Good food. Did not know it required reservations. We were able to get a seat at the high top outside in the sun. Had good view. Wish we were able to sit inside.

Thought this was a tourist location... But surprisingly so many locals were here, so I stand corrected. A locals hangout in a tourist location. Quality/Quantity - Sampled two beers and settled for Rudis APA 425ml (14.4oz). It was a good beer, but the glass sure seemed smaller than 14.4oz, maybe because it was a "highball" glass...? Fairly extensive drink menu, see picture. Lots of different promotions including happy hour, see pictures. Atmosphere - Beautiful views, and perfect for "people watching." 3rd floor rooftop. Cool decor. Open kitchen, but we already ate, so no food for us. I got lucky and got the best seat in the house. Well until everyone around us started smoking. Service - Okay, when we checked in at the door, we told the host that we are here just for one beer. But the waitress seemed disappointed that we only ordered one beer. But this is a no tip society, actually tip and tax are always included in the price; love it. The US can learn from this! Anyways, she took our order and someone else finally delivered our one beer. Not sure if she ever came back, even though I opened a tab just in case I wanted to drink more. FYI - You can order via QR code also, but the waitress told us to order from her. Counter service is also available. They also take reservations. Price - $14.50 NZ; $8.70 US. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success; you were crazy busy when we got here. Great, you are able to cater to both locals and tourists.

IPA after an hour walk along the harbor from the rooftop

My wife and I were on vacation in Auckland and we walked for about three hours along the harbor. The place is super clean and we went during the weekend and it was PACKED. After so much walking, I was ready for a beer. I ordered a seasonal IPA from the bar and brought it outside to overlook the harbor. It was a great respite after so much walking, and I saw lots of great food going by. The pizza looked great! If I would be near here again, I would definitely get some food, as it looked scrumptious,

What an exclusive feeling! Cocktail bar/ lounge/club/ restaurant!! Outstanding patio overlooking the pier! Tasty lamb ribs and amazing burgers. Indoor bowling was a cool touch.

This was our last stop in Auckland before heading back home. We started with their spiced apple cider made in house which was light and crisp. My husband ordered the fish tacos which were slightly fishy in my opinion but he enjoyed them, and they definitely didn't skimp on the amount of fish. I ordered the bang bang chicken noodle salad which was delish along with a side of fries. The views from the rooftop are great and service was really friendly. The one room for improvement tip is that we tried to order from the QR code scan but it needed to send a text verification for payment which I've never seen before. We had turned off our data since we were abroad and were only connected through WiFi so I couldn't receive any texts outside of iMessage, and therefore we were unable to order or pay through our phones. The server was very nice and took our orders and held our credit card up front until we were ready to pay. Apparently they have had several people try to leave without paying so they now hold a credit card until you're ready to pay. Overall great laid back restaurant/bar on the water

I was looking for a local bar or brewery that offered a nice variety of New Zealand beers a few locals recommended this place. They are located right by the marina, if you can grab a seat outside on the balcony you'll enjoy some great views. It was to packed when I visited. Went up to the counter to check out the large selection of beers. I went with a sampler of 4 beers for $20. Rudi's pale ale, simple and smooth. Pointers pale ale was ok not my favorite. Rudi's lager 5% was a crisp taste and a popular pick. The one I enjoyed the most was the Rudi's IPA strong flavor. Disappointed they didn't have a bar area to sit at...since I was here by myself. They have two bowling lanes but they were taken over by a group of people for the time I was there.(entertaining watching people go up and ask if they were almost done, each time they just started a game ) A few pinball machines. I enjoyed my sample and had a pint of the IPA.

Dr. Rudi's Rooftop Brewing Co. was a solid spot to enjoy a beer on a Friday night! Overlooking the marina area, this place combines a view with some brewed in house beers. We tried their beer flight deal for 4 beers for $20. Our flight included Rudi's Lager, Tuatara Aotearoa, Tuatara Hazy, and Tiger. We also had a sample of their Rudi's IPA and crushed apple cider. The beers were all quite unique and each had a complexity that's different from the American beers we are used to. The Tuatara Hazy was my favorite out of everything we tried. This place definitely gets crowded for a reason especially on a Friday night. I wish we could have gotten a table overlooking the water, but we settled for a table inside. Food is available, the DJ was playing some fun music, and they even have 2 bowling lanes and pinball machines available as well. I would definitely come here again!

