Every Saturday, rain or shine the Riverside farmers market takes over the downtown area on Main Street between fifth & sixth ave. Bright and early ready to share their fresh baked breads, fresh fruits and vegetable, whole chicken, eggs (with the fresh orange yolks) flowers, honey, tamales, hummus dips and cheeses. As the years have gone by additional vendors have joined this town staple. Great to see it expanding down to the convention center. Parking is limited to surrounding sidewalks. Theres a parking structure off market next to the food lab if you find yourself circling one too many times. All the vendors are wonderful people I love supporting all of their hard work throughout the year to supply the freshest ingredients and products. Had a pleasant stay in Downtown Riverside and it was topped off with a cute little farmers market right out side of our hotel! We walked about and grab lots of fresh baked breads, some honeycomb to snack on for an energy boost, coffee to go and some nuts for the ride. There is a plant vendor with a good selection of reasonably priced succulents. There are a few food vendors; desserts and breads. Clean, natural, no hormones, no MSG, no GMO, certified organic farmer's market...what else can I say!? Great place to get yourself some good products when in the area. I came here on Wednesday, there are about 15 or so vendors, kettle corn, nuts, fruit, breads, desserts, veggies, tamales, pupusas, and more! At noon, all the workers are here getting their lunch, lines can be a little long at the food vendors. Everyone is nice, come out and enjoy yourself! I normally come here for lunch when I'm in the area, I get the veggie burrito from Deliziosa's Pupusas, really great burrito, and their platanos fritos and beans are excellent too. Generally speaking, the sellers here have been coming for quite some time. I enjoy comparison shopping before committing. At times I think haggling might be wise as at least one produce vendor is noticeably more than the others. I have bought herbs, honey, spices, flowers, meat and eggs, bread and pita, hummus, and of course fruit and vegetables. I recommend going early in warm months, your produce will look better and survive the drive home. Carry at least $40 cash as only a few sellers accept credit cards. read more

Adorable little spot! Customer service was great and talked us through getting there since they moved locations about a street down. I got there a little late so some of the vendors may have already packed up for the day, but I was still able to get some emerald plums, some greens, blueberry lemonade, a couple wonderful indulgent pastries, and a pretty flower bouquet. My husband and I were looking forward to revisiting this farmers market after not going for a couple years due to Covid and such. We enjoyed the ambiance and beautiful sunshine, however, there were not too many vendors, as we had hoped. The prices of fresh fruit and vegetables were very high. I bought some sprouts that were tasty. Only enough for a couple of sandwiches. The cost was $6 for a andful of sprouts! Maybe 1 cup! Ridiculous. All the prices at each vendor were ridiculous. Then we bought some other things at another vendor, (onions and fennil) and had sticker shock again. Went to a fresh herb place and couldn't find anything I wanted. I needed pepper and garlic but they didn't have pepper. The prices again were very high. We finally just shook our heads and left. We were disappointed and hope there may be a resurgence of more vendors, more variety, and also much better prices and more buys. I do not have any desire to go again, except for the nice outdoor music and blue sky days. P.S. the fresh flowers and tamales looked great and deserve a shout out. read more

First time to this farmer's market this morning, and I loved it! I wish it was bigger, but still a great time with a wide selection of goods. Highly recommend buying a tamale from the Tamale Guy! It's $5 for 2, $14 for a half dozen. After I ate them (Carnitas and chicken), I wish I had bought more! I also picked up some guacamole, Riverside wild flower honey, and Cranberry Orange sweet bread from a variety of other vendors. I will definitely be returning soon. Also, everyone was wearing masks and socially distanced, so I felt completely safe there. read more

