One day my tenant for a house on Bel Arbres had called me with an emergency. The "about to have a baby" 9mo pregnant mother who rents the house with her husband and 2 little kids, told me that the closet roof in her baby room had collapsed from water, a leaky roof we assumed. It was days before xmas and about a week before her due date. Danny came out himself that day to see the damage, determined the HVAC until was the culprit (leaking water over the closet ceiling) and because I did not have an HVAC guy, had All In HVAC (also excellent) out to look that afternoon. Now just days before momma is to have her baby, DSP Construction has completed the demo and re-build and my tenant is happy again. The quote which had come in a bit below others, never climbed a penny. I used DSP Construction last month for a new patio. A good bid, very "aware" sub contractors (when they poured the concrete, they put up plastic to protect the existing (and freshly painted) stucco), and did an excellent job of the coloring/stamping. The end result is taking what looked like a Martian landscape and turning it into a fantastic huge patio. Highly recommended. read more

Update... I added one more star. They say after I posted this Danny sent me his estimate. It was fair and pretty reasonable but I decided that there was just too much uncertainty while he was so busy. I have the same problem with Danny that I have with quite a few businesses in the Ukiah area. He doesn't call back. It took a couple of calls and a text for him to come out and look at a prospective job at my house. He showed up and explained that he had several jobs in the works and didn't know when he could get to my job. I told him that I'm not in a hurry but I'd like to get an estimate so I could decide if it was going to be too expensive to even think about. 2 days later I emailed him links to the equipment I wanted him to install in my kitchen and bathrooms. After that.... nuthin'! After about a week I texted and called again. A couple of days later I got a text explaining that he had been really busy and had only glanced at the email. He said he could work something up for part of the job but would need to see the actual equipment for the kitchen before he felt comfortable giving me a number about that. I told him that would be fine and asked him if I would get his estimate soon. That was over a week ago and I haven't heard anything. It seems Danny has a good reputation but, based on this interaction, I'd be afraid he would start and then I wouldn't hear from him for a long time while my house is torn up. In all truthfulness I believe that it's just because he is so busy, but no one is so busy they can't make a phone call. I'd even understand if he were to tell me that he's too busy to even consider taking on the job. At least then I'd know what to expect. Sorry Danny. read more

Danny and crew did a remodel for me in my 970 sq ft condo October 2013 - Jan 2014. The original scope of work was new lighting, replacing existing lighting, crown molding, baseboards and fresh paint throughout. Half way through the remodel we discovered a mold issue in my bathroom. (AKA major mold infestation.) Danny also took care of the entire bathroom (although this was an unexpected bump in my remodel road.) The bathroom was gutted to the outer walls including some of the studs. Danny was able to basically rebuild the entire bathroom, insulation, drywall, tile work, shower doors, tile floor baseboards, lighting, etc. My condo looks so much better then when I bought it, and I'm sure it would now sell for more then when I bought it as well. Everything came out looking and functioning very well. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the improvements especially the bathroom. Danny is professional and you can tell he's doing all the right steps to make sure things are going to pass inspection. My condo is now a pimp party palace, not a 1990's cat motel. read more

Danny did a major remodel of our master bathroom last year and was a pleasure to work with. We got bids from 3 contractors and Danny's quote was in the middle but he was substantially more organized and professional than the lowest bidder. Those same attributes continued to show in his work on the project. The job involved tearing out a platform that surrounded our fireplace, moving the tub, shower, and vanity, adding a linen closet, and replacing the carpeted floor with tile. He recommended an independent interior designer to help us work out a plan and told us from the beginning that due to the scope and complexity of the project the plans and bid might need to be revised depending on what showed up during demolition. What showed up was an HVAC duct within that platform we'd wanted removed. Danny worked with us and the designer to help us develop a revised plan with an acceptable cost. He also helped keep costs controlled by pointing out when it would be less expensive for us to buy something independently or through the designer than through him. When the bathroom was complete and we used the shower for the first time we were all shocked to find water on the first level below the bathroom. Danny tracked the problem down to a drain pipe that had multiple cracks (including some underground) from when the house had settled years ago. The drain pipe had been used without incident by the sinks in the old layout but the much greater flow from the shower caused the backup and flooding. Danny kept his cool and worked with us to find a solution and implemented it at cost. In an ideal world, these kinds of problems would not occur, but in the real world with a project of this complexity there were bound to be unforeseeable issues. Danny was honest with us about the risks from the outset and worked with us to solve the problems as they occurred. We love our new bathroom and are looking forward to working with Danny again in the future. read more

