*Desired Ishiyaki Bibimbap, found it, ate it, but it was only... O... K...*
The other day I walked by this restaurant and loved to look of it enough to track it down and try it out. Situated in an alleyway, it has the right feel for awesome restaurants that I'd find in Japan (and I'd assume Korea too).
While the $7 lunch specials looked ok, it was really the ishiyaki bibimbap that I wanted so paid up my $15 for lunch (not that much considering).
The side dishes came out and in comparison to Stra in Strathfield, I found them a little disappointing. Still, I love that these side dishes make an appearance while waiting for the main to arrive.
When the ishiyaki bibimbap arrived, the sizzle of the rice was perfect. Loved the crunchy rice and the general presentation...but... the flavour just wasn't there. No matter how much red chilli paste I added, it was kind of underwhelming. Wonder if that is a foreigner flavour issue, where sometimes places change the flavour to make it more acceptable.
Either way, was a great little restaurant with an awesome vibe. Might try something else next time. read more
