My husband and I were looking for a Jack Russel Terror mix. I contacted the Wayne county animal shelter they had a dog I was looking for. They sent me a picture of a skinny Jack Russel Terror mix. I contacted them that We wanted to come to pick him up on Friday. This was on a Tuesday. I received a call on Thursday wanting to know if we were still coming to get the dog. If we were not coming he was going to be put down. I reassured her we were coming. I will never forget that day as long as I live. They had named this dog Pluto. When we walked into the office it was so dirty the smell would have knocked you down. The workers acted like they couldn't wait to get rid of this dog. We had to ask for his information on his shots. We wanted to know if his shots were updated. After looking through a pile of papers we finally had the papers we needed. We asked if he was chipped. They said No but I guess we can do it for you. When they went back to bring our dog out. He ran to me and put his paws over my shoulders. I wanted to cry you could feel every bone from his neck down. This dog had not been taken care of. We ask how long had he been at the shelter. They told us they found him running in the streets. They said they had him for a little over a month. This dog was so traumatized by someone. We brought him home only to find out he was sick. We took him to the vet. He did not have kettle cough or heartworm. We were to give him honey when he started coughing. Whatever our dog Rex had it came from that nasty humane place where we got him. It made us wonder how many other dogs were sick back in that room. If you really care what happens to the animals at Wayne County Animal shelter. SHUT THEM DOWN!!

They will do almost anything to get a penny out of whoever they can!!! It is worth driving to another town if you are wanting to adopt an animal! The people at the Wayne County Humane Society do not have good intentions for this business!!! The only difference in our applications was that we have children and the others do not (although they dog was listed as great with kids). We put in our application Saturday at Petco in Fairview, was told we were the first to do so for him, that they needed to verify our information though. Tuesday, I call and I am told by one of the volunteers to just come to the shelter (a 45 minute drive). I get there to be told they were reviewing other applicants and it would be 2-3 hours before we would know. Well, I knew we passed the application by that point, so we hung around town, waiting for the phone call to come get the dog. Instead I get "we found a better home then yours". Upon further questioning, it comes out that we have kids and they don't.... Then we are told by the head of the shelter that there are plenty of other dogs and to get over it. My hearts broken

I always see people putting in applications to adopt, but why am I seeing the same dogs? It's as if no one is good enough for them. As a potential adopter I brought my dog up to one of the dogs in a cage to smell, I was immediately told that I was doing a terrible thing and to back off. I asked the Petco manager for the lady's name from the adoption group and was told that Rachael (the Bond County rep) had many complaints about being rude. I will definitely not be going back for the Bond County adoption events, although I hope those dogs find good homes.

His normal place sent him a last minute email that they had accidentally overbooked and he would be waitlisted. By last minute, I mean 30 mins before we were going to leave and drop him off. In a panic, we found Country Acres, who was able to take him last minute. They are incredible kind and patient, despite us getting every piece of information wrong. We knew his pup was in good hands, because all of the handlers we met were so nice and understanding, and at pick up explained he had actually ran out of food in the morning and they supplemented. The facility is extremely well maintained, offers additional services to really make your furry family member feel at home or pampered.