This farmers market has the best vendors the best fruits and vegetables and breads and this fantastic Kefir yogurt I can only find here one per week! I checked on Yelp and it says it was open for Another 15 minutes! I ran to the booth, waited a good five minutes, (girl was prob in the restroom, and all her yogurt was still out on display) I bet you the vendor would have liked the $80 I usually spend on the kefir yogurt and YES IT IS THAT GOOD! Super bummed that Market manager (Nazi Jerkoff) manager said that because it was after 1 PM nobody could sell me anything anymore and the vendors were out there with all their goods and everything! The manager needs to stop being such a prick and allow the customers to be served especially since he sees I ran all the way over there and the vendor hasn't even started putting away their items ! Very small and lacking in character. It seemed a bit sterile for a Farmer's Market. It was very modern and modular in setup, which is something that I am not looking for in a Farmer's Market. Just two rows of facing identical booths. The produce that was there was great. There was no cheese when I went, which was unfortunate as I was looking forward to that after reading the other review. There were very few people in attendance while I was there. They have two sections: Certified Organic and Non-certified Organic. The bulk of the booths are Certified Organic. I bought some turnips, asparagus, quail eggs, carrots, and some red lettuce. Be sure to shop around between the vendors as the prices do vary between them. I will surely be back to the Riverside Farmer's Market for the fresh produce, but the Redland's Market Night has a much more lively feel and a little bit of the character that I partly go to a farmers market to enjoy. read more

I love this market! While it's not the biggest or most diverse farmer's market I've ever been to, I love that Riverside has this market on Saturdays. I used to live in Seattle, which is like the Mecca of farmer's markets so being in Riverside now, I'll take what I can get! Don't let the size fool you however, there are great people here selling delicious stuff! You MUST check out Mom's Specialty Foods for the hummus. Seriously, the best I've ever had. Lately the strawberries have also been quite good. The only downside to some of the produce is if you're there late in the day and it's been sitting in the sun for a while it starts to look a little sad. Go early to get the good stuff! read more

I have been going to the Riverside Farmer's Market for years, and they never disappoint. They have a good variety of fruits and vegetables, and have artisan bread, mediterranean (baklava, hummus, pita bread, tzatziki, tabbouleh), olive oil, cheese, beef, chicken, egg, flower, soap, and plant vendors. They have everything! I took off one star just because I've been to other markets, and wish that Riverside had more vendors with more exotic fruits and vegetables. I love this market because it's all about the food, and not about craft vendors. Overall I love them, and do get cranky if I can't make it for a week. read more

Pros: Great location to get fresh fruits and vegetables. Unlike any other farmers market, you can really enjoy the scenery from the classic downtown and Mission Inn Hotel while buying your produce. Cons: Wish it was a bigger farmers market. Suggestion: If the city of Riverside is trying to make a modern, innovative downtown...why not have a fabulous night farmers market. -Examples: Palms Springs has a fabulous night farmers market on Thursdays. My husband and I have been going for years. At first it was small but over time it has grown tremendously. With live music, local art, small businesses and farmers with fresh produce plus restaurants all around...my husband and I find ourselves driving down very frequently. I am a total farmers market fanatic. I think it's so much fun to sample and buy hot, fresh meals to eat while perusing more great eats (hummus, fruit, breads, oysters, anyone?). This did not impress me so much because it was fairly small and they didn't have ready to eat meals for sale. They weren't too generous with the sampling either. You gotta give some to get some in the food world! (read: Costco) They could up the ante with a tamale stand, pulled pork sandwich booth, and sliced stone fruit. This is one of my favorite farmer's markets it has a fairy large variety of vendors to choose from. Great produce, local honey, bee pollen, eggs and fresh cut flowers. A few of our favorite must buys are tamales for breakfast from the Tamale Guy, breads from Old Town Baking and tabouleh, serrano feta hummus and mutabbal from Mom's Specialty Foods. I left with a pretty good haul of honey and bee pollen, yummy fresh breads and tasty dips for this weeks meals. read more

