This company can never be reached on the phone unless they're interested in getting your money. They are quick to respond regarding lease agreements/lease renewals but once they have your money, they do not care. I've been waiting two years to get cabinet doors fixed. I've submitted multiple maintenance requests followed up on those request and two years later. I'm still waiting. I have been in my building through three property management companies and at least I can say Drexel is not the worst. Without Mario we'd be so much worst off, it's pretty difficult to get in touch with the building manager and when we try to reach out to Drexel directly the phone line just leads to the building manager's voicemail box. Thankfully the site maintenance, Mario, is very prompt when a request is submitted and he'll address every issue you talk to him about. I tried reaching out to management for water damage on our ceiling coming from the above unit and no response. At least acknowledge that you see my texts, missed calls and voicemail. All winter we've had radiator issues to the point of our $80 hallway runner was destroyed by radiator water that leaked from our bedroom to the hallway. I have loved living in a Drexel owned building! They are all very nice and accommodating people and care about their service.

I was living at 3160 N Cambridge. I highly do not recommed the building or its property managment. Someone claiming to be maintence attempted a break and entry into my appartment when I had not requested a service. I notified management and got no response about it. They even went as far to tell me that they can enter at anytime with no context. Yet when I had requested service for some simple fixes, I would either get a response a month late, or no response at all. I eventually was told to log in to an online portal to report on their behalf, yet I would find a poster in the lobby every month with a number to call an office (like I had been doing) for a habitual pest exterminations that very much plauge the building. It seems like they simply choose not to come about and fix things on their own volition. The laundry machines are not decent, some steal your money, some leave your clothes in standing water. And the dryers are half functioning. When I reported the issues, I was gaslit, being told that the laundry machines 'actually do work.' Even after leaving the appartment, they have been gaslighting me on a ton of things. Accusing me of not reporting issues when I had, and that the 'maintenence person' actually didnt try to enter without notice The AC in my unit was never enough to combat the heat in the summer. Same for several of the neighbors. Espcially the west facing apartments. Another problem with the west facing apartments is the bar's back entrance across the alley. They do their deliveries any time between 4 and 6 am on the regular....and they are not quiet or clean. They also do a lot of glass dumping as late as 2am. Between all of this, the paper thin floors and walls, and the heat that gets trapped in the apartment, its impossible to get a normal sleep. So natrually you need to keep the windows open with a fan running....and then boom....the backdoor bar noises. Winters can be brutal as well, I had my windows icing up on the inside a few times. The heaters do not function well. The walls and floors are so thin..I could hear the neighbors footsteps below and above. God help them with me having been on the top floor. A lot of the reviews I see for this company seem planted. Dont trust these people. They will treat you like an insect when they can. read more

We are very lucky to have Mario as our maintenance man. Mario is always very friendly, helpful and thorough. He responds to any maintenance requests quickly and with enthusiasm for helping others. He takes good care of the tenants and property. He makes sure that he completes the job in a timely manner and cleans up after himself. If there are additional resources that are needed he always goes to our landlord Jeff for us to explain why the resources needed and get the approval. Mario enjoys helping people and is always happy to help out his neighbors even if he is not "on the clock". Not only is Mario a great maintenance man, he is a great neighbor as well! read more

I have been really happy with Drexel Properties. They took over the management of my apartment building after a few months into our lease. Every time I ask for help or even just mention something it is taken care of quickly and done well. If it is not done well the first time Mario will always follow up. Mario always comes and checks in or makes sure a job is done right either by himself or a team member. It's been almost a year or more and we still have roaches due to garbage hoarders upstairs(mind you it smells like straight cat piss and garbage because of them) recently a mouse visited us....this place is no good. Last but certainly not least this place has lead....AGAIN! Couple of years ago one of our neighbors tested the paint and sure enough there was lead! They claimed to "fix" the issue but Jeff lied and claimed it was resolved when in fact it was not or we wouldn't have that lead sign up again. The same neighbors who tested the paint had a gas leak in their apartment and it must've been an ongoing situation because the neighbor who lived there before claimed he always smelled gas and they ignored his requests to check it out. Bunch of money hungry slumlords. Do yourself the favor and review this place so they can shut down Drexel for not fixing up the homes like they're suppose to. Screw you Jeff. read more