Great place for NZ beers! We were in the mood to try some local NZ beers and we're glad we stumbled upon this place. We decided to split a sampler of 4, and you could choose any 4 of their beers on tap. We chose their most popular Rudi's lager, Tuatara Aotearoa, Tuatara Hazy Pale Ale, and Tiger. Each beer was unique and refreshing in their own way and I'm glad we chose the sampler to get a variety of what the local breweries have to offer. The waitress even let us sample a couple before we settled down on our sampler choices. Despite being a crowded Friday night, we were able to snag a spot at a table. Would return!

Beautiful day for beer and fresh air

The after-work atmosphere is lively but we came to The Bluestone Room for one reason and one reason only - Quiz Night. We booked a table and I'd definitely recommend you do to. Quiz night here is popular. As for the quiz itself, I'm told it's the same one they do in every pub - the 'Believe It Or Not' quiz. Personally, I thought it was pretty tricky. My two tips are to have a range of ages and different nationalities. People take quiz night here preeeetty seriously but I kind of like that - nothing like a bit of healthy competition. How did we fare? Well, not great but we didn't lose. I'll be back next with my Mum!

They were very popular stating in the early 1900s. The Auckland Domain Wintergarden was built a century ago. It has two glasshouses that contain the most beautiful flowers, a sunken Fernery and a courtyard with a pond and sculptures. Loved the glasshouse filled with so many colorful flowers. Giant hibiscus. Sunflowers. Gladiolas. Foxgloves. Begonias. The Fernery is so interesting. Loved walking into the sunken quarry and looking at all of the native ferns. The wooden statues which represent bird native to New Zealand were a nice touch. The Wintergarden is free. The gardens are two main greenhouses: one very warm, the other more temperate. In between the two is a fountain and pool, outdoor plants, and at the back is the entry to the fernery (a word I didn't know existed but now I want one for myself). The building on the right of the entrance is the warm one, which keeps the doors closed. Inside are many warmer weather plans including orchids, lotus, ferns, and tropical flowers. The building on the left is more temperate and has flowers galore; so many colors it's hard to know what to see first. The fernery is an amazing place - dark, damp, and quiet; you can either walk around the ring path at the top or go down the stairs to the bottom to look up. There are statues of various New Zealand birds around to show you what their silhouettes would look like if you came across them in the wild. You can't be aware how varied ferns are until coming here. This is an amazing free activity to do on your visit to Auckland, plus lots more nearby. You can easily spend a day in Auckland Domain. There were a few groups of retired people and school groups as well, worthwhile for any age.

Atmosphere and service was good, very attentive and a good view. I also received some Manuka honey as an additional gift. Food review French earl grey tea: Very fragrant, light, and smooth with such a nice aroma. I highly recommend. Cured kingfish in puri: It was alright, not a lot of flavor but I could taste the coconut. Puri was not crisp but slightly chewy and the kingfish had a mild flavor. Prawn toast: One of the best savoury dishes, both buttery and savoury with a delicious touch of sour with the lime pearls that wasn't too overwhelming. Parmesan shortbread: A little dry, the ricotta did not balance the dryness of the toast enough but the pickled onions cut through the grease well. Wagyu sausage roll: Not a hit, the roll was dry and oily. The black garlic purée was nice but I did not like the flavor of the roll as a whole, I tasted a sour undercurrent that was not a good fit. Hoisin smoked chicken sandwich: Nothing spectacular, I could not taste much hoisin flavor and there's was a little too much sesame that it got everywhere as you ate. Christmas ham brioche roll: I was not that wowed, the roll was mediocre and no flavors stood out. The bread reminded me of something I could get at any Asian bakery. Scone: The scone itself was good but the whipped honey butter was too heavy with the dense scone, would have preferred clotted cream or more whip so that it was lighter. Christmas tree: The wafer was too sweet and made the whole dessert overly sweet since the mousse itself was already on the sweet side. Orange almond cupcake: it was alright, not dry and a refreshing fruit flavor. Too much cream though the bee was cute. Mango mousse: Beautiful presentation, mousse was light and I liked the sesame wafer. Cheesecake: My favourite as I liked the shape and the jelly was an interesting addition. Ice cream bon bon: very fun with the smoke Champagne: they offer a non-alcoholic version, which I opted for. Very delicious and bubbly.