If it's a Saturday morning and you have nothing to do, make your way down to this farmer's market. I go nearly every weekend, particularly in spring and summer, and buy a great deal of items from this place. My favorite is the "Sage Farms" organic stand, where they have some of the best strawberries and chocolate tomatoes I've ever had the privilege of tasting. In addition, their beef jerky is grass fed and also really good. For meat, I'd suggest the fish stand for fresh and flavorful seafood. I've had their John Dory filets (perfect in tacos or breaded), their wild caught salmon, the black sea bass, and the smoked salmon. All of these were fantastic. The oysters are apparently pretty good too, but I don't tend to be an oyster fan. It's hard to find better seafood than this in Riverside. Trying to stay cage free and organic in relation to your chicken? This place also has farm fresh eggs and chicken breasts for really decent prices. I pay a little more than I'd pay at the grocery store for something non-organic, but the taste, the color, and the consistency of the chicken is far superior to that you can pick up at the grocery store. I only buy my chicken breasts here, and will continue to do so for as long as they will stay open. The honey stand, the apple stand (when in season), the array of greek food, and the bakery are also worth trying. This place really is a food-lovers dream! Since this farmers market has started I have been a loyal and frequent shopper. I have enjoyed seeing it change and evolve over the years. I prefer this farmers market for a few reasons. One, its downtown which offers charming surroundings, a clean environment, and its less than 2 miles from my house. I also like the long hours, 8am to 1pm gives you plenty of time to get out of bed and get down there to shop. I have also always had good and friendly experiences with the vendors. There is always a good selection of fruits and veggies, fresh baked breads, farm fresh eggs and chicken, and local honey. I also always pick up a bunch of flowers and fresh potted herbs. Now for the negatives: Due to the overly strict health department, dogs are not allowed. Now this isn't the markets fault, except I was practically verbally harassed by a vendor the one time I accidentally brought my dog. He was so rude, loud and aggressive and since then, I have always held it against the market. Also, you can not really be sure what produce is "locally grown" versus what produce is purchased from the LA produce market earlier that morning. I have seen one too many "Sunkist" boxes being unpacked for me to believe that all the produce is locally grown. So, I look for the signs that indicate to me that the food is organic, locally grown or sustainable. I wish the city would only allow "real" farmers to sell. I really hope the market continues to grow and expand over the years. Don't forget your reusable bags! read more

Yaaaaaaaas! Farmer's Markets are my heaven. I love local and handmade products, and that is all that they have at the Downtown Riverside Farmers Market. This is one of the best ones in Riverside, it's not crazy huge but it's got all the basics: ultra fresh produce grown near by, baked goods, hand-made soaps, fresh produce, aaand fresh produce. It is in a fantastic area, right next door to the Mission Inn. So, if you're feeling like a pastry and coffee, or if you want to walk off that breakfast you just had, this is a great place to do it. I'm a little sad that it's only on Saturday mornings (and shuts down ~noon) but the quality is top notch and the vendors are so incredibly friendly! Love hitting this market up on Saturdays. Its next to the Mission Inn so it's in a nice area to walk around and grab a bite for lunch as well. Parking is always fairly simple as the dinner crowds that show up at this part of town at night aren't out yet. Plus all the metered parking is free on weekends yay! As you walk up your almost always greeted with some sort off live music. Folk and jam bands type of stuff. Vendors seem to be the same every week for the most part. Lots of them selling local produce. A local fresh goat cheese stand, yum. Local honey, the couple that run this stand are very kind and helpful! A special shout out to them because they are always willing to answer my beekeeping questions, being a new beekeeper myself that rocks! Moms food co. That sells hummus....OMG I can't even describe how much I LOVE their products. 3 items for 10$ you can't go wrong. Best hummus ever, period. Chicken/egg guy. Before we started keeping chickens we bought eggs from him every week. They are large and tasty. The fresh NEVER FROZEN whole chickens are a great deal. Free range no hormones, much cheaper than you will pay at Sprouts for that type of meat. My final favourite is probably the fresh flowers stand. Buckets full of beautiful nice smelling fresh cut flowers all for 5$ a bunch. My hubs is wonderful and always buys me one so I cam have fresh flowers on my table. Love it! I'm a locavore!! There I said it! Well, I try to be at least. I love the concept of the farmer's market, buying food locally and organically grown and supporting local agriculture. And this one is nice and clean, with a decent selection of veggies and a few unique items. The prices are very reasonable, and I can get a week's worth of produce, some fresh flowers and organic chicken and eggs for about forty bucks. Not bad in my opinion. It does lack a bit in personality, but the setting is beautiful. I only wish there was a larger variety of unique organic products, particularly cheeses, oils, etc. It could use some improvement, but its well worth the trip. read more
