Island Style provided gently used kayaks and paddles, life vests and even plastic bags for our belongings. Remember to use sun screen on the back of your neck and arms. Also consider a bottle of water. We just wore shorts and t-shirts. Our guide was Kelly. He was prompt and courteous. He had us in the water and out of the water at the agreed times. Our guide made the adventure memorable. Starting with dry land instructions, our guide exhibited consistent knowledge, patience, encouragement . He continued to provide thoughtful instruction throughout the trip. Our guide helped us locate dolphins, snakes and pin fish along the Lido Park Mangroves. Also spotted green heron, ibis, and snowy egrets just outside mangrove tunnels. We had a wonderful adventure and Island Style provide us with a relaxing and intimate way to experience Sarasota's natural treasures.

The shop is small and cluttered, but what bothered us the most was the staff never acknowledged us when we walked, or while we were shopping. we spent about 10 minutes looking around planning to by some things and setup a kite lesson. There was one other customer being helped. We never heard a hello I will be right with you how are your etc. it was as if we didn't exist. I can honestly after our experience I will never set foot back in this shop. St pete has to have better shops than this. I know it's difficult to find quality employees, but this was to another level. Sad to say I was hoping I had found a new water sports shop to spend my money at. It won't be this one.

All boards listed as new are actually new and not resells. Also an authorized dealer for Zap!!! Huge store and selection for all board types too and all prices super fair. Amazing crew and service there as well. Was approached by a couple of workers and when I was checking out I was given a sticker and key chain for free. Do not go anywhere else for a surf shop in Tampa Bay Area. This is a TRUE surf shop not a big corporate store or ripoff tourist shop. Will be buying all my "beach" gear from here.

Great school and excellent instructor! Hunter will take your kiteboarding progression to the next…read morelevel, no matter what stage you are currently at. Prior to two days with Hunter, I spent 8 years toying with kiteboarding in CA. I'm a decent athlete and surf all the time but with kiteboarding, I learned the hard way that you need instructions. Each summer was frustrating and my progression within the sport barely improved. I was at a level in which I could self-launch, downwind ride only (but mainly out-of-control) and somewhat turn but with no purpose or defined direction...basically a risk to myself, other riders and any marine life unlucky enough to get in my way. After two days with Hunter, I thrououghly learned and praciticed the safety mechanics of the gear, became confident and skilled with down & upwind riding, confidently course corrected and tacked without any "water-dips" and even worked on a few boosts (no tricks yet - next time Hunter!) Get a lesson or two and you'll actually enjoy the sport.

After ground school, we took the jet ski safely off shore where we learned to fly the kite (exhilarating and challenging!). After a brief but thorough dry-land lesson, my son and his instructor waded into the water. In his first lesson he learned kite control. His instructor, Becca, was extremely patient and thorough in her instructions. My son totally enjoyed himself and can't wait for his next lesson! My only "negative" is the lack of any kind of "signage" for this establishment at the beach. It made it a little difficult to locate them amid the many kiteboarders in t
