Excellent place. The food was perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was wonderful. Pricing was good. The service was great! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was this ... The wait between dishes being served was a bit too long. You start to grow tired waiting for the next dish to be served. I get that these dishes shouldn't be served on top of each other but I was getting to the point of becoming physically tired just waiting. Other than that, I will be back for sure to try more dishes. read more

Ah how much I wanted to love this place! I bookmarked it and kept until a good celebratory reason will come my way to check this place out. The photos and reviews were generally positive and I even considered to hire those guys to cater to my event. Sadly this will be a "ok" for me. I am not a picky diner, not at all, but I have traveled around the world and dined from a little shack underneath the highway in Thailand to the high 3 Michelin star restaurant in Kyoto. I was ready to be taken on a taste journey around SE Asia here tonight. We made a reservation, (highly recommend to make one in advance as this place got filled fast!) arrived on time and were seated promptly. Service was quick, yet there was a noticeable language barrier, which did not bother me at all, until I asked if we can switch tables, which our waitress did not understand or refused to understand.. I am not sure.. The food we ordered was plenty: - sashimi mix appetizer - salmon, tuna, sweet shrimp and scallop - divine - beef roll with crispy onion - deep fried soft shell crab - dragon roll - hotate (scallop) in sesame seed dressing - wakame salad (seaweed) on the bed of lettuce with sesame seed dressing. - 4 glasses of Merlo Don't take me wrong, the food was solid, enjoyable and service was quick and pleasant, but nothing stood out for me. It was generally good. Ohh, if you have been at Ron Gastrobar Oriental, you will like this place - for sure! (albeit those wagyu dumplings - yum!) Again, I understand that I might be too harsh on them, of course my experience was a bit dampened a bit by the fact that there is a loud construction happening outside of the back window, till 8 pm and it was impossible to have a conversation. I went here for the first time on Saturday and it was an amazing experience. I had relatively high expectations given the reviews I read and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and flavourful and the staff and service were fantastic. Our server was friendly (and let me practise my Dutch!) but more importantly, she was attentive, polite and knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Asian fusion tapas. Ordered maguro tataki, scallops on Pringles, salmon kimchi salad and the green curry pot. Salmon kimchi salad was raw salmon with hot sauce and lettuce. Not bad, but definitely not kimchi. Scallops were cooked well and were good, but think they were better when you eat it separate from the Pringles. Maguro was good and so was the hot pot. My mister and I visited this place when I was craving something healthy and something Asian. This hit the spot. We had reservations at 6:30pm and there was only one other table full at the time. But by the time we left, it had filled up quite a bit. They have a separate vegetarian menu so be sure to ask for that if you are veg. The service is friendly and to order you make check marks on a piece of paper to do your own ordering. Like others have mentioned, it's Asian-style tapas that they serve, so you order a few dishes for each person. The food was REALLY good but if you're someone that prefers quantity over quality, you might be disappointed by the serving sizes (I speak of my mister). Dragon I is an Asian fingerfood bar on the Amstelveenseweg where restaurant Umoja used to be till last summer. Inside, the split level restaurant can accommodate small groups, but everytime I've been, tables are occupied mainly by couples. Tasteful interior in black, brown and shocking pink (I know, but it actually works for this place) and a menu that offers plenty of seafood, meat, and veggie choices. It's a kind of fusion of Japanese/Cantonese/Korean streetfood served in a small and intimate setting. If you feel like an after-work drink there's a small bar down in the back that serves cocktails and various sakés - I grudgingly admit to liking the fizzy cherry variety. Be careful though: they come in small bottles and taste like cherry soda, so you can OD on them without noticing. Well, not until you get up after a few too many... Whoops ;-) read more

My dad and I enjoyed this restaurant so much that we went back a second time during our recent trip to Amsterdam. Tapas style Chinese/Japanese so we got to try many different dishes on the menu and enjoyed all of them. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu (ask for it) which was helpful. This is the type of place to go to if you wanna slow dine and take like 2-3 hours to eat... However it was a bit too noisy i guess its because it was quite a small place. The hubby and I came across this place because I was craving sushi and this turned out to be an Asian-fusion tapas place - not gonna complain. We started off with a refreshing California salad (a deconstructed California roll on top of lettuce, minus the rice), and the Japanese carpaccio. The beef was super fresh and the sauce that was used was perfect. Next we had the Salmon roll and the Crispy tuna roll (WINNER!). I usually don't care for tuna, but the way they made the roll was so delicious and the texture of the crispy rice contrasted really well with the tuna. The fish used was super fresh and not fishy at all. After that, we had the Malaysian Roti and finished the night off with the Tokyo Crepe that was flambé-d. The service was kinda slow between the dishes, but the servers were really nice and I'll definitely be coming back for the Crispy tuna roll! read more

Found this by accident, on a warm fall day, and sat outside. Our waiter was delightful. Our meal was incredible. The lamb chops and carpaccio roll were divine. Nice Aussie wine. However on our next visit it was a 2 hour wait; it seems to be a local favorite so I suggest reservations. read more

Excellent quality and taste, but a bit overly creative for my liking, with not enough departure from the traditional, if that makes sense. A place like Izakaya, for example, is full-on fusion, and that is its own unique experience, whereas the food here is more like creative interpretations of various sushi dishes that don't quite differentiate themselves enough to be interesting or exceptional. Still, the food was nice, clearly prepared with care, and the service fairly attentive and friendly, so it's a solid four stars. read more

Great setting and really fun asian "tapas" menu. Great little dishes to share and the staff is more than willing to accommodate for odd numbers in the serving size. (Like our party of 3) We took our time working through about 8-10 small dishes all of which were very well prepared and plated beautifully. The staff was attentive, yet not overbearing.
