Not only is his very charming log cabin open for viewing but you also have everything from an animal kid petting zoo to his airplanes and guns on display while giant bears etc are throughout the museum part as well. They bring in vendors and put up inflatables , face painting, pony rides, foam parties , make your own necklaces etc. all of this is free and no extra fee just regular admission cost. It is - and so is the extra pole that was added to the fence after it buckled during the first take. The inside is quaint, semi recreated and jam packed with memorabilia from the film. I loved the bedroom that recreates the setting where Ponyboy read Johnny's letter, which inspired him to write his English essay. I also loved all the random movie posters, candid photos and movie costumes - especially the autograph wall. The volunteers - who are strategically stationed around the property are the best. They're happy to talk all things book, movie and Tulsa related. If you're nice - they'll tell you about Crutchfield Park, which is just down the street and where the Greaser / Soc rumble was filmed.

You can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do and they are eager to share stories and little-known facts about the history behind the movie and exhibits. Their passion really brings the place to life. While we were there we met some fans who had traveled from out of state just to visit. We also chatted with the photographer who was a neighborhood local at the time of the filming and happened to capture behind the scenes photographs on set. He now sells photographs onsite and had some fun stories to share. Parking is convenient with a small lot out back, but if that's full, there's usually plenty of street parking nearby. There is a great little gift shop to check out before you leave as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

There also isn't a cafe, which I think would be a fun addition if they ever plan on expanding or remodeling. The exhibits were wonderful though, and I thought for the price it was a great deal. The three ladies who guided me through the artifacts and pictures were descendants of those being honored in the museum! They were so knowledgeable and interesting I could have stayed hours just talking and asking questions. The first floor is the history of the Osage - migration, dress, the tribe through current times. I got to see Osage hand looming and beading being done by a volunteer and her students! The second floor has pictures of those affected as described in the book Killing of the Flower Moon. This is absolutely one of the highlights of my trip to Pawhuska, OK. Not to be missed!!!! We also enjoyed viewing the room with all the photographs of the Osage tribe members registered on the roll book in 1906-1907, and talking to Katheryn an elder in the Osage community. What a treasure. Her niece is the one who painted the beautiful large oil painting about their origin story. The veterans memorial eagle feather sculpture outside is beautiful. We are so glad we stopped here!! Tip: when we went to buy admission tickets they said it's donation only so bring cash. :) Also, no inside photography allowed.

This place appears to have alot of things donated by local people who gave things that were a part of their lives or occupation. There are lots of items from numerous wars including World War one and two for sure. Lots of household items that were once used. Forgot to mention that is a hands on museum. Many items can be touched gently. Good luck on your adventure here. We hope to come back again some day when we have more time to look around. Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here.

The building was originally called The Electric Pavilion. It's 31,000 square feet are home to exhibits that include trains, dolls, school history, smelter, 1955 devastating tornado, farm, ranch, fire, clubs, medical and Native American. It is an open and interesting place for both adults and children. It is a perfect place for travelers to take a break. Opened just this month is an in-depth exhibit "F5 in 1955" commemorating the 1955 Blackwell-Udall, Ks tornadoes. The exhibit features personal stories, video presentations and a tornado simulator. It occupies an entire room and gives interesting informative information about tornadoes.
