I wanted to write an updated review of Downtown Tarot Company because they are truly a GEM of downtown Rochester and I'm so grateful that they exist! Since my last review in 2021, I have frequented this shop a TON and this year I basically have gone every week. I have gotten very into the metaphysical, so I initially began shopping here more frequently because of their incredible and diverse crystal selection. I particularly love their mystery bags that the employees intentionally and thoughtfully curate! They are great to buy for yourself or your loved ones and it's a unique and thoughtful kind of gift that those who are interested in crystals, incense, candles, and holistic goodies will really appreciate! I've also done two different tarot readings, one was a 15 minute walk in that I was able to pop in and do in the same day, and the other one was a thoughtful gift my friend had gotten me. Both readings were so lovely and spot on as well! As of this year, I've begun to take their CLASSES! They offer a ton of incredible classes, taught by their incredible employees who are subject matter experts in their fields! I've taken Tarot 1 (January 2025), Tarot 2 (February 2025), and Lenormand (April 2025) classes with Janis and The Magic of Astrology (March 2025) with Jorie! All have been incredible and hence why I keep coming back! Be sure to pay attention to their class offerings as the ones so far I've signed up for are multi-week ones, but they also offer one-time, one-off classes and I have a couple of those coming up in the next few months here! It is always the most incredible time at Downtown Tarot Company! Everyone who works here is so friendly and welcoming, very helpful to any and all questions you might have, and are always open to suggestions on what other merchandise you want to see in the store!! read more

We decided to day drink in Rochester because... Well, why not? While there we found this cool tarot shop. My niece is really into this and I love witchy stuff. So we decided to check it out and send her some pics. This was a great place even if you're not into that. Decided on a whim that I wanted to go get a tarot reading so I headed straight to google as you do to see what was close by. Jorie had a next day appointment so I was good to go! The shop is very inviting while having a little bit of something for everyone. I brought home a few new crystal towers and other items. My reading was my first one but I found it very accurate to where I am personally in my life and clarification on certain things I have been wondering about. Love love love this store. They have an amazing crystal selection as well as other little items you might want. The pricing tends to be higher than other crystal shops but at least you're getting some really nice pieces so it's worth it I think. They're also usually very friendly as well. I visited for the first time this past week and was SO impressed and wondered why I hadn't stopped in before. The product selection is gorgeous, beautifully displayed. The crystals (at all price levels) are gorgeous and reasonably priced for the quality you are getting. I noticed there were herbs available, and other supplies you may need for rituals. I purchased an oracle deck (which I love) and a T-shirt on this visit and I will be back soon. I did not have a reading, so I can't speak to that. The staff is friendly and welcoming, too! read more

This place is probably one of my favorites in downtown rochester! Its so fascinating and my psychic is on POINT! I have been seeing Jorie since July (two seperate readings) and honestly I really think that she has a talent for this stuff. I was going through some things when I first saw her and I didnt tell her anything because I wanted to see if she was legit. She literally uncovered what I was going through & suggested next steps for me. I wasnt expecting her to cure a disease or anything but it was just crazy how she was just able to find out exactly what was happening without me even hinting at it. The staff at this shop are amazing! They are incredibly helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I was impressed with their inventory. I was a huge fan of this store, I have a rewards system there as I am an active shopper. However, I recently had a negative experience. I encouraged my friends to come with me into the store as I have genuinely enjoyed their products, so we went inside. As we were shopping around, my friend made it apparent to me that the worker had been recording me while shopping around in the store. He had his phone camera out and was recording me and my friend shopping and smelling their fragrances from behind us. I had purchased what was in my basket and exited the store with my 3 friends. While outside, my friend explained how he was recording us the entire time we were shopping. I went inside to speak to the worker about the behavior and he had claimed that the inventory was off so he was recording us in case he needed to show the police. Which was unnecessary because there is a security camera in the store, therefore a phone camera would not be necessary. When the security camera was addressed to the worker, their response was that they didn't have time to watch the footage so they took a video on their phone as well. He apologized if it made me uncomfortable. As a young girl, I did find it very uncomfortable to be unaware of being filmed while doing something as simple as shopping. We were not the only individuals in the store at the time either, however the couple with their baby in the store at the time was not being recorded. As a young female I assume that I fit the demographic for an individual that would steal and would therefore be justified by the recording he took of me. It was inappropriate behavior and I will not be giving The Downtown Tarot Company my service again. read more
