    Seafood paella $13
    Christine Q.

After seeing videos of the stalls at this market on tick tock, I decide to come here and check it out for myself with my best friend. I came here on a very cold Saturday and was super excited to explore the market and see what it had to offer. One thing that really struck me was how busy it was and how dusty everything felt. There were a lot of stalls selling antiques, electronics, as well as imitation luxury goods, and cosmetics. But we came here for the food court and that will be the focus of my review. The food court is at the very back of the market. It was rather strange that they were still taking cash only, considering how we were in the middle of a pandemic. It was also kind of annoying how far the food court was from the washroom as well as the atm. The food court eating area was very crowded, and The mask compliance was questionable. In addition, hand sanitizer was not readily available. In terms of variety of food that they have here, that was very exciting. There was Chinese food, Mexican food, Spanish food, Jamaican food, Trinidadian food, and European food. We got the tacos, seafood paella, and on the way out, we got some Trinidadian doubles to go. The tacos were $16 for four, the seafood paella was $13 for a small portion, and the doubles were $3 each. In terms of value, I was expecting lower prices. Word to the wise, get lots of napkins for the tacos - they are super juicy! The seafood paella was cold by the time I got to eat them. As for the doubles, they actually make the fluffy bread fresh on the spot, and they let you put your own sauces on it. All in all, this was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the variety of food, but I felt rather skeptical of the sanitation of this area.

    Great variety of food vendors!

Funny, as a kid I always wondered why they called flea markets "flea markets". Did the flea markets sell fleas or something? Now that I have kids of my own, my kids ask the same thing, "Daddy, why do they call this place a flea market?". Its funny how the circle of life works! Downsview Merchant Market is basically a flea market in Downsview Park. We were nearby for my son's basketball tournament so decided to check it out. The flea market consists of a wide range of vendors from antiques, furniture, perfume to electronics, jewellery etc. Nothing high end that I would buy to be honest The real appeal of this place is the international food court and farmer's market. The food court has a great mix of Mexican, Latin American, Caribbean and Asian fare. Most of the items seem to be in the $5-$10 range and family owned. I personally went for the Latin fare as we never get that in my neck of the woods. Scored some great empanadas and pupusas while we were there. The farmer's market is more of fruit and veggie market as they are not locally grown but are of outstanding quality and value. I picked up 3 large bunches of really nice asparagus for only $5. If you are not a flea market person like me then just bypass the vendors and check out the food and farmer's market as they were the main draw for me. As a note the place is only open on weekends and parking can be pretty crowded with the roads not well maintained. Now why the heck do they call it a "flea market" anyways???????

Downsview Park Merchants Market brings me back to my years when I watched over my parents tiny stall at Pickering FLEA Market. I had the most fun there running around, looking at various and spending $$ on Sports Cards and Sausages & Sauerkraut on a bun. Driving into this large-scale hangar size market there was AMPLE parking space and the was plenty of greenery for children to run around chasing themselves if they get bored indoors. I walked in through the entrance which was small and ghetto so I suggest that you follow your NOSE towards the large open end entrance instead where the Fruit & Vegetable Market was as well as a few food vendors. Here you can buy Fruit & Vegetable in bulk and even Eggs and Oil. I didn't notice a significant savings in prize but others seem to like browzing and picking stuff up. As suspected, you have anything you can imagine from a Flea Market such as Jeweller, Electronics, Bags & Luggage, Video Games, Antiques, Paintings, Pots & Pans, Knifes, DVDs, etc... Until you walk towards the other end where an INTERNATIONAL Food area with roughly 12 vendors are ready for your order. Very international with Thai, Lebanese, Trinidad, Afghan, El Salvador, Jamaican, Italian, Chinese, etc... It's definitely a good place to PRACTICE your haggling skills and I think I did alright as I can see the disappointed look at the lady that paid me back money she didn't want to give away.

