Once you get admitted it's fine but the reception process is difficult and often get turned away or put the PEC unit. I dislike the PEC unit at Nepean hospital. It's really only suitable if you are normal and a bit sad. If you are out of control and violently actively suicidal and need to be kept safe they just aren't equipped enough to handle you. That's why I like acute or high dependency units. Yes it's loud and very frightening but the staff keep you safe and you do have your own room. There are activities, games, food and you see your psychiatrist every 3 days or so. They are trained well and staff helped me recover and stay safe. I know I can go back if I'm ever in trouble again. It's better then suicide. It's very loud and confronting as people are very mentally ill but you will be okay.
