We were blessed with the best dog in the world- loyal, smart, loving and sweet, a great watchdog and my best friend. We adopted a young cat from a shelter in 2016 who is also mourning the loss of her bestie! We were so happy with our dog Clara that we are now eagerly anticipating bringing our new puppy home from Kelly next week. Clara did develop various health concerns over the years which were resolved with proper treatment- mostly things which were age related and breed specific. I chose physical therapy over surgery and naturopathic remedies whenever possible. My heart goes out to the family whose dog developed seizures. Our kittie Minnie has developed focal seizures and it is very distressing to say the least- and she was totally healthy up until the focal seizures started in early March. But we are exploring every possible holistic treatment option to help minimize the frequency and intensity. People get sick and so do pets. My worry was that our cat was affected by toxins sprayed by our exterminator. But its tough to find a cause for such things. I grew up with an Irish Setter named Rusty who died suddenly at the young age of 7 from a condition called Bloat. But he came from a top breeder and had great parents.

Upon entry you are greeted by zero welcome vibes. We were seen rather quickly so in about 10 minutes called back. The vet came in barely glanced at it and said "oh that's a tumor" then he put his gloves on and actually looked at it, pushing it rather hard making Bella hurt and meow in pain , he had no soothing words of comfort or kindness towards her. He went into the back and got a shot of antibiotic, shot it in her neck and then said "it may be an abscess , you will know in about a week. If it goes down it's an abscess if it doesn't it's a tumor. Then sent us home with antibiotics. He never lanced it or cleaned it , didn't even spray peroxide on it. Turns out it was an abscess thank goodness. But I would go elsewhere if you empathy towards your animal is important to you.

I decided to take a chance on obedience training. I had a friend that recommended K9 Companions so I called. I was on the phone with them for a half hour they answered all of my questions concerns and fears. They also told me that they would be able to tell if the Dog was able to be trained and have the negative behaviors stopped/reversed. Their prices are the best around, and they are honest about what can and cannot be done to help with the dog. They did an amazing job not only helping me to understand how to work with the dog, but also helped me change the behavior in the dog so she can still be our family pet. That might sound like a simple thing, but when you have a dog out in public it's exceptionally important and keeps your life as stress-free as possible. Loki will respond to my seizures at home with the vest on or off, out in public or at home, around distractions, etc. As I go room-to-room, he follows me to keep an eye on me at all times. If I fall, he will run and dive under me, roll me on my side, lay down and protect me from hitting hard objects. He can also brace to help me stand up afterwards when I'm groggy and off-balance. He will also lick my face to help me come back to more quickly. Beyond being a great dog at his job, Loki is a fantastic companion. He has a ton of personality. When I put the vest and head halter on, he's in total work mode, but take it off and his excitement to play puts joy on my face every day. And when he's tired, he becomes a little cuddle bug. In terms of working with SIT Service Dogs, they are fantastic. You can message me them throughout the entire process and they will respond. Sometimes you may need different documents for grant agencies, the government, doctors, etc., and they do their best to act as quickly as possible to get you what you need. They maintain a relationship with you after delivery to help you work through any problems that arise, and they will even help you with questions about how to deal with situations in the real world such as how to deal with a businesses not letting you in or asking if your vet's recommended tests are all really necessary. They train you on how to operate with your dog, take care of him, etc. It's up to you to follow their instructions. You'll actually be left with a binder that sets you up for success that has information about different legal documents, medical history, dog needs, etc. I cannot say enough good things about SIT Service Dogs. I've taken Loki into the busiest bars on a Saturday onto the dance floor and danced with him as well as places like the mall, Lambeau Field, restaurants, into arcades with flashing lights and loud noises, and anywhere else you can imagine. He has been up to the challenge every single time. That's why you go to SIT Service Dogs if you are in need of a service dog.
