I have played there many times and have always been pleased with what is a playing surface second to none in the County. The Club play in the Local Dover League and in the past few years have been both winners and runners up in the league. The club play host to many touring sides throughout the season, as well as hosting many County and National games. In 2010 they are hosting the County Competition Finals. New bowlers, visitors and spectators are always welcome there, a lovely place to spend a summer afternoon.

It has great indoor facilities and is light and airy and above all very clean. They have a very large outdoor play area with lots of swings, agility equipment and a climbing wall, a sandpit and my children love the zip wire. All in all a good day out for the kids.

It's a good beach, but not really huge and not really different. A quick visit was enough. I did prefer Stone Bay, which was more quiet. And the main point: Does allow dogs after 6pm. No dogs at any time in high season at Viking Bay.

The beach at Viking Bay is a sandy beach, nice size and very clean but be warned there is a lot of seaweed around in the sea and at the seas edge of the sea so if you don't like seaweed then this might not be the beach for you. On this beach there are changing huts, summer huts (which can be hired at a cost), a promenade and even a pier of sorts. To the northern end of the beach is a small harbour which is home to a little fleet of fishing boats. Overlooking the harbour is Bleak House where Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield. Viking Bay is a winner of a Blue Flag award it has excellent facilities and in the summer a lifeguard service ensures safe bathing. As well as all the beachside shops and cafes you would need. There is even a cliff-side elevator at the southern end of the beach so very good for people hard of walking and the disabled to get down to the beach easily. This beach is also dogs friendly beach however between 1st May and 30th September dogs are not allowed on the beach. Activities: Donkey rides, good fishing, swimming/bathing, surfing, trampolines, bouncy castle plus other children's rides and nearby a amusement arcade Facilities: Cafe/restaurant, toilets, disabled facilities, first aid point, deck chair hire, sunbed hire, umbrella hire, beach hut hire, promenade and small pier This beach is easy to get to from London (takes just under 2 hours with no changes) and then just 10 minutes walk from Broadstairs station only to the beach. I would definitely visit this beach again on a sunny day.

Ramsgate / Margate / Broadstairs - Drunks, Druggies and Rubbish: Ramsgate, Filthy, rubbish…read moreeverywhere... even sick on the pavement around the 'royal' harbour, as for the 'beach' we kept our shoes on, I wouldn't walk bare foot here... again, as said before, poor old Ramsgate... broken, down at heel, unloved by it's local authority, unloved by it's population in general, filthy, grotty, decaying. What is going to happen to the Pavilion.... why doesn't Thanet start by sorting out that building and restore it. Broadstairs is full of drunks, wasn't even lunchtime, but still a slightly better than both Margate and Ramsgate as we didn't see any druggies. Slightly better shops, but the beach again is filthy. Margate is just full of druggies, as soon as we got there we were pounced on by 3 asking for change/light/and if we want any.... Turner Art Gallery on the front is a joke with the 'rubbish' inside it, and restaurants.... well you would be lucky to find any which isn't a Wetherspoons standard. The beach had sand....but also dog mess, JCB vehicles and rubbish. DON'T DO the 'Turner and Dickens Walk', it leave one council estate, cross 3 cabbage fields to enter another council estate, call Maragte.... how is this advertised as a historical/peaceful 'walk' - when you get to Margate, you are at the top of 'druggies' alley, and you have to go through it to get to the beach at the bottom, you will see some horrific sights....
