I've been coming to earth lore forever!!!!!! They have stones and oils and everything your alternative self ever wanted. I used to get earrings here all the time. The selection hasn't been as good over the last few years but still worth looking at. I love getting oils here and incense. I recently got some really cute candles for a birthday cake. It is the best place for intentional gift giving. One year I was given a free mug on Black Friday. I wish they would have done something like that again. Anyway worth a stop in it's one of my favorite places to shop. The staff are always helpful and can explain the meaning behind things pretty well. Love the store itself. I'm a chronic collector of crystals and incense sticks, so I've spent a good chunk of money and will likely continue to do so, as they are the only shop like it anywhere near me. Also, you can't beat the smells both inside and outside of the store space. With that being said, actual positive interactions with the folks who run the place are few and far between. They just always stare at you from behind their little counter square. If you ask them a question, you'll be answered in short, one-syllable words. Attempts at polite banter at the checkout are met with frosty silence and on one occasion, an eye roll. Like, you don't have to jump into my arms and emotionally validate me, but maybe just try to pretend like my presence isn't a burden to you. That would be great. read more

I love this store. There's such a great variety of items and you can find something for almost anyone here as a gift. Costs are pretty average. But the selection of things is way better. Crystals. Tarot decks. There are dozens and dozens of each and you could be here for hours before really looking at and seeing everything there is to see. read more

I should not have brought my credit card, but glad I did. I was like a kid in a candy store. Books, dragons, stones, wind chimes, jewelry, cards, candles, and I could go on and on about the different types of stuff they sale. All at more than a fair price. This is almost a one stop shop for anything for spiritual growth no matter what you believe. The the World of Rocks in Ypsilanti had more variety but this place has many more sizes of the many popular stones. A wall of candles and incense choices. Tarot cards and angel whisper cards take up 2 book cases. Books shelved by type so you can browse by belief. Bumper stickers and cards will let you tell your beliefs to the world are on spinners near the door are almost too tempting not to get. Some mall jewelry store have less selection than this place. And you will get better service here. Street parking and a city lot across the street makes it easy to park near. At the edge of downtown, it is easy to find. It is even kid friendly since I saw a few there during my visit choosing from the stone and minerals display. I will be back again since I saw too much I loved but need to save up for. read more

I walked over to Earth Lore and was pretty disappointed with the customer service. I checked their website since I wanted to know any guidelines with Covid. The website stated that they allow walk-ins and reservations. If they are at capacity when you walk-in, it will be a few minute wait. So I went with the walk-in option.... When I got there I was told I needed reservations or I could be added to a wait list that was a few hours long... After walking over and having a girlfriend drive over from out of town, pretty disappointing that they were not practicing what their website says. If you are trying to shop here, I would recommend making reservations to get in or you won't be able to shop. read more

I am a very satisfied customer of Earth Lore. The people who work at Earth Lore helped me when I asked for it. I wanted them to hook a pendent onto a chain and they did it on the spot with no extra charge. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help customers. I buy only the Christian merchandise but there is merchandise for many different religions and cultures. I highly recommend going to Earth Lore and give it 5 out of 5 stars. There are also sale items in the store and you can find amazing deals at times. In addition, they give you a punch card for buying items and if you punch out all the squares on your card you get dollars off your next purchase. You ever walk into a new place and immediately feel at peace / at home / comfortable? This is one of those shops. Went for the first time and immediately fell in love. Of course there is the smell but what immediately hit me was the way the store is arranged and laid out. Don't know exactly what it is but maybe it is some perfect blend of left brain / right brain balance. I am sure I could try to explain further but everything just clicked. I heard complaints that "everything is expensive" but I am happy to report I do not feel that way at all. I trend towards frugal but ended up grabbing 2-3 additional items because... I'm very tired of their social media pages deleting critical, negative, or any comment that would require they take accountability for being a terrible business. I have been in the yoga, holistic, and wellness industry for over a decade. I would frequent Earthlore for the majority of these years, until my best friend visiting from Arizona was verbally accosted and scolded like a child for trying to use a full punch card I had given her as a gift for her purchase. The cashier also accosted me for trying to "steal" in this manner. The punch card is full, I paid for it, and there's no reason the clerk should've confiscated it (essentially stealing $10 credit from ME) I decided to give them another chance, since it had been a few years, and brought my autistic friend. We perused the store separately from each other, and the staff did not know we were together. My friend asks lots of questions due to her autism, and after her 3rd or 4th question, the staff member turned around, rolled her eyes, and mouthed "what the fuck?" To another employee, clearly making fun of my friend asking so many questions. My jaw hit the floor, and I made furious eye contact with her as I went to stand guard by my friend and answer her questions instead. She then looked guilty, because she was caught making fun of a customer. I have repeatedly asked their instagram page why their staff is so mean, and they delete them furiously, never responding, so here is the official review of their awful business. Do you really want crystals and magical items that have been sitting in a cesspool of bad vibes and negativity? I think not. Sacred Sage in Farmington and Inner Sage in ferndale are amazing alternatives with such lovely, pleasant, and helpful staff, and the BEST vibes. Go anywhere but here. read more

