As the owners of Dry First, we'd like to post the truth about what occurred with Lisa F., who commented on this site: When she initially contacted our company, it was after she had asked her plumber for a recommendation of a reputable company that could help her. Dry First has a 30-year history in Brevard County and a stellar reputation for helping our customers. (Please see the dozens of honest, legitimate 5-star reviews on Angie's List that attest to this fact.) When we arrived on-site, Lisa was desperate for help and uncertain about how the whole insurance process works so, Jerry fully explained it to her and answered all of her questions. There is never a charge to come out and assess the situation and there was no pressure to work with our company. Lisa could have done whatever she wanted after we provided our FREE in-home assessment. When she was ready to engage our assistance, she signed a contract and the work began to dry out her home. So, when she says State Farm paid our company to dry out her home, 'of course they did,' since we 'dried out her home.' At no time, prior to the check's arrival, did Lisa ever have a qualm with Dry First. In fact, it was quite the contrary and she was talking about she wanted Dry First to do additional construction work in her home, over and above the insurance work. She acted like Dry First was the best thing since sliced bread -- while we were working tirelessly to get her insurance proceeds into her hands, that is. Throughout months of work (measurements, estimates, samples, documentation, tests, equipment placements and pick-ups, photographs, statements, etc), countless in-home visits, too many phone calls to count, emails, and lengthy phone conversations with insurance adjusters and with her, the next phase of our work was finally complete and her insurance check arrived. THAT was when Lisa's tune changed and suddenly she didn't want Dry First's service. She only saw dollar signs and wanted to hang onto the check that we'd worked to secure for her so she could put her home back into its pre-loss condition. After we'd had our estimators, project managers, claim managers, office managers, and even our company owner, working on her claim, Lisa decided that she wanted to keep that big check our employees had secured for her. So, I'm not sure how she thinks employees 'get paid,' but it was all documented and fully discussed with her, prior to her signing the contract, and as a grown adult woman, she had choices and options. At the time, Lisa knew of Dry First's top-notch, unmatched, excellent reputation and THAT was why she chose to go with us. Yet after we did what we promised to do and worked with her insurance company to get the funds she needed to rebuild her home, we somehow became the bad guy. She wanted to bank that check and not allow us to do the rebuild and fully get paid for our efforts. But no one works for free and time is money. So, when she says she got 'absolutely nothing,' I strongly suggest she look at that check and reflect on all the efforts of the estimators, project managers, claim manager, office manager, and company owner who helped make it happen. Dry First's reputation speaks for itself. With over 30 years in Brevard, my husband and I rarely ever go out and do not meet a previous customer who comes over to thank us for helping them. THOSE are the customers that make us thankful to be in this business! I can't say enough good things about this company. We are grateful to have come across Dry First! We know we'd never have gotten our vacation condo put back in order, and we're sure our insurance company wouldn't have footed the bill for all our repairs. These guys were already working in our building when we arrived for our annual Florida visit, only to find a moldy disaster waiting inside our beach condo. What a nightmare! Since I'd seen the trucks in the parking lot, I went and found the men and they came right over. Within minutes, our place was crawling with people with gadgets & gizmos that proved what we all already knew: the roof leak that had affected other units had also got us, too. They explained to us that we shouldn't be in the unit with all the black and green mold, and they got a mold testing guy right out who took samples to identify what kinds were in our place and how to eradicate them. As impressed as we were already, what came next blew us away: the manager and the owner even met our insurance adjustor in our condo and made sure he understood everything. (This was a relief because while I may be an engineer, this was not in my wheelhouse!) And when the insurance company threw some ridiculous numbers at us, the Dry First manager and owner went to bat for us once again, using the results of the mold test, too, and they ended up getting the insurance company to come around. I never could have done it because I didn't speak the lingo, nor did I understand what was going on, or my rights as the insured homeowner. In our state of Washington, things aren't this hard with our insurance companies, but we got an earful here, in Florida! Long story, short, our beach condo was nearly totally renovated: walls, cabinets, vanities, floors, and more and it is a pristine show-stopper today that's worthy of a magazine cover! We now invite family and friends, just to show off our lovely place! We may have spent more time in a hotel than we'd have liked (due to the mold), but Dry First handled everything and kept us abreast, every step of the way -- and best of all, the only thing we paid was our insurance deductible, just like Jerry had promised. My wife and I have even dropped by their Merritt Island offices on our subsequent trips to the area, just to say hello to these fine people and to thank them again for turning lemons into lemonade! read more

Do not EVER let these people in your home. They have a scam going on with some dishonest plumbers who come in to fix your leak and then recommend these guys. Alligator Plumbing is who we hired, who is reputable, but one of their plumbers, Shaun, is obviously a head hunter for Dry First. Then they get you to sign a contract and they're there when insurance adjuster meets with you, which the insurance company puts their name on check, which Jerry lies about, before I signed contract I said I didn't like that the money would go to them and he said "They never send checks to us." Ok. But they put your name on it. So once they get ALL your insurance money up front, they do NOTHING. So I just got out of my contract, but had to pay 20% to them, which was $3300, for absolutely nothing. Plus State Farm is paying them for the dry-out services. That's all they should have been paid for. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. HORRIBLE. DO NOT EVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE. read more

Hands down, the BEST service company I've encountered thanks to the referral of my plumber! The Dry First men were polite, professional, and got to work the minute they arrived at my flooded home. The manager came right out too and he explained the whole process to me of how my insurance would work. When the insurance company made things difficult, Dry First helped me navigate all the red tape with them as well. Since I'd been away for weeks, my slow leak had also caused mold, but they took care of THAT also and had certified pros at my house day who began the testing process. Turned out that I DID have a dangerous mold issue inside the walls but Dry First handled the whole job for me -- walls, carpet, paint, doors, cabinets, and more. My house is now put back together -- even better than before and more beautiful -- and all I had to pay was my insurance deductible! Highest of recommendations for this professional company and its well-trained crews! We own a rental home in Titusville and while it was vacant, we had no idea there was a slow icemaker line leak that did awful damage. Turned out that it flooded the place and mold had even started to grow. What a mess! My brother used Dry First in his home a year ago, and with superb results, so we knew just who to call. One call and they met us at the house in 30 minutes. From there, things got so much easier when Jerry began to explain how the process worked. What lovely people and what excellent service! Dry First came in and made order out of chaos at a time when we were frantic and lost.
