I don't care what any of the reviews say, this is some of the best (and most flavorful) Chinese food in the Bronx. Happily surprised by this place and how great the food is. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their iced tea. It was tinted water with a diabetes inducing amount of sugar. Don't go for the drinks though! Dragon City has been around long time for real. I remember coming here in my youth and I'm in my 40's now. Glad to say they're still a great chinese food place, probably the best chinese food in the entirety of Co-op City itself. The food is fresh and made well. I love their crab rangoon and hot and sour soup. The Rangoon is perfection with crispy outside, crunchy chopped veggies and a hint of sweetness that I love. Their chicken and broccoli is favored by my brats. They love it with a nice crispy egg roll on the side. They're often keeping up with the changing times by offering little new items like sugar donuts, fresh lemonades. Service is always and has always been very pleasant and accommodating. They have never not been busy and overwhelmed but I have never had a bad interaction with any staff. They remember my face as a kid, so walking back in they had surprised but delighted looks on their faces. Almost like seeing family after a long gap. The restaurant has a few tables and the front reception works hard to put in orders and clean up ssimultaneously. They do a great job of managing and I was happy they made it through the pandemic. I went there today to order 2 boneless rib combo with brown rice and when I got home, both containers had pork fried rice. Why can't they just get the order correct like they used too? I'm kind of disappointed. I also asked for only duck sauce and they gave more soy and hot sauce. The first thing that struck me, as I walked in at about 6:00 to put in my order, was the cleanliness of this place. The only thing you could smell was the food being feverishly stir-fried in the kitchen. I placed my order, which included Shrimp Toast, for me a good barometer of quality. If it is dark, oily and smelly, the other food usually follows. In this case, it was golden brown, virtually non-greasy, due to a napkin in the bag (ancient Chinese secret?!?) and fresh tasting. I also had fried scallops and General Tso's chicken. The scallops were sweet, and the general Tso's was well-made, with a decent crunch to the broccoli, and crisp skin to the chicken nuggets. We Went to Dragon City for lunch with my husband. All the tables were dirty.My husband asked for a rag to clean the table. A Worker at register told him to wait. We waited and waited then he went back up to the register and my husband was given some napkins. We tried cleaning with napkins but had no success because the table was too sticky. My husband went up to get the food then another female worker came out with a rag yelling. Stating this restaurant is like a fast food restaurant. All my 50 years of living most fast food restaurants have the tables clean. It wasn't for so much hostility and yelling just to be able to sit on a clean table to eat food we paid for. If they keep the tables and floors that dirty in the common area , I could just imagine the cleanliness of the kitchen. Also they have a grade A inspection sticker on the window from 2022. I never had a problem here but basically I agree- It just works. I used to work in this area in Co-op City and did not wanna eat BK all the time. The only thing that sucked was I only had 30 min to eat lunch and sometimes this place would take forever to make General Tso's lunch special. Needless to say 90% of the time I could never finish the whole thing at lunch and then still get back to work on time. I did like the majority of the meal that I would eat though. I would like to start with why I will not order from this place again. I ordered a fairly small meal for me and a friend and the delivery guy shows up. I go to pay but he argues that he needs a bigger tip. At this point I am confused, why is a delivery man arguing with me over a tip when 1) free delivery is advertised and 2) I live within walking distance of the restaurant. I'm a pretty laid back person but never have I had someone argue with me over something that is supposed to be a supplement to GOOD service besides a few taxi drivers but that is a different tale. The food is not horrible however I would double check the NYC Dept of health report card on this restaurant before venturing in. There are some violations that you just do NOT want to see for a place you plan to buy food. With so many other Chinese food places in the area you would think that they would be going above and beyond to try and make sure the customer is satisfied or at least to ensure that their quality is better. This food is good and true Chinese New york take out! Their ribs are juicy and I always loved their Chicken and string beans right next to their chicken and broccoli! I've had beef & broccoli, chicken & broccoli, lo mein, and plenty of standard items you see on a take out menu. The only thing of importance is that it has 8 booths, with either yellow or faded orange/salmon (forgive me, I felt color blind when I ordered today) benches. The store manager Tina canceled a $33.40 order because her delivery guy wasn't getting more than a $2 tip. After the order was place, 5 minutes passed and she called back and told us she cancelled the order. Rounding it up to $35 wasn't good enough. She talked about how cold it was and she had to "look out for her guys" meanwhile since a credit card was used, her canceling the order tied the money up and had that been our last we would have been screwed. You're willing to throw away 20 years of patronage from myself and various people who visit in the house im in for $2? After the arguement and her complaining about how shes losing money and orders from being on the phone, she finally agreed to send the food but told the delivery guy if we didn't give him cash he's to bring the food back to her. Once he got here he told us what the deal was and he got a single dollar bill. That brought his tip to more than $2 but she has lost my business for good along with others that are aware of this.
