First time coming to this shop and I am very impressed! The store is huge, clean and well organized with a nice variety of items from cards and minis to lore books and board games. Joshua (maybe Josh?) was the absolute kindest soul. He was welcoming and helpful and we talked about DND and different styles of games. Don't Listen to the other reviews. They're written by people who are impatient. I first walked into DD Gaming and was surprised by the massive amount of games for sale, the staggering amount available for playtesting, and the staff was super friendly! Helping me think of cards I could use in my decks, what games would be great for bringing new people into boardgaming, helping me find what I needed! Best of all, the massive amounts of events that are held almost every day to suit every kind of table top enthusiast, not to mention holding fun charity events often and partaking in the events of others. From Rapid City on the other side of the state hoping to find a good board game and comic store in Sioux Falls. Low and behold, this place exists! Unfortunately, I think the place should be renamed to "Magic den" due to the rather poor selection of board games all at MSRP. If you're a fan of Euro games at all, this is not the place for you. Moreover, the comic selection wasn't much to look at either. As a fan of Image and a few other non DC/ Marvel comics, there really wasn't too many items of interest. Couldn't even find copies of Saga or the trade paperbacks which is easily one of the hottest comics this year. I give them two stars for having a place at all and plenty of table space, but all I could see were people playing Magic on every table. read more

They no longer stock many comics and the store is now called Dragon's Den Gaming. That complaint about all the Magic players? Well, they do tournaments on weekends. My guess is that they stopped by during a tournament and didn't bother to ask about their other activities. They also custom order board games, so if they didn't have what you wanted, all you had to do is ask. As far as it smells like pizza? Of course it does. There's a Little Ceasar's three doors down. So, my take on it is that these reviews are somewhat disingenuous and possibly designed to drive customers to their competitor. Not cool. If you're looking for novelty gaming items, Magic/Pokemon/Yu-gi-oh! cards or some refreshing new board games, stop by and take a peek for yourself before making any assumptions. read more

I had a terrible experience with the owner of the shop. He had two cards that I was looking to purchase, but was asking way over market price. I was willing to pay slightly above market price because they were right in front of me but he literally wanted 108 dollars plus tax for both cards which I ordered the same day for 90 dollars with shipping! Owner was very rude to me when I tried explaining my point and he told me to order them online, so I did and saved almost twenty dollars. The thing he doesn't seem to understand is that I also had planned on buying other cards as well, along with any other future purchases that I wanted to keep local, but will now be taking my business elsewhere. No one needs to treat people the way he does! I also intend to let others know not to support this business as well! read more

Came in looking for a particular title. Looked a little bit. Asked if they had. Said "yeah we got that in but I don't know how many. ". No direction or maybe saying where it might be? Bought it somewhere else. Not much on the shelf. read more

Address in Yelp (and Google Maps) is wrong. They are now located on the South side of 41st Street just West of the Marion intersection. Great board game selection and if they don't have it, they can get it for you. We picked up a copy of Puerto Rico and a game called Zombie!!! that was recommended (ended up being a LOT of fun!) Friendly and knowledgeable guy working. Lots of kids playing games at open tables in the back. We didn't stay to play, but were told we were welcome to bring in our own games to play. read more

Walked in hoping to to get back into Magic the Gathering for the first time since 2006 as I felt incredibly overwhelmed shopping online since the game has changed so much since then. There were about four people behind the counter working and doing tasks and about six people at tables playing games, just like the good old days. I was so excited to rejoin the Magic community and relearn the game that had driven me to the collectible card games what seemed like so long ago. They seemed incredibly skeptical as I tried to explain that I came from legacy era and had a ton of old cards but didn't know where to start in standard. I used to shop at DD a ton when it had a previous owner and loved going there every Friday for Magic nights with friends from High School and later college. I even drove from Vermillion to come here because I loved the atmosphere of the Dragon's Den. Now I feel like it doesn't really have an inviting atmosphere and the people who either work there or own it do not seem to care about bringing new people to the store or taking an active interest in their customers. I can't say that I was treated poorly but I do not feel like I was assisted as I used to be or offered a place where I could go and get away from the world. My expectations might have been too high. I may attempt to check it out again at a later date but I was quite disappointed with the service provided and hope that others who have interest in joining MTG or other games that DD sells would be given a better experience. read more

Went in there for a comic book, saw that there was obviously a decent sized community playing there. Then the smell hit me like a freight train, almost sending me to my knees. There was a lingering scent of pizza and unwashed armpit flowing through my nostrils. As if the smell wasn't bad enough, the selection there is disappointing beyond all belief. Don't bother going if you want comics, go somewhere else instead,I guarantee they'll have a better selection than these clowns. read more
