Since this road trip was all about Cako, I found Sherwood along the way to make a stop. The Google map doesn't really give good directions, and we ended up on the other side, but we found the opening. The space is quite large and fenced in. One side for big dogs, another side for small ones. The ground is mulched up trees and other foilage. Cako would've loved grass, but I understand how it can be expensive to maintain. The people who were there with their dogs were not the friendliest. I just stopped by for her to relieve herself and run around. Definitely worth coming to if you live in the area or traveling through. It's not that far from the freeway. Cako Approves!

This park is maintained by volunteers, not the city. It has a section for big dogs and another for small dogs. Owners have a place to sit on the shade with benches, and it is quite nice. Sturdy and tall fences separate each area, gates are well maintained. The only issue I have and the reason for the loss of a star? There is no grass so the dogs are cleaning themselves on small pieces of wood, with also makes it hard to pick up after them. I would gladly contribute to a fundraiser to upgrade that spect of the park, and I don't even live in this town. That is how otherwise cool this park is. Easy access from the highway 101 if you are traveling, and exit is close to shopping area with lots of drive thrus in case you get hungry after the dog park. I will definitely swing by it whenever I travel with the dog to give him some exercise.

Great place to stop.we were on a road trip to Santa Barbara from the bay area.my dogs needed a place to stretch their legs.plenty of water available and poop bags.also plenty of shade.i imagine it must get hot in Paso Robles. definitely a great stop on the way down 101

So...the first time we were there, I was disappointed there was no grass in the dog park. We were there a couple days ago and I have to say, it really is a nice dog play area. Yes, it has bark, but it is clean and nicely kept up. Someone on Yelp mentioned that the park is maintained all by volunteers. That is awesome! What a great thing to do for your community! Hid a couple rocks when we were passing through town and I sure hope they're found by those local volunteers!

I'm not a fan of the wood chips for dog parks, my dogs don't seem to like it either. Maybe it pokes their feet. Better than no park at all. Some random toys including chuck it sticks and tennis rackets to fling balls around. Tubs to fill with water on hot days. Ample space. Picnic tables and benches with shade for owners who want to be boring. Really just wish the wood chips were replaced with grass.

I have fallen in love with this dog park for a few reasons; 1) the park is beautiful and offers so many activities for dogs. 2) the people are amazing. Dog lovers in general are pretty warm and welcoming but the crowd that frequents this park are extra nice. 3) the dogs are well trained!!! A huge plus because I hate doing to a park where the dogs are mean. This is by far the best park I have ever seen !

There's a separate section at Sherwood Dog Park for small dogs and big dogs, but sometimes they like to play together.

Cute and friendly dog park that was well maintained. Had small and large dog areas with plenty of room to run.

A cute park to relax in. The castle theme is great for kids with a large play area. We brought a picnic lunch and let the dogs enjoy.

Volunteers work hard to make this a beautiful park. Good stop after a long day driving. There was no one in at 3 pm on a Saturday.

Apart of the Central Coast Dog Park Alliance, this is one of nine semi-private dog parks that request a daily $1 fee or $30 annual fee. You can pay online or in person and of course, it's on the honor system. So don't be a jerk. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon the park was lively. A few labs and golden-mixes in the big dog section and three or four smaller pups in the small dog section. We appreciate the double gated entrance to prevent any escapes and all the signage reminding folks on the rules. While we keep potty bags on hand, we noticed the several maintained stations that offered these freely. It's clear this park is well taken care of by it's patrons and volunteers. Everyone there was pleasant, kind, and very in tune with their dogs. We appreciated the level of care and consideration everyone had with their dogs and their interactions. It made a slightly nervous mom a lot more relaxed. There was plenty of shade, trees to sniff, and toys and water bowls. Basically everything you could possibly need! While we were only there for about 10 minutes we will certainly be returning. It's also very nearby to the 46-West if you're on a wine adventure with your pup and need to give them a good break.

Yes I camp other places I love the area and it gets very hot wish we had more tree coverage so with that said bring a pop up or two. I made the mistake of brushing my teeth with the water spicket one year so don't do that unless you want to get sick my stupidity. If you like fishing make sure you have a fishing license we went down to the lime one year with a kids like two year old fishing pole and a child hook and some lame person said we had a fish net and called the rangers on us and they all came looking for a net looked in my backpack in my truck in our ice chest in the back of my truck acting like we had done something wrong it was a huge embarrassing moment for them because they came In hot like I was a criminal with my wife and to young kids and the only thing was a trash bag that I collected trash people left around apparently they had a video of this so called net and the ranger told me after looking a this video that they must have mistaken a net for a trash bag. It's was super lame like I understand they have a job todo but the way it was handled in the beginning was not professional with kids around. Other then that I've always have had a great time in the heat we even went when the lake was dried up on the Harris creek side and camping one year and it rained we still had a great time. Yes it's not super party like as year in the past and that's ok you want that behavior drive up the road to the next lake. I wish they still had the little store but that closed up sadly. They need more people camping to get that open again.
