Tyler did a great job cutting my 3 year old's hair! My kiddo is usually a bit anxious with these types of things, and we all know toddlers can be a bit squirmy. Tyler was very patient and made him feel comfortable. You can tell Tyler really loves what he does as he pays attention to every detail. Great atmosphere, awesome razor fade! These guys are good to go. My last haircut got jacked up by one of those salon places (don't ask). Anyway went here and these guys fixed me up. Probably only place in town i could call Real barbers because after calling a few of these "barbers" and asking if they can do a razor fade, they all said no or didnt know what i was talking about. After 11 years of getting haircuts in the garage with my dog grooming clippers my son asked to get a "real" haircut. After a month or so of growing his hair out I made an appointment here at DR J's. Unfortunately the weather sucked the week of the appointment and I called the day before to cancel because I was too worried about the roads. Tyler answered and was extremely nice and understanding and rescheduled us for the following week. Brought my son in and showed Tyler a few pictures off Pinterest of haircuts my son liked and left him to do his magic. Both my son and I were ecstatic with the results! I have been seeing Jason and on occasion David since the shop opened up. I'm 33 and have only seen 3 barbers continuously over the years. Great atmosphere and always on time. A few times when running behind Jason has always communicated with me. Always have some great music playing and enough magazines to keep you occupied. Even though i get the same cut every time they still ask what i'm looking for and he always follows up afterwards. I have lived in Lynnwood for 10 years now and tried a few barbers down here but you just don't get the attention to detail and the professionalism that Dr. Jays provide. Highly recommend. read more

Don't book David. Honestly, I hate to leave a bad review because J and his other barber seem really nice, but I was pretty unhappy with the way I was treated by David. To begin with, I booked my appointment for 11:00 and decided to arrive at 10:30 in case the seat opened up a little early. I wouldn't have minded my cut starting even as late as 11:10, but I didn't even get into the chair until 11:30, there was no apology for lateness, and David walked over the the remote and started fiddling with the TV for a few minutes after sitting me down. My cut probably didn't even start until 11:35. I felt like this was really disrespectful towards me and towards my time. During and after the cut I was also treated pretty poorly. David asked me what I wanted, but we had a hard time discussing exactly what I was going for. I was trying to articulate something in layman's terms, so I did the best I could by telling him when my hair was last cut and the techniques the previous barber had used to achieve the look. I didn't have a picture, so I can understand a little bit of frustration, but David didn't try to meet me halfway by throwing out suggestions. Instead he took a very defensive attitude and said that I needed to tell him exactly what I wanted so that I wouldn't end up dissatisfied. In the end just told him to trim it up. Finally, at the end of the cut when I offered a small criticism on the shape of the cut, instead of offering a suggestion of how I might style my hair to avoid the problem I was anticipating or just making a few alterations to the cut, David again got defensive and said, "Well, that's how you told me to cut it." I felt that he grossly misinterpreted my suggestion as an attack on his person, which strikes me as unprofessional. Whether or not you agree with the customer, the customer is right and should be treated as such. I felt like the whole time I was there, he was looking for a fight, and it shouldn't be the customer's job to manage an uncomfortable situation like that. David had a bad attitude. I went in for a relaxing experience and left feeling like I had paid for a confrontational experience. I will not be going back. read more

Dr. Jays Barber Shop cuts my sons hair and has been for the last year . We come in every 2 weeks and David my sons Barber knows what my son wants his cut to be. They are very professional and customer service is good. David knows my son by name and he treats my 9 year old with respect asks him about his day! My spouse had grown out his hair for 3 years after leaving the military. His hair had to be around 14 inches at least. On a whim he decided to walk into the neighborhood barber to chop it all off. I'm not sure who did the cut, but it looked great! He was lined up and the cut faded perfectly. I recommend anyone who needs a barber to come to this shop. My husband also commented on how nice the atmosphere was, specifically the contemporary music and décor. great customer service too. Especially the day before my wedding: I needed to look good for my big day and Dr. J's delivered. I don't trust anyone else. Made an appointment for my son he is almost 5 and they did a GREAT job on his fohawk. Very patient and understands what things bother kids when getting a cut. Will recommend them to anybody and will go back in the future. Walk-ins are welcome but I would recommend making an appointment because they are pretty busy at times. Pricing is very fair. read more

Rad spot, coming from bigger cities I was happy to find a shop that actually knows what a fade is, also how to maintain cut in parts. People always ask why I drive 45 mins away just to get my haircut... Well the reason is, Dr. J's is more then just a barber shop. It's the type of place where you will feel more like friends then just a customer. The barber's are well knowledgeable in what they are doing and great at it. The haircuts that you receive are not only fantastic but they will leave feeling confident about the way you look. I will continue to go here until I am no longer in WA.
