I met Dr.Hartley at the body, mind, spirit expo in Denver. She answered all of my questions and then some, she is super knowledgeable. After suffering a stage 3 sprain on my ankle from a boating accident I went to see Dr Jen. I rolled in on a medical scooter, and she adjusted my ankle (which had had an ankle replacement on it 4 years prior) and Dr. Jen suggested shock wave therapy, done in her office. 2 days after the 1st session I was able to walk with crutches and a boot. A day after the 2nd session the following week, I was walking unassisted by a boot or crutch. After the 3rd session within 5 days, I was able to wear my shoe and walk without a limp. I am coming up on 11 months of coming to Dr. Jen Hartley. Last year I was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis and was told by the rheumatologist that my only option was expensive medication A, with constant vomiting and hair loss, or medication B, an experimental biological medicine recommended by some golfer that was three times more expensive and may cause death. Needless to say, I chose none of the above. I presented my issue to Dr. Jen and she got to work on it. I was given a tea to make and drink daily, and I started a series of treatments. Dr. Jen isn't just a chiropractor, she does so much more. The N.E.T. treatments WORK. The tea took time to build up in my system, but after three months I noticed a significant decrease in pain in my joints and increased flexibility in my hands. Dr Hartley changed my life! A few years ago I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease that required me to take steroids and immune-suppressing meds. I used to enjoy my visits here but lately Dr. Jen seems to have lost her way. Adjustments start moving back as early as the evening they are received where I hear popping and cracking noises. After the adjustment I consistently notice my neck making an annoying noise throughout the day when I move my head like there is stuff rubbing around in there. It's pretty much more of an annoyance than just needing an adjustment. You can expect a 20-30 minute wait time and after being a regular customer you just get cycled in and out of her room in 10 minutes with the same exact dialog. "Hi , so good to see you!" Unprofessional and beware of hidden charges. I emailed Dr. Jen on 4/15/17 explaining that since I bought a new car, no matter how I adjust the seat, it's been causing me pain. Dr. Jen does this procedure often referred to as muscle testing. So I thought she might be able to come out to my car in the parking lot and help adjust it by muscle testing me. I asked if she thought she could help and if so, the cost? I didn't get a response so on 4/17/17 I went to her website and completed her contact form restating the problem. No response. So I left a message on her voicemail on 4/23/17 referencing the earlier messages and requesting a response. No luck. Also, a strange thing about her voicemail, it doesn't have any identifying information such as her name, just leave a message. I checked the number twice to be sure it was correct. Either way, if she couldn't help in that situation or just didn't want too, why not just respond and say, "Sorry, I can't help with that"? Instead, I was ignored. Regarding hidden charges: On one visit I mentioned a problem I've had with my right shoulder. She did a regular adjustment and then focused on my shoulder. It was just an extra couple of minutes but I was charged an additional fee, that is, besides the regular cost of the adjustment. If there are extra fees, the client should be notified prior to the procedure. Another example is when I purchased my arch supports. The price varied from approx $150 - $200. And of course, mine turned out to be the max, approx $200. Why? I would have asked her except you don't find out the cost until you go to the receptionist and by that time Dr. Jen already has her next patient. I agree very much with the comment by Nicole D. on 5/12/13 and I edited it a bit: 'You can expect a lengthy wait time and after being a regular customer you just get cycled in and out of her room within a few minutes...She is really nice when you're a new customer though.' In order to avoid the wait, I told the receptionist that I want to be her first appointment when Dr. Jen returns from lunch. I came five minutes early and there was already someone in her office and I had to wait. I asked the receptionist, "I thought I was the first appointment?" The receptionist said something like this patient was a walk in? But they were closed for lunch. It didn't make sense. Those problems aside, I think Dr. Jen is a decent chiropractor and on the surface, at a competitive price. But then when you start tacking on additional costs for other aches and pains, she well might prove to be more expensive. She also uses a lot of tools for adjustments. I always preferred manual adjustments but I know a lot of chiropractors are moving towards the machine methods. All that being said, I planned on continuing to see her. I just knew that in the future to always ask the cost as I did in the email/contact forms. Maybe that is why she didn't get back with me?? UPDATE: While Jen didn't respond to my 3 messages via 3 methods over 9 days, she responded immediately to my review. She called and I was subject to a 20 minute lecture. She denied getting my email; said her staff was responsible for notifying her about which contact forms should be brought to her attention; and that her calling now was her first business day after my message. That isn't correct per the phone log. My call was on 4/23 so 4/24 was her 1st business day and she didn't call until 4/26, after my review. The bottom line is all I was hoping for was for Jen to call and acknowledge she dropped the ball and ask what can be done to make things right; instead, suddenly there are two more favorable posts. UPDATE 2: Response to Sarah G: Sarah doesn't appreciate the heart of my complaint, that I contacted Jen using her 3 different methods over 9 days asking if she provides the service I discussed above and if so, how much? The problem was Jen didn't contact me until she saw my review and then it was to lecture and scold me and not to say that she messed up and wanted to get back on track. That aside, as for Sarah's comments that Jen now has a 'new intake form' that lists all prices, that is great and perhaps in response to my review? Either way, a patient signs that on the first visit and it might not be months or even years before s/he needs additional care. The patient shouldn't be expected to remember there is an additional cost. What harm would it be if Jen said she can treat the new problem and the cost is $x ? read more
