Lastly out came the Jerk Chicken Quesadillas. Now these were the star of the show for sure melted cheese, with sweet pineapples, and purple coleslaw to boot. Came here for a dinner with family on a Sunday night. We were greeted by friendly faces…read moreimmediately, and were happily seated in a back table. The space was roomy, giving my toddlers enough room to move around the table. The food was very flavorful! Everything was seasoned perfectly - not too salty, not too sweet - balanced. We started out with the calamari - mixture of breaded squid rings and tentacles, fried just right to give each bit a nice crisp while keeping the bounce in the squid meat such that it wasn't chewy. It was served with lemon wedges and marinara, which complimented the simple salt seasoning. We also had coconut shrimp - these were massive jumbo shrimp fried in a crispy coconut flake coating. It was so crispy that you could bite through the tail without getting bits of shrimp shell in between your teeth. It was paired well with a creamy sauce, that complimented the shrimp's salinity. The platter itself was decorated with a beautiful flower on the plate. Lastly, we enjoyed a basket of warm tortilla chips (thin and super crispy) paired with a mortar filled to the brim with guacamole. The guacamole was simple and yet so flavorful. For the main course, my 4 yo had the chicken tenders with broccoli and apple juice. This might as well been an adult entree because the tenders were huge! The portions were definitely larger than my kid could finish - so definitely shareable. My 6 yo had the mac and cheese with a basket of fries. Same thing here - felt like an adult sized meal, it came out out a cast iron platter to keep it warm throughout the dinner. The fries were oh so crispy - thin, not like thick diner wedges, which I prefer. My wife tried jerk chicken for the first time. It was a half chicken, full of meat, seasoned with delicious spicy jerk seasoning that gave that skin a crispy saltiness to it, the balanced the juicy tender chicken meat. It was served with plantains - these were not the maduro plantains I'm used to eating, which tend to be sweet - these were more like a potato which makes sense for a savory entree. Along side the plantains was a serving of collared greens which stewed down to a consistency that reminded me of cream of spinach, but without the cream. I had the grilled salmon, which was a filet grilled medium well, seasoned with capers that accentuated the salmon's natural flavors. It paired so well with the large mound of lightly seasoned yellow rice and mixed vegetables. Finally for dessert, we could not help but order the 16 layer rainbow cake. Definitely a slice to share with a party. It's a show stopper for its height. Despite how tall it was, it was happily and surprisingly not very dense and the icing not so thick. Prices were decent and comparable to other done in restaurants. The wait staff was very attentive. Overall it was a very pleasurable dinner and would go back to try their other menu items!
