Roots Spa and Salon - Uneven shave at part used to outline mohawk. (Not pictured: very visible when styled back with product.)

I feel reluctant to write this review, but the Vagaro link rejecting me after creating an account…read morehad me jumping over to Yelp. (All of the reviews were verified 5 stars, which was kinda fishy in my opinion.) I found this local salon through Strands For Trans. I was scheduled with Stephanie Brown for my haircut. I got a mohawk that I had intended to slick back with product. The mohawk was supposed to go down the back of my head, but veered off to the right and care wasn't taken to properly shave off hair next to the mohawk. I have to wear my hair messy to cover up the uneven shave. Maybe the back looks like that on purpose? I don't see the vision. And, it's too short to do much for the back. I don't think I'm coming back... 1 star for the botched look. (I think I just have horrible luck because even normal haircuts never look good.)

She is also very particular- in a good way - with how the cut looks and falls once finished! I would trust her with any picture of a haircut I would take to her. And she is very appropriately priced. She is also a kind person! No complaints here. We will always go back to her.

Roots Spa and Salon - Noticeably right of center cut. (Apologies for crazy angles. Had taken several and the hair looked the same.)

I visited Plush Salon on July 17 for a full color correction, highlights, lowlights, and a haircut…read more I spent eight hours in the chair and was estimated $500 for premium services. My stylist was kind and did a great job with most of the color and cut. When all the services where added up the grand total was $850. While I was taken aback by the gross underestimate, I paid it once she clarified the reason for the extra charges. Before I even left the salon, my stylist noticed two yellow streaks on both sides near my ears where the color hadn't taken properly. She booked me for a follow‑up appointment the next Friday to correct those areas. Once I styled my hair at home, I also noticed two additional uneven spots in the same area where the lowlights had only been applied at the roots and not pulled through, creating a "cheetah print" effect. When my hair is pulled in a ponytail which it is 75% of the time. I showed these to her at the follow‑up appointment, and she agreed they needed to be fixed. When I confirmed that the corrective work was included in the original $850 fee, I was told it would cost an additional $100. After I pushed back, the owner lowered it to $50, then $25, citing product costs. These issues were clearly part of the original service, not new work, and I was disappointed that a premium salon would charge anything to fix mistakes from the initial appointment. After considering it, I chose not to pay more and left without the corrections completed. While my stylist was wonderful, Plush Salon's management did not stand behind their work or prioritize customer satisfaction. I left feeling frustrated and very disappointed, and I cannot recommend this salon based on how the situation was handled.