I hired Danny recently to install new flooring, electrical and track lighting, a wall remodel (adding a picture window) and painting. All the work was done quickly, expertly and at reasonable prices. Danny carried out the following work on my condo during December 2011 and January 2012: 1) in the bathroom he removed and disposed of the old fixtures and tiles, repaired studs and sheetrock, replaced plumbing where needed, added an access door to reach the plumbing if we need to, installed a new tub, tub surround, shower faucet, vanity cabinet, sink faucet, toilet and floor tiles; 2) in the kitchen he removed and disposed of the old cabinets and appliances, installed new cabinets, new plumbing where needed, new garbage disposal unit and kitchen faucet, and 3) applied texture to the ceiling (the popcorn was removed by an asbestos removal company), put in new internal doors and patched sheetrock. The condo was old, so problems came up, but Danny solved them in a timely and cost effective way. I found Danny easy to talk to and am very happy with the work he did. We had drawn up all the plans ourselves, but Danny was helpful with troubleshooting along the way when we needed to tweak a few details after the demo gave a clearer picture. In the home stretch - waiting for stucco to cure, along with some trim, then the final paint job thereafter... Danny and his crew did a great job with our windows and patio door - lots of rot, etc - but as he always does - took care of business and moved on like it was nothing. Now we have windows that are level and plumb, nice interior trim around each window. For the kitchen and baths, Danny worked with Rob at the Countertop Store (San Carlos) to custom fabricate custom sills from Corian - made everything just flow together - a beautiful touch that I didn't anticipate until I came home one night and was simply amazed at the final product. We did run into some issues with the stucco sub contractor - the original sub had an emergency so this was a crew I've never met. They certainly were not as respectful of my property like Danny and his crew. I came home one night to find my the plywood in my entryway soffit pulled, down to the studs, replaced with only metal lathe as they were prepping for stucco. What had been a solid piece of 1/2 plywood was now just steel mesh, with my items in storage exposed to the elements. Dropped a text to Danny (because it was late), got email back immediately - said they would take care of it. Within a few days, the lathe comes down, area is redone with new plywood, then the lathe reapplied. I'm so, so glad Danny and Ed took charge of the situation - I was pretty furious - but as a good GC should, they took responsibility - fixed the issues and kept the subs in-line and the project on-track. I've got to say - throughout this process, with Danny taking the lead, it's been a fairly calm experience - my advice is to be flexible with your schedule and move out of the house - the peace and serenity is priceless. :) read more

I used Danny Pardini for a large remodel job, adding 425 sf to our 1060 sf house, adding a second bathroom, new kitchen, and rearranging the laundryroom. I am thrilled with the final project, I love my house and it hasn't had any major problems 1.5 years later. Danny takes his time, stays calm and communicative about the work, and the craftsmanship is very good. I trusted him and all the subs he had working here. There are a few things to be aware of- the job was supposed to take 10 weeks and took two extra months, and then extended on another 6 months while we kept trying to pass final inspection. I wished he had been more aware of some of the things San Carlos required to avoid that long delay in passing final inspection (which also delayed us refinancing). But, the bottom line is when all said and done I love how the house turned out and am very happy with the work. I plan to use Danny for future projects and highly recommend him. read more

Before I dive into my review, you need to know a little about me...I'm a civil engineer but not structural engineer, and I was an interior designer's assistant but not a designer...that makes me a client who knows a little too much to be nothing but diffcult in the eyes of most contractors. But DSP isn't any contractor! Danny did our kitchen remodel (really a kitchen laundry, family and garage remodel). He was fabulous to work with - patient, complete with explanations when I had a question, and hard working. He was very respectful of the our home exhibiting that he was aware that in the end we had to live with it...not a know-it-all-contractor who tells you you don't know what you are talking about and they know better for your house (you know which ones I'm talking about!). Danny and crew remodeled our kitchen including tearing out a wall and ceiling, cutting into the concrete slab to install a grade beam and gas fueled island range, adding a Simpson strong wall for seismic permitting, leveling the floor, building a custom curved washroom wall, installing a fir planked cathedral ceiling, tiling the floor with terracotta tiles, installing cabinets and new windows and much more. The job was challenging because the adobe brick structure has no space for piping and cabling - but DSP never balked when problems arose and always came up with solutions. The new kitchen is to code, spacious and beautiful thanks to DSP's craftsmanship and flair. Changes were always handled in a professional manner. And we will miss hearing Danny sing while he and his crew beaver away! read more
