I always love the park, but it's especially magical at Christmas time! They do such a fantastic job decorating it, it truly transports you to a Christmas wonderland. I've come for New Years Eve twice, and the bonfire event they put together is so much fun. Even in the rain this past year, it was a great time. I've been here at many different times in the year and the park is always filled with people enjoying the benches, gazebo, and playground. We now have to stop by this park after wine tasting for a little guy. He loves playing here, they have a little kids area along with a bigger kids play area. They also have swings, and it's not sand or bark. Bathrooms are near by. There's one bathroom with a changing station and there's always someone taking a dump in there. Not sure why they always pick the one with the changing table, plenty of other ones! For most part, no homeless people or weird people near the playground. Big field for kids to run too. There are also weekly farmers and flea markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We got our morning coffee and had a peaceful walk through the area. On a recent road trip, we decided to give our kids a chance to stretch their legs and decided to try out this park. We're so glad we did because it was fantastic. Right off the bat, I will say that this park has one of the nicest/cleanest public restrooms I have ever experienced. The men have an open doored urinal area and then there are fully private unisex stalls on the other side. There is an open air sink area between the two. It was really nice. The playgrounds here are also really well maintained and offers options for kids of all ages. We have a 2, 5, and 7 year old and they all had things they could enjoy climbing on and playing with. I just wish they had slightly more cover as there were some metal play items that got quite hot in the summer sun. The rest of the park is just a massive grass area with plenty of trees for shade. We used one for a delightful picnic between play sessions. Parking I could see being a bit of an issue if you want to park right up next to the area. There is minimal street parking completely surrounding the park but you could find street parking on one of the many side streets and walk over if those are all taken. read more

Day or night this park is lovely! We came here multiple times on our visit to the area. During the day you will find lots of green grass, shade and benches. There are children playing on the playground and people walking their dogs. Across the street are lots of places to grab a snack and enjoy a picnic as well. In the evening, the trees are lit up with glowing lights and the park is still full of life and people. I wish there was a park like this closer to me and I encourage anyone reading this to stop and take advantage of everything this beautiful space has to offer! read more

Came to town for the night for pre-planned dinner at Cool Hand Lukes and needed to go for a short walk afterwards. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a movie set?! What a gorgeous park, brilliantly designed in the center of some beautiful shops,restaurants and hotels with a LIBRARY and PLAYGROUND in the center and plenty of green space to hang (or crawl!) My favorite part was the hanging lights from the trees- something so magical about glowy lights dangling from above. As a Templeton native born and raised, I have fond memories of Paso's downtown park. It's a place I grew up visiting--a charming, idyllic spot that looks like it belongs in a scene from Gilmore Girls. With its picturesque gazebo, twinkling lights in the trees during the holiday season, and a lovely play area for kids, it's a park that, on the surface, seems beautiful and inviting. However, as someone who remembers what it was like 25 years ago, it's heartbreaking to see how much the park has gone downhill. The sidewalks are filthy, and the park has become overrun by transients, many of whom are visibly struggling with addiction. It's not uncommon to see drug addicts nodding off on the benches. Groups of unsavory individuals also loiter near the playground and gazebo, creating an unwelcoming and sometimes intimidating atmosphere for families. One particularly alarming experience was finding a used hypodermic needle in a planter box right across the street at the Paso library while my son was playing nearby. When I called the police, they said there was nothing they could do. Public drug use--even in a park where children play--is essentially permitted. The worst offenders might get a slap on the wrist, be minorly inconvenienced for a few hours, and then go right back to it. There are no real ramifications for this kind of behavior, which is deeply concerning for families who want to enjoy the park safely. You read glowing five-star reviews of the park from out-of-towners, and sure, compared to what they're used to in big cities, I can see how it might look idyllic and quaint. But as a small-town local, I find the current state of the park absolutely atrocious. Thankfully, the Templeton Park still maintains its nostalgic charm. It's clean, safe, and a peaceful spot where I now take my son. While it doesn't have the lovely restaurants and amenities surrounding it like Paso does, it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. What once felt like a safe and family-friendly park in Paso now feels grimy, unsafe, and neglected. It's devastating to see such a beloved part of Paso Robles' charm fall into this state. I sincerely hope the city can address these issues to restore the park to the welcoming, clean, and idyllic place it once was. read more

This historic park is the center of all thing Downtown Paso Robles. You will walk by or through as it is a huge hub for all the local businesses in the area. Oddly the restrooms are one of my favorite DPR City park features... for public restrooms they're super well kept and a must in a pinch. They have individual facilities (6-8 secure gender neutral "water closets'") as well as men's and women's larger public restrooms. The sinks run great and there's even hand dryers. Downtown City Park of Downtown Paso Roble has safe and clean equipment for kids and families to enjoy via playground as well as clear and clean paths to walk about. The have thick lavish trees for shade as well as ride open spaces with beaches and pure sunshine. There's a classic library building that stands as a learning center for kids as well as gazebos and tiny wood houses on the outer area of the park. The Downtown City Park encompasses Pine and Spring St and covers the block from 11th to 12th. It's more than well kept and the community here definitely does their best to keep it that way as well as inviting for all. read more

I was in the downtown area for a few hours and I spent a great deal of that time at the park with my dog. * Later in the day I did see the sign that dogs aren't allowed.* The park is between Spring, 11th, Pine, and 12th streets. There is parking available on all four sides. The park has tables and benches galore and the trees are huge! I saw numerous families playing at the playground. I appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and sink area. Probably the cleanest public bathrooms I've ever used! The park does host plenty of events throughout the year so keep an eye out for those. read more

