The owner could not have picked a better staff to serve us during an after-work Event hosted by the Urban League on 3/10/26. Most of the appetizers passed around were delicious with great portions and at a good temperature. The Oxtail Toast was meaty, tender and well seasoned. The Whiting Toast was crisp, tasty and had good texture. However, the Jerk Chicken Toast was not spicy enough for me. The Honey Meatballs with Pineapple on Top left a lot to be desired. Stacey was our bartender, and she made me a Soursop Margarita: Lalo Tequila, Goya Soursop Juice, and No Triple Sec, please!!! She surprisingly poured the juice from a carton of Goya Soursop. For $18, I was expecting freshly puréed juice. The Lalo Tequila, however, was smooth and strong (40% alcohol), which made the cocktail taste good. I brought my mom here on Friday for an early Mother's Day dinner. The ambiance is great. I loved the music playing and the pictures of the reggae artists on the wall. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. My mom ordered a guava juice ( pic not shown) which she enjoyed. I had water with lemon. There are a lot of choices of foods on the menu. I ordered the curry chicken meal. It was delicious. My mom had the oxtail/curry goat meal. She wasn't very pleased with it. I ordered oxtail with rice and peas, jerk pork with rice and peas along with jerk wings. Overall, the food was surprisingly underwhelming. The jerk pork was the biggest disappointment; not tender, chewy. The rice was just fine but pretty unremarkable. The oxtail was good with a good portion and they thankfully didn't skimp on the gravy. I ordered the Hungry Belly Combo w/ curry goat and jerk chicken, which came with rice & peas, sweet plantains and steamed veggies, as well as the shrimp mac and cheese. The curry goat was very tender with great flavor. There were a few bites of overwhelming spice but overall, very tasty. The Jerk chicken was overdone (I don't think the delivery helped with that) but wasn't exactly the melt-in-your-mouth jerk chicken I was hoping for. Man this place is like fine wine.. it ages with grace as time goes by. My first time here was like in 2009 and it has gotten even better with an amazing decor and also a great face lift to the entire place.. I sat at the bar because the place still is packed like it's always been.. please do a reservation. At first, there was only one waiter covering the entire restaurant, but he handled himself really well until more staff came in about 30 minutes later. Life happens -- and honestly, that was the only downside. The food was delicious and the live reggae music was on point. Brunch is $45 per person with bottomless mimosas -- definitely worth it. At first, I thought the music was a CD, but it turned out the gentleman was performing live. His voice was so good that if this were the '90s, he'd already have a record deal! I had a truly wonderful experience, especially considering it was Valentine's Day ....one of the busiest nights of the year. From the very beginning, everything felt special. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with the biggest smile by a dark-skinned woman with short hair and glasses. She walked straight to the front to welcome my husband and me, smiling the entire time. Her energy was warm, genuine, and inviting. Although we arrived early, she immediately reassured us with, "No worries, I got you," and graciously accommodated us without hesitation. She even asked which area we preferred to sit in, and when I mentioned that I'd love to be closer to the DJ, she happily made it happen. That small gesture made the evening feel personalized and intentional. Our server was attentive, cheerful, and consistently checked in on us without being intrusive. Had a wonderful time at Dunns River Lounge for a family member's birthday. The inside of the restaurant is so cozy and nice! The appetizers were delish!! The escovitch wings, barbecue wings, and the codfish fritters were all on point! We got a second order of fritters, it was that great. I also loved the guava punch, tasted like the fruit punches you get abroad in the Caribbean. I had the lamb chops and Mac and cheese which was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The person in my party who had the oxtail enjoyed it. I heard the broth in the steamed red snapper was good and the jerk salmon was okay but overall they wanted the fish to be seasoned just a little bit more, not just the sauce but the fish itself would've benefited from being marinated for a little while, to give it a bigger kick. I visited during lunchtime. This is one of my favorite places to go in Rockville. I ordered the Tropical Storm which is my favorite drink. It is a blend of mango, passionfruit, coconut, and tequila. Hands down of my favorite drinks on the menu and probably in general. I am a big fan of island flavors and this one is a 9.5/10 for me! We ordered the jerk chicken toast which was a 8.5/10. The bread alone was soft and flavorful. When you add the peppers and jerk chicken, it makes for a delicious appetizer. The spring rolls are fresh and crunchy (8.5/10). I also got the Honey BBQ wings which had a bit of sweetness with the smokines of the BBQ (7.5/10). Overall, it was a fun lunch trip out to Rockville.
