I stopped by the store on my way home from work as the sign said "open". There were no customers…read moreinside and no lines indicating there were any restrictions to enter. One of the employees was out front taking out garbage and held the door for me to come inside. I had a mask on, and stepped in and immediately washed my hands. He asked how he could help and I told him I wanted to get some new glasses. Instead of being polite, he very rudely and condescendingly told me an appointment was needed because "don't you know there is a lockdown everywhere?". Yes, sir, how could one not know that? But not every store requires an appointment to enter, so unfortunately I expressed I did not know that. He then rudely told me that there were "signs posted all over the door"....oh, I'm sorry, I the door YOU held open for me, making it impossible to see there were signs on it? There was literally no one else in the store. Instead of offering to make me an appointment for another time or helping me if no other appointments were scheduled....you chose to speak to a customer in a terrible tone and I left the store never wanting to return. I have been getting my glasses here for several years. Thanks, but maybe you forgot you work in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Maybe this lockdown has caused you to lose your ability to relate and talk to people. Every place we enter has their own unique way of doing things, so don't assume people will know how your business works. If I wanted to be scolded and spoke to like a child I wouldn't be going to a store to pay for that experience. Has COVID really entitled people to speak to people like they have no respect? If I owned that store, I would be thoroughly disappointed my customers were talked down to like that. Thanks for the experience Max!

Unlike other reviewers, I've never felt alienated or discriminated against by any employee at this…read morestore, and I definitely don't give the impression of "upper class" (I have facial piercings and last time I was there I had short teal hair). They've been available when I have questions, and seem to have a lot of knowledge when it comes to their products. I like the variety of what they carry, especially given that it's a small-ish store, and in fact I find they carry a better variety for children than the child-specific store down the street. My only complaint is that the products can be quite pricey, however I feel like that's kind of on par with smaller stores and with the area. ETA: My partner was with me one of the subsequent times that I went, as I've been to Mrs. Greenway a few times now. As a visibly LGBTQ person of colour, she said she's always a bit wary of new places in predominantly white areas, but felt totally welcome at Mrs. Greenway with no concerns.