We had Cockers for years and really loved them. Talking to Laurel, we decided to order a Maltipoo (not even bred yet). She had such extensive knowledge about every breed she has that we both felt this was a better choice for us. She is so VERY careful with her breeding schedules that the pup would not be available for a few months. If she ran a puppy mill, she would have at least tried to talk us into a puppy she had available right then. Our puppy was born later so we went to see her and she was darllng! When she was old enough, we picked up the little bundle of white fur. She was perfect. Smart, affectionate...just what we wanted. She had been vet checked, given first shots, microchipped, etc. Laurel made sure I knew how to care for her, gave me a generous supply of food to last until I could get some for her. We never had any health problems because Laurel knows about all the possible problems and has the pups checked to know they are OK when they leave her home. We got along great until my precious baby was 4 1/2 years old. She got out into the dead-end lane in front of our house, was hit by a truck and my worst fear happened. She didn't suffer, but I did! I searched for rescue Maltipoos and Maltese, but people don't rehome Maltese often because they are so wonderful. I called Lauren (I was crying for Beatrice and so was Lauren) but she had 2 Maltese girls from her last litter. Again, the puppy was perfect and helped fill that hole in my heart. We also have 2 older rescue dogs and my new baby loved them. Sometimes too much. They would rather sleep than play sometimes, so now we have 2 darling litter-mate girls that are cousins to the baby I lost; they have the same grandmother Beatrice had. I even see some of her mannerisms in them. They entertain themselves and us with their antics and our older dogs get their sleep in. My sister also lost her dog to old age about the same time we lost Beatrice and ended up getting a Cavapoo from Lauren, too. She is perfect for my sister. Someone on this website made a comment that she thought Lauren had a puppy mill, but there must be more behind the story because nothing could be further from the truth. Lauren is very careful with her breeding program, retiring her breeding dogs when they reach an appropriate age, Her dogs have good food, recreation, love, room and a place to run and enjoy the outside, and are well cared-for. She always has dogs in her home with her. NOT ONE DOG is forced to spend their lives in tiny cages with little food or water and no recreation. I know this because I went to her farm to see for myself before I would get a dog from her. Anyone who thinks differently is sadly mistaken. I have fostered dogs for an animal rescue near me for several years and have seen dogs that come from those terrible places. I won't go into any details, but I have shed tears just seeing how hey have been so extremely mistreated. I have told many people about Dreamcatcher Hill and will continue to do so because I don't think anyone could be more concerned about their animals and the homes they are going to than Lauren at Dreamcatcher Hill. Sorry this is so long, but I had to let everyone know that though I'm not a close personal friend of Lauren's, I feel privileged to have found someone who cares so much about their puppies so I can have such smart, well-bred companions!

Finn was unwashed, had matted hair, a wound on his head, smelled, and apparently was sick. Finn had a cough and serious nasal congestion, so much so that there would be puddles of mucus left over from where he was laying. After a visit from our vet and a $750 bill, Finn was diagnosed with pneumonia. Seems they plucked Finn from off the streets, snip-snipped him, and then put him for adoption, knowing he was sick. Am I angry? YES!!! This poor dog was suffering and they (seems like) knowingly sold him. They couldn't even bother to give him a bath! We paid the $255 adoption fee and the vet bill because Finn is awesome and deserves to be treated, but we will never adopt another pet from Partners for Pets again.

We saw Micah and loved him the minute we met him. The foster was very upfront about his behavior and what he did and didn't do. His foster said he was good aggressive as he was. We make sure if family is over with their dog that they both don't get food at same time. We did a home visit through FaceTime. We really enjoyed all the people that we met. I'm so glad we found him. He means everything to our family. We just love him lots. I'm so glad they saved him.

We were told by the…read morefoster that we would get a follow up from someone in the foster as well as a medical record, proof of purchase, and coupon for a nearby pet store, but we never did. Anytime we had a question we had to reach out to the rescue. We never had to go through a home evaluation or anything like that which we thought was strange but moved on since we already had our new baby. By Friday morning Macy started throwing up which we thought was just a food change or anxiety from being away from her sibling. Saturday she was doing better so we didn't think much of it. By Sunday morning she couldn't keep anything down so we decided to rush her to the nearest ER. We called the rescue because our poor Macy had parvo. We were told there was another vet that could give her a shot and fluid for around $250 but we were paying the same amount so we stayed at the hospital we were at. We began home treatment but her little body could not fight the disease on her own. On Monday she was getting worse so I called the rescue which referred us to the Banfield hospital inside the Frisco petsmart, but they were unable to help so I rushed her to a hospital in Garland for treatment. Macy unfortunately passed away after fighting for her life around 5:30 am Tuesday morning. I was not informed of her passing until 10:30 am after calling the hospital multiple times for an update. I was also unable to get her body for cremation as the city picked up the body. We were told that we would get our adoption fee back and we could choose a new dog if we wanted. When we told the rescue that we didn't want to bring another puppy into our home because the virus can live for over a year. We did express that we would like our adoption fee back as we had spent over a thousand dollars within her short 5days of living with us. The rescue no longer answered our calls or replied to our text messages. I wish I could say that we had a great experience like many of the others have but honestly the entire experience has left a sour taste in my mouth about purchasing a dog from a rescue. I just wish we still had our baby girl but we were blessed to get to love her for those short 5 days!