Just left Earth Lore disappointed. With the pandemic, they've been forced to take reservations - which I'm all for. However, after stopping in and calling several times over the last couple months, we were never able to wait hours to get in. When we were finally able to get in, they said they wouldn't take pur punch card because it expired end of year. Yikes. They were willing to lose a repeat customer for $10 when a pandemic has kept us from coming in. Not great business practice, imo. They have some good products but unfortunately, that won't bring us back when there are other stores that sell the same merchandise. read more

After the state mandate for masks was lifted we decided to visit Earth Lore. We wore masks to be respectful as some places still require them (No Big). We were turned away at the door because they are only allowing customers by appointment only. We said fine, a little over the top but ok. The next available appointment to enter the store was 4 days out. Don't waste your time visiting this store as Amazon will be able to fill your orders with a guarantee in half the time. This is quite disappointing being stuck at home with nothing to do ran out of essential oils and thought I would come to Plymouth and enjoy walking through a cute store when we got to the door my girlfriend and I realized that they have a capacity of 17 people but there was a couple hour wait, Which I can understand when it's a restaurant but I cannot understand when it's a store you walk in you find your product you pay you walk out. The store itself is amazing, great product (on the pricey side), but they have a huge selection of items. The staff was not as great.. They gave us short answers every time we had questions about a high-ticket item we were looking to purchase, so we gave up and didn't purchase the item. It's a shame, if the staff was more helpful and even a LITTLE BIT friendly I would've loved this place. Out of the 3+ employees that were working, none of them were friendly. Recently went to Earth Lore, customer service has taken a tremendous hit and COVID-19 should not be the excuse. I waited for a spot to shop inside, a new ring was on my radar. The store was busy and many people were told to wait on the text message list (I did as well). After browsing the selections, finding a ring I wanted to purchase I proceeded to wait in line to check out. While waiting a woman says " you can't just leave things out " in a very gratuitous manner more than loud enough. I replied confused and uncomfortable because as busy as the store was nobody looked available or near by for me to express I was done looking at the tray of rings. A second kind, blonde young lady at the register checking out my item was very sweet and we attempted to overlook the drama as she thanked me for shopping, I said thank you as well. In between trying to complete the transaction the more ornery woman swings around to the shoulder of the person bagging my item and just stands there. The blonde gal wishes me a good day and I wish her a good day, then I hear "you have a better one" Glad I got her name during that rude exchange. Ally- even as a manager you will never achieve the heights you'd like to in life without peacefully learning to speak to others even in moments of conflict. For Each Lore to be the kind of store that it is I'm just very disappointed. Ive been a client for many years, since college and beyond while also referring friends and family. Thank you for sarcastically hoping I have a better day but in complete honesty I didn't walk in having a bad day and I didn't let you ruin it. I may not return as a customer but while I took time to let this settle while I meditated on the situation for a while I wanted to send you a personal message. There is something magical about Earth Lore that makes me love to shop here. Maybe it's the smell of incense. Or maybe it's the soothing, mystical music that echoes around the store. Either way, I think this is probably the nicest and largest Metaphysical bookstore in the Detroit area. Earth Lore has all kinds of items from books to music to herbs to crystals to scented oils and incense. It's truly a remarkable place with all of your metaphysical needs all in one place. I love to just go in and browse. This store has a lot of the same items as the Livonia store, but the store is much larger and is located in quaint Downtown Plymouth. The other advantage is the black cat that is in the store. He is very friendly, but be forewarned that if you pet him he will follow you around the store and expect to be petted frequently. The staff seems friendly enough. Most of the time I've been inside they sit at the cash register and play on the computer. I'm not sure how knowledgeable they are about their products or related fields. If you're ever in downtown Plymouth make a detour to this truly unique haven for spirituality and you will not be disappointed. read more

She was extremely rude and yanked the bracelets I was looking at out of hand as if I were going to steal them because I guess you're not supposed to take them off the hook? The staff saw me taking the bracelets off the hook and were even talking to me while I did it, which is why I was confused why I couldn't hold them? I get being protective over inventory, but there's no need to be rude/aggressive about it. If you're looking for a specific crystal it's an easy in and out, but if you're looking for insight from staff or the manager this is not the place to go. With covid going on they seem to prefer reservations, just a call when you're on your way. The limit is 17 people, so there's not a ton of space. The selection is really cool. They have so much, crystals, carvings, a lovely selection of books I forgot to snap a picture of. Tons of jewelry, just great gift variety. Earthlore is supposed to sooth the soul when you walk in but today that wasn't the case. When I walked in the workers looked at me but I was never greeted, I asked for assistance to open the earrings up and the lady said "sure, anything else" but with a "lazy" attitude. Lastly checking out was the worst. she didn't ask if I found anything okay, I was taking my stuff out of the basket to put it on the counter and she yelled at me to not to and leave my stuff in the basket. Beautiful store with so many options and goodies! I love their crystal and book selection and I will definitely be back. The one thing about this place is, I've been here twice and both times when I asked one of the sales girls a question about a crystal, neither knows a thing. Every other metaphysical store I go to, they know what they are talking about. The name of crystal, healing powers ect. That's the unfortunate part about this place.