The dude and I took a walk around Paso Roble Downtown City Park on 01/11/21 after we had an amazing lunch at the Fish Gaucho, we so needed to walk off the calories we just put on! I have been to Paso Robles several times as an adult and child but this was the first time for the love so I told him stories of how special this city and town was to me as my best friend passed away shortly after graduating high school in 2011 and as kids on a field trip he bought me my first Rubric cube and we shared lovely memories at this park. I couldn't remember the shop we went to but it would be craZy if it was still open (I think I was 11 at the time) So it was lovely to share memories with my love and I think my love fell in love with this little town and knows how special it is to me! It was such a lovely walk! We were our masks but a lot of people who were walking didn't no judgement to them as when I take my Clovis walks I don't wear a mask. But we felt since we were coming out of town it was necessary. They have a children's play area and ample benches you can come eat your breakfast, lunch or dinner and you can take your alcoholic beverages here and have a drink or two which was pretty cool! There is a historic building located in on the park which is the library but looks closed. The park was very clean and beautiful. I highly recommend getting to go food with cocktails to go or a bottle of wine from Hayseed and enjoy the lovely weather. Very romantic dinner or lunch date for sure and even do some shopping after too to support local businesses! read more

This is - dare I say it - the nicest city park I've ever been to. There are large parks, there are beautiful parks, but when you think of that classic Central Park where everyone wants to congregate in the evenings, this is the one to beat. We wandered through while exploring the town. We were blown away by just how clean and large it was. The whole place, even during COVID, was filled with children running and laughing, older folks sitting on benches and young couples wandering and holding hands. It was the classic park scene you hope for. Overall, I was just blown away by how nice and well-maintained it was. No spotty grass, no litter, no overflowing trash cans. It says a lot about how the locals respect this place to see it in such prime condition. read more

We went to a wedding in Paso Robles a few weeks ago, and happened to stroll through City Park on the afternoon of Saturday October 20, when Art in the Park was happening. We didn't have a ton of time, but we walked through and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, with all the vendors out on the grass, selling their artwork. The park was quite nice, green and pretty. It was in the middle of Paso Robles' lovely downtown, and it struck me as a great public space--central and happening, a good place to roam and gather. We wanted to get a sense of Paso Robles while we were in town, and I'm glad we took the time to walk around this park. I assume people who live here don't need a Yelp review to direct them to City Park, but if you're passing through, I'd definitely recommend a visit. read more

This is a great little park in the heart of Paso Robles right in the middle of all the great eateries, bars, and specialty stores that city of Paso Robles has to offer. I went for stroll through this park after having dinner nearby and quickly found myself relaxing at one of their park benches underneath some beautiful mature oak trees and scattering of pines. The park is surprisingly 4.3 acres, which would not of been my first guess. It's certainly larger than I thought and has a lot to offer. The park has a Gazebo with electrical hook ups that can be rented and reserved for parties and special events. It offer a small play ground for the little ones, competitive horse shoe pits, plenty of picnic tables, and restrooms. There's now a large group BBQ area with concrete pits with grills for large events. You can have alcohol with a permit. All the above is cool, but what struck me about this park was the healthy and well maintained green belt and its beautiful mature trees, some that I would estimate are nearing a century year old. We had our dog with us and we found this park quite by accident while walking around beautiful Paso. She was quite intrigued by all the smells and with all the other pups that would walk by! Nice owners too! The park was lively with kids playing in the playground area. Some people were having a gender reveal party with friends, some were just taking in the warm Spring weather reading a book under a tree. At the far end of the park, a band was setting up for some musical fun. We noted no dog poop bag stations around. Thankfully, I had some in my purse. The restrooms may be some of the nicest I have ever seen, not that I ever thought I would be rating them. Nice wooden details, WITH toilet paper and I swear, each stall was air conditioned, somehow. Unisex hand washing/drying area (DYSON!). The park was so clean and well maintained. I feel that a lot of pride is taken to keep this central spot, beautiful. Surrounded on all 4 sides with pubs, seafood restaurants, bakeries, candy shops, wine tasting places, pizza parlors... A great stop! read more

A beautiful place to come walk the dog, sit for a while or play in the middle of the old part of town. There is a large grassy area dotted with old beautiful trees to provide shade. There are many picnic tables and benches through out the park. There is a modern playground for children that has rubber matting under all. this park is awesome! love that it's in the center of everything and walkable to shops and restaurants. There's plenty of grass to sit and relax and you can take in all of the awesome architecture. It does have kind of a "throwback" "old-time" vibe. I happened to be there during the Olive Festival so there were lots of fun things going on and a lot more to see than normal I would bet. I was able to spend the better part of an afternoon here as I waited to check into my VRBO and I'm glad I did. I can definitely see myself stopping by again the next time I'm in Paso. read more

The main city park in Paso Robles has an old time feel to match the surrounding downtown area. In it you will find plenty of benches to sit and enjoy either the sunshine or the evening air. A wooden gazebo is situated there as well with some other seating. During May the Wine Festival is held here and I would encourage any who have not come to Paso Robles before to experience the festival once. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and it not be too hot. We usually come down here in the evening when we stay in Paso just to take a leisurely stroll around and enjoy the quietness. read more

There is plenty of shade, and it was wonderful to see so many folks out enjoying our beautiful town. Here for a little weekend away and saw outdoor dining at the park as an option. Grabbed food from the local Thai place, bottle of wine from the morning's visit to Vina Robles and went over for dinner. Great experience - very clean and well maintained. For every guest that leaves, the tables and chairs are wiped down by staff. All well distanced and staff keep walking around to clear trash or answer your questions. I'd suggest going later in the evening so you can also enjoy some time after the fairy lights are turned on. Folks are out celebrating life and you will love being a part of it.