Dr. Flea's Market Review…read more Dr. Flea's Market is a vibrant hub with a wide variety of stalls offering everything from clothing, hardware, and supplements to IPTV and international beauty products. I truly enjoyed exploring the cultural mix--especially the food! I treated myself to an incredible spread: refreshing jackfruit, soursop, and sugarcane juices; flavourful Trini dishes like baked chicken and rice, pholourie, fish balls, dahlpuri, oxtail and rice; and ended with fresh young coconut water straight from the shell--complete with jelly--and a sweet Guyanese pine tart. Yum! I'll definitely be back. I even saw someone buying 20 young coconuts pre-cut and ready to go for a home party--what a great idea!

Truth be told, I'm not a huge flea market connnaiseur, but this one is pretty cool. It has a nice variety of items, from fashion, to accessories, jewellery, fragmences, food, toys, tools, small home appliences, electronics, phone stuff, car stuff, psychics and more. It's a great place to practice your haggling skills. I think the best part was that Dr Flea himself, the myth the man the legend, was there giving away prizes to customers. He periodically speaks over the speakers announcing what's happening and holds little games like: "the first two people to find me and show a hair pin will win a prize". Now people, this is a flea market. It's cheap stuff for cheap. Don't come here expecting a high end shipping experience. It's crowded, messy, and confusingly organized. But chances are there's more than a few things in there you need and it won't cost you too much to take home.

I have a soft spot for flea markets. I grew up going to the Pickering and Stouffville (rest in…read morepeace) flea markets on Saturdays and Sundays with my parents. I loved them. We were also there for the food, from fresh produce and kolbassa, to hamburgers and patties. I recently visited Leguan. To my delight, I realized doing a bit of research before heading over that it was located in the food court at Mississauga Flea Market. I felt like I had hit the flea market jackpot. This flea market faces Mavis Road. I was heading southbound along the street and had no problem pulling into the parking lot. I was lucky to have found a parking spot that you immediately encounter when you turn into the lot. I backed into the spot. Again, it was a jackpot sort of day. I walked in through the main entrance. You can also enter on the right side of the building, but I wanted to give the main doors a try. You have two sets of doors to go through. There's Pet Pets, a pet store that's open every day of the week. I like that if you need to get food or supplies for your family pet, it's open every day. There is a U-Haul stall when you get through the second set of doors. It was my first time seeing a moving rental stall at a flea market. It was oddly closed when I was there on a Saturday afternoon. The food court is on the left when you enter the main doors. You basically hug the left side as you walk. There are tables and seats to take a load off and eat. Leguan is there, along with other food stalls to choose from. I briefly walked around after I had dropped by Leguan. I saw a stall that sold hookahs. Cool! You can find everything from a haircutting place to a florist and plant stall. I enjoyed the variety of merchandise you could find. There are washrooms and an ATM between the food court and the U-Haul stand. I ended up making a purchase at an electronics and cell phone accessories stall, which was a couple of stalls to the right of U-Haul. I have no idea what the business was called. I did have a nice man try and find a USB-C adapter with a USB-C and audio port. He had one for lightning, but not for my needs. Oh, well. I did manage to get a cell phone case for my Google Pixel 6a. Normally, most businesses don't have any and you have to find them online. This place had many to choose from. I got a rose gold one, complete with a magnet and kickstand. I had my Leguan food on the counter as he was helping me out. He got hungry. I apologized for making him hungry, as the food smelled so good. This particular stall accepted cash and e-transfer only. I did the latter, which was seamless. Many do cash only, such as Leguan. It makes sense why there's an ATM nearby. I'd recommend bringing cash just in case the stall that you're at doesn't accept e-transfer or other payment methods. I had a nice time here. I will return to spend more time and money shopping. Thank goodness this flea market is only open on weekends. It's roughly a fifteen-minute drive from my workplace, which could have been evil if it were open on weekdays and I was regularly in the office. (16)

A lot of the things I over heard was, "omg I used to have that!" Or "My mom has something like that", while they kept walking.
