Armstrong was engaged by AA to assist us when our only car key was stolen. We advised AA it was…read moreurgent because we were stranded with an 11 month old baby. AA advised Armstrong would be there in 15-60 minutes. They arrived after about 80 minutes. When the locksmith arrived, he got to work without delay, however he never really spoke to us. We waited near the car with our 11 month old baby for TWO HOURS while the locksmith continued trying to create a replacement key. At no stage did the locksmith bother to tell us it would take hours, or we would have found another way to get our daughter home right away. After more than 2 hours, we asked what was happening and the locksmith said it would be another half hour. At this stage, we got our daughter home in an Uber. After another hour the locksmith said he didn't know how to create a replacement key. We got another locksmith out the next day who explained it would take a few hours and that we didn't need to be there. They created the replacement key without any fuss. We have now had to phone and ask Armstrong for their invoice 3 times ($180 for the call-out!) so we can submit it with an insurance claim. They keep promising to send the invoice but have failed to do so.

Buying power tools or spending my money on new golf clubs? This is a question I ask myself every…read moretime I go shopping for new clubs. My aversion to manual labour started at an early age, I realised that I don't like hard work. Work of the sweaty work kind, not the stuff writers, TV directors or marketing people call work. Work that low income people do where you use muscles and sweat. Think mining, tree chopping, building and basically anything where you need a white Hiace Toyota van. This doesn't mean I don't do it, I just don't like doing it, and I'm seldom prepared for the job at hand. You just can't do handy man work with a MAC and iPhone in tow. So, when I needed to sand down an old chest, the option of using my hands was out of the question. I knew of North Harbour Hire, so I stopped there after work to get a sander, and they were more than helpful. They even told me how to use it (Wonder if the little croc on my shirt was an indication that I wouldn't know what to do?) and it was much cheaper than buying my own.

The job itself didn't take very long and the result was amazing! I know this is a cliché but it actually looked like new, the paint was perfectly matched and there was no sign of any dents or scrapes. I was very impressed with the service also, everyone was so kind and informative, if you have a European car that needs some attending to, I would absolutely recommend Ray Haslar!