Unprofessional af. No point in putting maintenance tickets in because they do a half a** job or don't even complete the task, and have the audacity to remove the order as if they actually did anything(before the "owner respond to this statement, don't sit there and lie about how "we try our best to accommodate and finish our orders.") You might need to add "profesional" in your vocabulary. Like a proffesional plumbers actually unclog the bathtub? You know? A profesional electrician.. Like the time my living room fuse busted due to the wires and stuff being outdated I'm sure and maybe mixed up and you hired these "electricians" who tbh did nothing because the fuse still blows out to this day. They need to update these buildings before wanting to take over new ones! Also one of the front door panel windows has been busted since before winter came around and it was cold in the room above and now that summer is here all these bugs are crawling and flying inside. I heard about a lady who has more than 5 people living in her apartment, hoards trash and brought cockroaches to the building. This is the same lady that left her sink running and it leaked to the downstairs bathroom. Ohh and they did a half a** job on that too. What I'm trying to say is, think twice before renting here. Seems like our concerns mean nothing and you guys do the bare minimum and have the balls to raise the rent. Bunch of money hungry a**hats if you ask me. Don't get me wrong though, they'll fix the easy stuff, but the stuff that actually matters gets no effort or minimum at best. Also this place had lead in all the back door paint lol what a damn trip. This building is not the same since the new owners. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this building to live. They do not have a place you can call if you have after hour maintenance issues. They are beginning to let anyone rent the apartments so there has been many break ins. I was subject to someone trying to break in while me and my children slept. That was one of the reasons I wanted to move. Now, I have to give it to them they did come up the next day after they heard my message and fixed my door. When the water was running down into my bathroom they never came and fixe the problem it ended up being mold and cracking the wall in my bathroom and bedroom until small knats were coming from the wall. After that incident I moved out in a week and to be honest I stayed in this building to long but I was a part of a program but even with that they should treat their tenants better then what they did while I lived in this building. I am going to add pictures because this is not a case of a tenant being mad these are facts. I remember the old owners had a 24 hour maintenance number and it was so helpful because the janitor at the time came and helped us unlodged our fridge from the steps and the wall and if he hadn't I don't know what we would have done. It was just 3 women and 4 children trying to move that heavy thing. I actually ended up throwing my stove and fridge away because we couldn't get it up the stairs When my fridge broke down and I had to get a another one from the building they sent one up and it up was molded and dirty...I didn't want the fridge and they basically told me I didn't have a choice so I didn't want my food to spoil so I used much elbow grease and lots of bleach. The other reason was the bed bugs, roaches, mice, and ants that took over the building after the old owners sold the building. When the bed bugs took over the building some people complained how they didn't get the building to come and truly exterminate, they did come to my apartment but I did call a lot. I lost my couch, my hamper, my bed, a chair some stuffed animals and suffered from many bites. When we finally got it under control I made sure I did what I needed to do to protect myself because there were people who were still complaining about that issue before I moved out although I didn't have that issues anymore. If it wasn't for my cat we would have probably be over run by the rodents in the buildings. I remember they gave us some glue traps and my poor baby got caught in it but the mouse just seemed to walk across it like it wasn't any problem. When the old owners owned the building you didn't have a choice your apartment was going to be sprayed unless of course you were allergic to the pesticide. The new owners are on the call and get service plan which I believe is the reason the critters are able to get out of hand. They have a laundry room but it is rarely clean and the kids off the block find away to get in from the entrance and smoke, drink or whatever they do in the area. I know it maybe hard to believe but I can bring out the momma voice and I had to tell them to get because I needed to wash. They were young and didn't give me much resistance to asking them to go. The young men that hang out in front of the building now would have never happened before and people throwing their garbage out in the hallways or in the back area is just trifflin in my opinion. If your mailbox breaks well just know they don't run to fix it. Now, I know on this I maybe nit picking but the old owners made sure the names on the bells were neat and you can read them. Not them I had to fix the name on the doorbells so I can stop getting buzzed for someone else that lived in the building because people couldn't make out whose bell was attached the right buzzer. At the end of the day I would say this isn't the place you want to live I don't care what they promise because they don't care about their tenants. The owner was okay and their receptionist is actually great, but I needed assurances that the only pet I was going to have was my cat My review for Drexel Properties is for one of the Southshore area building for the record and I have heard about other properties being better but that was not my experience in the building I was in at all! read more

We absolutely loved our apartment. It was spotless upon move in, and the maintenance man, Tom, came and introduced himself. Upon any little maintenance issue, from light bulb replacing to a broken fridge, they communicated a time to fix it or handled the whole issue within 24 hours. Especially being in college, we were always treated with kindness and support throughout our time. They were even flexible on move out dates and willing to work with our schedule. Given the fact that landlords are notorious for getting you to sign the lease, then forgetting about their tenants, I can assure you that's not what I've experience with Jeff. They have an online portal making rent payment extremely easy (only takes about 2 minutes/month, you don't have to mail a check in. You can also use this portal to submit maintenance requests. I've submitted several and Jeff always responds within hours, sometimes minutes. Jeff really takes care of his tenants. I actually resigned my lease based on the great experience. I've been renting from Drexel Properties for three years now, and I love my apartment in Logan Square. The building is in a great location on a quiet street and close to trendy bars and restaurants. It is in a relatively safe neighborhood. I've never felt unsafe walking home alone from the bars late at night. The blue line Logan Square stop and several bus lines (#56, #74, #76, #82) are within walking distance so its easy to get to just about anywhere in the city. I've seldom experienced any issues in my apartment or with the building (absolutely NO bugs, rodents, etc.), and the management has been quick to communicate and address any rare problems that have come up that affect the building (water maintenance, etc.). There is an online portal that you can use to submit maintenance requests, resign your lease, or pay bills. It's really simple and user friendly. I've only contacted Jeff a few times, but he is really great at addressing my questions in a timely manner. Overall, I've had a really positive experience at this location and with the management. If I were staying in the city, I would definitely resign my lease. I would recommend Drexel Properties to anyone interested in a great apartment in a great location and for anyone interested in a landlord that is easy to communicate with. read more

The area is ideal for commuting, but the management does not maintain property. I was only there a short time, they have a serious rodent issue that they fail to address. So, just as a warning you may want to continue to look further this is not what you expect.
