It's pushed hard for it's title by The Black Rose and Black Bull, both in Edinburgh. The Crobar, however, is my undisputed king of the south. I absolutely, positively, unequivocally LOVED this bar. The jukebox is awesome - custom built compilations of songs by group or genre. I heard everything from UFO to Nine Inch Nails while I was there. The drinks are pretty cheap for a central London bar... as in I didn't do a double take when I was charged. The decor is astounding! 2000AD pages adorn the walls, mixed in with other comic pages from the 80s and 90s... it's amazing. The bar doesn't have any draft beers, but does have an amazing range of bottles and spirits. The punters were all readily accepting of someone that clearly wasn't a regular, and there was a fair bit of banter and laughter between everyone, whether they knew you or not. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, even being quite clear that the beers they'd just put in the fridge weren't cold so they were selling them under protest! I was there a lot of the night, and can't say enough positive, happy, good things about them, or the place as whole. Even entertainment was provided by a small dog that was quite the thief, swiping half a vodka and coke while it's owner was distracted. Not sure that happens every night though... Seriously though... if you like your music a little loud, your decor a little wild, and you time to be filled in a pleasant environment, then for me, this is THE place to visit. Extremely Unsafe & Discriminatory for Disabled Guests - Please Read Before Attending…read more I'm leaving this review after months of being ignored by KOKO Camden following a serious incident that occurred on 27th February 2025. I emailed the venue on 28th Feb and again in full detail on 3rd March -- both emails were completely ignored. I attended the venue for a concert and had followed all proper procedures, including emailing the access team months in advance to confirm I would be bringing food, water, and medical supplies due to my Type 1 Diabetes. This was approved via email and in line with KOKO's own accessibility policy on their website, which states that attendees can bring food, drink, and medical items for health conditions. I had also attended this venue many times before with no issues. Despite this, upon arrival: * Security refused to let me bring in any of these items, even after showing them the official email from the access team. * My medical necessities were confiscated, and I was left with minimal supplies. * I was mocked and belittled by multiple staff members, including one who said, "That's a whole shopping bag," despite the bag being standard size and containing medical items. * I was taken into a back room by the venue medic (named Matt), who also dismissed my access needs, questioned my condition, and sarcastically asked, "So is a 1-minute response not good enough for you?" For someone with diabetes, 1 minute can be the difference between being fine and passing out. Despite all this, they refused to let me carry the bag with me and said staff could "bring items if needed" -- something that simply did not happen when I actually needed them. Throughout the night: * I became hyperglycaemic from stress, then hypoglycaemic later, and was unable to access my own supplies in a timely manner. * Staff were unresponsive, dismissive, and even shouted at my friends and PA when they tried to help. * I was denied access to the accessible toilet after the show -- the only response was "it's closed, use the regular one." * When I finally got my bag back, the medic questioned whether my blood sugar was actually low and condescendingly offered unsolicited advice -- at the end of a night where his refusal to listen had already endangered my health. I had medical documentation, an access card, official email confirmation, and visible medical devices. Still, I was denied the basic rights and support I need to safely attend an event. KOKO's own website says they "welcome all attendees who need to bring food or drink to manage a medical condition," but their staff did the opposite. I left this event physically unwell, distressed, and genuinely frightened by how little my access needs were respected. If I had passed out or worse, it would have been entirely the venue's fault. That's how serious this was. The fact that no one at KOKO has responded to me months later shows a complete lack of responsibility and care. This venue is not safe for disabled attendees in its current state. Until KOKO radically improves staff training, communication, and actual accessibility practice, I strongly urge anyone with access needs to stay away.

Owned by the people who run the frequently polemic Vice Magazine, The Old Blue last is located in a beautiful if derelict Victorian building in London's East End and plays host to regular gigs by up-and-coming and firmly established artists alike. With Amy Winehouse, the Arctic Monkeys and Foals having played The Old Blue Last it's certainly earned its musical chops. For those of us who like our venues a little more polished and with a little less posturing, however, this slightly derelict if achingly hip pub leaves a little to be desired.

The general vibe was really friendly and exactly what I imagined an old-school pub would be like. Anyway, this isn't a spot to go out of your way for (and it's not trying to be), but if I lived in London, I'd be happy to have it in my neighborhood to hang out in. I desperately wish I was a local and this was my neighborhood pub! Food and drinks: the roast was everything I hoped it would be! As a southerner (US), I grew up with Sunday roasts, though slightly different. All I can say is that the roast beef was the closest I have ever tasted to my grandmothers - the beef was so tender and the gravy almost made me lick the plate. The sticky toffee pudding was irresistible and I am embarrassed to say I made sounds of pleasure that are not usually heard at the dinner table (at least... a public table). The staff was as equally yummy as the food - I hate to objectify people, but the staff gear were the best looking and most-smiling staff we encountered in London! Its a lot larger on the inside with multiple rooms and nooks to sit at, and a balcony area overlooking the main bar, performance area, and huge Staropramen beer tank. (Yes, that beer was delish!) They have a small menu of bar snacks, merchandise and shirts to purchase, a fully stocked bar and plenty of beer! Bands performing daily. One can definitely hang out here and easily get wasted. The place itself has been around forever, loosely dating back to 1631 when it was called Mother Red Cap and various incarnations over the years. If you come here expect loud music and an eclectic crowd. If you whine that it's too loud or you don't like the music style its not a place you'll enjoy. But if you know where to walk (and know up to follow your Map app), you will find a bar that plays awesome metal music while you knock back pints or drinks. The vibes are cool, the bartenders are cool. We enjoyed the drinks that weren't exorbitant. The music was excellent. It's a great hangout to hang during the day or at night.
