED IN A STERILE MANNER via cytocentesis, sent to an actual LAB, and confirmed there is absolutely no glucose, non hyaline casts, crystals, or anything else except mild RBC and WBC in her urine (all of which was reported on the in house urinalysis done at greatwood). How much money we've wasted at greatwood vet aside, the fact this vet (Dr. Lindsey specifically) throws around such devastating and severe diagnostics without any evidence or even a sterile test is insane. We will never be going back here again, which is so sad because we loved all of the staff and the first 2 doctors our sweet Hazel girl saw... it's so unfortunate one unprofessional vet who lacks any compassion whatsoever could ruin what could have been a longstanding relationship.
