Wonderful charming tea house, serving a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, and drinks, reasonably priced. I had a cup of sweet potato and spinach soup (stunning) and a hot chicken sandwich with salsa (delicious). They have specials so be sure to check the board or ask the waitstaff. When I was there, they offered a Friday Fiver which was a cup of soup and a one topping sandwich. The waitstaff are all very friendlly and prompt, and the location of the tea house can't be beat--it's right next to the Drumcliffe Churchyard where Yeats is buried. They also had Irish musicians in the corner of the room, playing traditional Irish folk songs.
The tea house also is a gift shop, and fortunately it's not crassly commercial like many of the shops in downtown Dublin. Drumcliffe hasn't been overrun by the tourist crowd, and I imagine the type of person who would make the trek out to Sligo to visits Yeats sights would also not be the type to want to eat at McDonald's or get a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Really, I can't say enough about how lovely and amazing this little cafe is, with its wonderful food and pretty gifts. Highly recommend. read more
