The next day while performing his rounds he explained that considering how bad the break was the surgery was successful. The care I received for my follow-up visits was extraordinary. Dr. Hardeski and his team (Sherri , Amanda and Stephanie) went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and helped me keep a positive attitude while I healed. I was fortunate to have Dr. Cairone who put on my external fixator on. Said to me I can do this surgery but my colleague Dr. Hardeski takes on this kind of traumatic surgery with a high success ratio and was my best chance for recovery to get back to a normal life. When I got a chance to meet him. I said to him I herd your Dr. Strange who happened to be a super surgent that became a super hero. Even though he lookes a lot like Eyegore from Young Frankenstein. I didn't let that bother me to much. Because he was professional and was able to communicate to me on a blue collar level. He reconstructed my ankle back with 12 screws and 3 plates with a wink of an eye and was able to run right out to my car afterwards. But all joking aside I'm month ahead on my recovery time of 6 months to a year. Thank you Dr. Hardeski you are my Dr. STRANGE.

Update: after experiencing ZERO symptoms after having my right hand done in Sept 2024, I got the…read moreleft hand done in September 2025. I think this one healed even better. I had way less itching overall and significantly less pain immediately following surgery - likely because my left is not my dominant hand. However, I did have more sensitivity in the area (it basically feels like a sore ball on the bottom of your palm). It's been about 10.5 months post surgery and scar fade is excellent. I feel pretty confident putting my weight on my hands - I took a couple of falls during winter hiking season and was able to use my palms to help myself back up and everything was ok. My wrist flex is great - I reached out to my former weightlifting coach a few weeks ago because I feel ready to pick up a bar and get back to Oly. If you are on the fence about this surgery please just get it. I shake my head at how much my quality of life deteriorated over the last 4 years (legit having to wear pull on pants because I couldn't finagle a button closure) for a surgery that was so straightforward in the grand scheme of things. Also if you are brown skinned or otherwise prone to keloid scarring, the incision is flat and significantly faded. I predict within 5 years it will be invisible. I'm adding pics of the left hand. X-rays and temporary casting done on site, MRIs pre-approved and scheduled, then follow-ups and PT all handled in one place. Never paid a penny more than my co-pay for Specialist visits, beats a trip to the ER or generic Urgent Care center by a long margin. If you're afraid you did something to yourself that's going to require orthopedic care sooner rather than later, this is the place.
