I did my research alright, and everyone said eating a slice of apple pie from Dudok, and only Dudok, was a MUST before leaving Rotterdam. And so even after a stomach stuffed full from eating all the wonderful things at Markthal, I still manged to drag myself over to Dudok for the cherry on top.
Or so what I thought would be the cherry on top. If anything, the pie was considered to be a little above average but just a little. The crust was dense with each bite I used my fork to stab it into pieces. The filling was good and had an okay flavor - though watch out for those raisons eww - while the crumble on top was soggy as it was sitting on top of the mix for some time. It was disappointing but maybe this kind of apple pie was just not my cup of tea I guess.
Service was less than what I expected for an established pattisserie to have as they guy who helped me was a little cold and fumbly with mah pie . Also he forgot to add whipped cream (WHERE MAH WHIPPED CREAM BE?!) Whixh I didn't realize was missing until later going on Yelp and seeing pics of how it was supposed to be. Thanks dude.
Restroom is there at least and it's free. And so, if you need a place to rest when shopping at De Meet or if you just want a sweet treat to snack on you could give their pastries ago. But in this city full of sweets and trendy desserts, I'd say don't make Dudok a destination especially when there are so many other cool and trendy desserts around. read more
