My 19 year old daughter, who is from NYC and attending college in Dubuque, saw Dr. Benda with recurring migraines. Not having me or her father there to advocate for her, she had to attend this appointment by herself. She explained to him that they get so terrible that she often throws up and passes out. We instructed her to ask for an MRI, which she did. She was told no way is he sending her for an MRI for just migraines, gave her pills and told her to take for the rest of your life. That was it. When she was back in NYC for Christmas break we took her to a neurologist here. Two serious issues were found on her scan, both of which we will be following up with in New York. I'll start by saying Dr. Benda's bedside manner while treating a very nervous 19 year old girl was atrocious. We had an awful experience with Jeanette Hruska. My child will not be back to see her & would recommend you look for another audiologist if you have small children in need of audiology services. I tried to contact the office manager twice, to express my concerns, and never received a call back. Update, both the Dr and office manager reached out and resolved all issues. read more

I've had sinus issues my entire life, but until I met Dr. Benda, I had no idea how clearly I could breathe. He guided me through steps to get to the root of my problem, after a diagnosis he gave me options, with guidance toward what he felt would be my best option. 2 days after surgery performed by him, I was breathing freely. UPDATE: #2 Did not take me to collections. Updated to 3 stars because of that. No further stars as all the hassle I had to go through, pulling teeth would be preferred vs. dealing with this office manager ever again. Customer service is not in her vocabulary. UPDATE: Office manager called me back but was still confrontational! Updated to 2 stars only because a doctor in the office later called me. No follow up from their office but assured me they would take my money and not go to collections. We will see... I've seen better customer service. Original post: Dr Herther was superb at taking care of some surgical issues, it would be 5 stars in my book. Their Office Manager & total lack of customer service is what brought it to one star, ZERO star if I could. Never received bills from them, sent us to collections, no phone call no email no nothing. Office Manager would not stop the process even after paying 20% and offering more in 2weeks. ZERO customer service from her! The only reason I would give 1 star is because I couldn't give 0. Dr. Thomas Benda is extremely arrogant and condescending. My college aged daughter went to see Dr. Benda and was completely disregarded. After 2 months of sinus/throat issues and 3 rounds of antibiotics she thought a specialist could help her. Dr. Benda did not listen to her and instead told her that her illness was questionable and processed to tell her she probably isn't allergic to amoxicillin. He did not address her current issues and was no help at all. My daughter left the office very upset and now has to find a different ENT office. Very frustrated mother here.... read more
